V2.5 Calendar Module How to create a calendar
CONFIDENTIAL
Creating a Calendar – Step One
CONFIDENTIAL
Create a Calendar Product Type.
Within Product Settings we can now change the Product Type to ‘Calendar’.
Set the dimensions as usual, however for the min/max/default pages you should consider how many months you want the user to create. Tip: Use a Cover rather
than a standard page for the front of the calendar.
We should now see two additional Calendar icons on the toolbar.
Creating a Calendar Cell – Step Two
CONFIDENTIAL
We now need to draw a rectangle shape to be used as our cell background for the dates on the calendar.
The colour of the background is irrelevant at this point, but the size will be the actual size of the cell.
Next we need to name this item ‘BACKGROUND’. To do this right click on the shape and select ‘Set Item Name’.

Now we have the background of the cell created we need to create the items which fit inside the cell, i.e. the date.
First of all we need to drop a text box into the relevant location within the Cell Background. Then we must set the item name to ‘DAY’.
It is also optional to include the day of the week (i.e Monday/Tuesday etc) in the cell. To do this drop another text box in a relevant location and name this ‘DAYOFWEEK’.
Another option is to leave an empty text box or picture box for customers to enter custom text for special occasions or even drop pictures in. To do this just drop the element into the cell, no need to name this.

Once our cell is complete we can now save this to our Scrapbook.
Highlight all the elements, right click and save this to the Scrapbook as ‘calendar_cell’.
TIP: Scrapbook clippings made during the development of the calendar can be made private to prevent our customers seeing them. Just right click on the clipping and choose ‘Private’.
Creating a Calendar – Step Three.
CONFIDENTIAL
Now we have created our Calendar Cell we now have the option to create a day of the week header.
We need to create a background of the header Add a rectangle shape, saved with the name ‘BACKGROUND’. Again, the colour of the background is irrelevant, but the size should be the same length as the Calendar_Cell.
The Scrapbook clipping must also contain a text box with the name ‘DAYOFWEEK’.
Once this is created we can save this to the Scrapbook as ‘Calendar_Header’.
Creating a Calendar – Step Four.
CONFIDENTIAL
Now we have created the elements for the calendar we can add a calendar to the page to see how our style looks.
To do this click the ‘Add Calendar’ button from the toolbar. A calendar will drop on the page.
Creating a Calendar – Step Five.
CONFIDENTIAL
We can now edit the appearance of the calendar.
To do this click the ‘Calendar Layout’ icon from the toolbar.
We will now be presented with a new window which we use to edit the calendar’s appearance.
Creating a Calendar – Step Five Continued.
CONFIDENTIAL
Here we choose what we edit, i.e Header or Day of The Week appearance.
We can then change the font type/size/colour etc. We can also reposition the element
To change the appearance of the cell selected we can change the colour and the opacity of the background, as well as the border.
TIP: Please consider Mac/Windows compatibility with fonts etc.
Adding Titles to the Calendar – Step Six.
CONFIDENTIAL
We can also include a title to the pages of the calendar to include the Year and Month.
To do this we create a text box and include the text [YEAR] and [MONTH]. We then give this the name ‘CALENDAR_HEADERTEXT’
Finishing the Calendar – Step Seven.
CONFIDENTIAL
The calendar module uses the Wizard feature. To make the calendar product compatible with the wizard we need to save a page style with our elements. The page style must also include a picture box.
We also should save a page style for the cover if we are using one.
All we must do now is save the Product and test.
