TTI-FSS’s Map of Caribbean Region Operations

Established more than 60 years ago, Tampa Tank-Florida Structural Steel’s (TTI-FSS) business first focused on a vicinity stretch-ing hundreds of miles. As our capabilities grew, our solid reputation for safety, quality,

efficiency and reasonable prices offered us opportunities to expand to a wider scope. Early on, under the leadership of Cal Reed, we reached out to companies based in Latin America and the Carib-bean. Thereafter, our products were also being shipped to other continents such as Africa and Asia. In an effort to continue expand and increase our fabricating and shipping logistics, now with an ad-ditional facility ideally positioned at the Port of Tampa, TTI-FSS has become faster and more reliable by having direct access to railroads, trucking and ships/barges to reach any market worldwide.

Currently, one of our most active areas is the Caribbean and Central/South America where our vast experience helps us respond to our customers’ growing needs for additional tank storage, steel plate structures, and piping which TTI-FSS is capable to serve on an individual basis or turnkey project.

The Hovensa Oil Terminal at Limetree Bay was purchased by Limetree Bay Terminals, LLC (LB Terminals) in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands in 2016. Great steps have been taken to revamp the onsite tanks that hold 32 Mbls of petroleum products, as well as perform the necessary piping modifications to operate the storage facility. Since this project was announced, TTI-FSS with local partner Peak, (TTI-Peak, LLC) has repaired 16 tanks so far. And, due to the excellent work being done, LB Terminals has asked to increase our presence on the island to bring more tanks into operation sooner.

Initially, the project started with a 10-man crew that gradual-ly has grown to 75 men working day and night shifts -- a true testament to the safety, quality and efficiency records of TTI-Peak’s employees and the project’s leadership. The tank repairs have included installing bottom patch plates, external floating roof (EFR) repairs, replacing primary and secondary EFR seals, re-building fire foam systems, wind girder repairs and wind girder re-builds. TTI-Peak also has performed two full bottom replacements and installed aluminum skin and pontoon internal floating roofs.

Grand CaymanCoordinates: 19.3222° N, 81.2409° W

In an effort to bolster tourism, the government of the Grand Cayman Islands committed to increasing the size of its airport terminal and runway. As part of the restructuring, TTI-FSS was awarded a contract from Rubis Grand Cayman to demolish the existing Jet Fuel terminal facility at the Owen Roberts Interna-tional Airport.

TTI-FSS’s scope of work involved cutting down two tanks – one a 10,000 bbls and the other, a 1,000 bbls tank; removing 1,200 ft. of piping, and demolishing the customer’s airport’s office build-ing, including a canopy, and concrete work removal. TTI-FSS finished the job on time and on budget -- with ZERO safety inci-dents. The next phase of this project will be the construction of a new airport fuel storage depot. With the well-known capability and experience that TTI-FSS has, it is now prepared to fabricate and erect the required tanks, piping and all other construction which will be required for these types of facilities.

Additionally, work is about to begin on another contract TTI-FSS was awarded by Rubis, Grand Cayman that consists of the erection and painting of a 10,000 Bbls tank, and installation of 6” and 8” yard piping at its Jackson Point facility. In order to better accommodate the petroleum market in Grand Cayman, Rubis is reconfiguring their storage facility to better manage the products offered to the local market. The changes consist of supplying and installing an aluminum internal floating roof, floating suction pipe, and internal paint-ing. TTI-FSS will also install complete roof perimeter handrails around the existing tanks.

Additional Fuel Storage on the Island of St. Kitts and NevisCoordinates: 17.3578° N, 62.7830° W SOL Caribbean Ltd. contracted the services of TTI-FSS for the demolition of several tanks as part of a terminal fuel tank project on the island of St. Kitts, along with the demolition of a whole fuel storage system in Nevis. After the demolition of a tank and the relocation of another one, in St. Kitts, additional area was obtained to erect three fuel tanks; one for aviation ( Jet Fuel) with up to 5,000 bbls capacity, and two tanks for motor gasoline, each with 6,000 bbls capacity. This storage increase allows SOL Caribbean, Ltd. to keep a larger amount of fuel inventory available to meet the needs of its consumers.

