WHY IT MATTERS:

TBST has increased access to books and other learning materials in Tanzania, where they are in short supply. TBST has developed the mechanisms to efficiently procure books and other reading materials from a variety of international sources, providing access to information for learners of all ages across the country.

WHO WE ARE:

The Tanzania Book Support Trust is a non governmental organization that procures and makes available a range of relevant and useful reading materials to its members made up of schools and libraries throughout Tanzania.

OUR RESULTS:

TBST’s success can be seen in rising membership, as demand for reading materials grows. About 500 member organizations throughout Tanzania benefit from TBST each year. To date,

TBST has provided over a million books to individuals and

schools in Tanzania.

WHAT WE DO:

TBST consults with education officials, librarians, book sellers, the Ministry of Education and NGOs in Tanzania to procure and distribute useful and relevant books ranging from children’s literature to tertiary level informational texts. TBST also supports the development and management of community-based libraries.
