BABY BOMBERS BASH BLUE JAYS: The Tampa Yankees hit five home runs in one inning on Tuesday night in Dunedin. Michael O’Neill led off the top of the third with a solo home run. After a single and a groundout, the Yankees hit back-to-back-to-back home runs (Billy Fleming, Miguel Andujar, and Abiatal Avelino). Fol- lowing a strikeout and a walk, Zack Zehner hit a solo home run. A five-homer inning has only been done five times in Major League Baseball; the last occuring on April 22, 2006 by the Milwaukee Brewers (Bill Hall, Damian Miller, Brady Clark J.J. Hardy and Prince Fielder) in the fourth inning in an 11-0 win vs. the Cincinnati Reds. VS. DUNEDIN: Tonight will be the fifth of 18 games scheduled between the Tampa Yankees and Dunedin Blue Jays. Tampa currently leads the series, 3-1. In 2015, Dunedin won the season-series, 11-7. In games played at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, the Yankees went 2-7. FLEMING EN FUEGO: BIlly Fleming leads the Florida State League with a .393 batting average (24-for-61) and a .456 on-base percentage. The 23-year-old has hit a home run in back-to-back games and is fourth in the league in slugging percentage (.557). PAYTON POWER: On Tuesday, the Florida State League announced Mark Payton as the “Player of the Week” for the week of April 18th - 24th. In that span, Payton slashed .389/.520/.778 in six games, going 7-for-18 with two home runs, a double, six walks, nine RBI and four runs scored. GO LONG! - LHP Ian Clarkin tossed a career-high 7.2 IP in the 3-1 win on Saturday night against Daytona. On Friday night, RHP Vicente Campos completed eight shutout innings in a 4-0 win over the Tortugas. It was his longest outing since having “Tommy John” surgery in 2014. Campos last pitched eight innings in a single start on August 25th, 2011, as a member of the short-season, Single-A Everett AquaSox (Seattle Mariners). TOP OFFENSE: Entering tonight, the Tampa Yankees own a league-best .276 team batting average. The Yankees also lead the league in runs scored (92), hits (173), home runs (19), slugging percentage (.428) and on-base percentage (.355). 2015 REVIEW: The Tampa Yankees finished the 2015 regular season in 3rd place with an overall record of 66-72. Shortstop Tyler Wade was named to the Postseason All-Star Team after hitting .280 (103 hits) with 2 HR, 28 RBI and a .349 OBP in 98 games with Tampa. The Charlotte Stone Crabs captured their first Florida State League championship in four games over the Daytona Tortugas. Kean Wong ended a 13-inning marathon in game four by drawing a bases-loaded walk to beat the ‘Tugas, 3-2. OSBORN ANNOUNCED AS NEW MANAGER: The New York Yankees named Patrick Osborn as the newest manger of the Tampa Yankees. Osborn enters his third season in the Yankees organization and his first with Tampa. He managed the Staten Island Yankees in 2015 leading the club to the NYPL Championship (41-34). In 2014 he managed the GCL Yankees and led the club to a first-place finish in the Northeast Division (35-25). He spent three seasons (2011-13) as manager of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, a member of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and led the Blue Crabs to three consecutive postseason berths. HURRY UP! This season, MiLB has implemented Pace of Game Regulations for the Florida State League. All FSL ballparks are now required to have one timer in the outfield and two timers behind home plate between the dugouts. The new regulations include a 2:25 minute count down between half-innings, a 15-second pitch timer, a 30-second mound visit timer and several other miscellaneous Pace of Game procedures.