TTI-FSS was appointed to design and construct a firefighting system at the terminal in compliance with local requirements for protection of people and the environment. Using the latest inter-national codes for water-cooling rings and a foam generation tank, TTI-FSS also installed foam chambers at the top of the tanks. Water cannons were installed on the exterior of two tank farm areas to help cool the adjacent tanks, in case of a fire emergency.

SOL Caribbean Ltd. entrusted both works to TTI-FSS due to our extensive knowledge in API 650 steel tank construction as

well as NFPA codes; demonstrated safety, on-time and on-budget record; and our proven expertise in the design and construc-tion of similar firefighting systems in other Latin America and Caribbean countries.

Increasing Flexibility in the Leeward Islands Coordinates: 17.4890° N, 62.9736° W TTI-FSS has been working in several of the Leeward Islands for many years, but there is a specific island where our local company GEC NV has been operating for more than a decade -- St. Eustatius, or as it is called locally, Statia.

For all those years, GEC NV has worked to foster a win-win relationship with our customer NuStar Terminals. As a result of the work we have provided on tank and pipeline maintenance, NuStar Terminals has reduced downtimes and maximized the use of their existing facilities.

As NuStar Terminals looks to its future on Statia, it has chosen GEC NV, yet again, to be in charge of their terminal pipeline route modifications, install new pipelines, demolish old tanks, and build new ones. This vote of confidence stems from the consistent, high level of attention to schedules, meeting project budgets, maintaining an accident free environment and improv-ing efficiencies shown by GEC NV employees.

Storage Tank for Diesel Fuel to Cover SOL Guyana Inc. Incremental SalesCoordinates: 4.8604° N, 58.9302° W

The country of Guyana in South America is thriving eco-nomically as its demand for fuel consumption demonstrates. The demand stems from the regional growth of essential new bridges, road construction, and mining.

SOL Guyana chose TTI-FSS to fabricate and construct a 50,000 bbls steel tank at its Rome Terminal. As a result, SOL Guyana now offers its customers a consistent flow of supple-mental fuels. Meeting this customer’s pressing need, TTI-FSS fabricated and built the tank within an 8.5-week turnaround. Painting the whole tank took another 6 weeks. As a result, SOL Guyana has now received the first load to this tank of many more to come.

The project was completed on a fast track mode without any safety incidents or budget increases using the latest API 650 standards. Given all the parameters, SOL Guyana was immensely pleased with the entire project. An additional fire protection system is now under construction, based on NFPA’s updated fire standards.

Jet A1Fuel Storage Expansion to Meet Customer Sales at St. LuciaCoordinates: 13.9094 degrees N, 60.9789 degrees W SOL EC Limited, located in St. Lucia, is expanding its jet A1 fuel storage capacity at its Vieux Fort Terminal facility. TTI-FSS is responding to the request by creating Design-Build jet fuel steel storage tanks that will require earthworks, a concrete founda-tion, and the erection of a 15,000 Bbls tank.

Adhering to the latest API 650 and NFPA standards, the tank will have an aluminum dome, a floating suction arm and an exte-rior sump tank used for product testing. SOL EC Limited needs to quickly increase volume to meet their customers’ needs, so the tank’s construction is being expedited to meet urgent deadlines. Coordinated from TTI-FSS headquarters in Tampa and its local Tampa Tank, Inc. St. Lucia office, the project is expected to be completed by mid-May 2017.

Airport Jet A1 Fuel Facilities at the Island of St. Vincent Coordinates: 12.9843° N, 61.2872° W

Rubis West Indies is a leading supplier of aviation and motor fuels on the islands of the Caribbean. TTI-FSS was contracted to develop a storage terminal and a fuel sales office at the recently government constructed Argyle International Airport on the island of St. Vincent. Several times larger than the previous airport, the new Argyle Airport offers expanded passenger capacity due to its ability to receive larger passenger airplanes.

Coordinating with the local authorities on this macro project for the island, Rubis West Indies sought TTI-FSS’s vast experience to develop this Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) based project. TTI-FSS demonstrated its valuable engi-neering acumen by adapting to the Rubis West Indies’ budget and construction parameters to institute the complex process for prod-ucts to be received via underwater pipeline and then transferred to airplanes via dedicated trucks at the airport plane tarmac.
