The Tara Estates Activities Council

Tara Activities CouncilOpen letter to our neighbors from the Tara Activity Council

It has been such a long 16 month since the St. Patrick’s Dinner, our last major function. Although many things have returned to “normal ish”, many things have not. At our recent council meeting we spent quite a bit of time discussing how we can return to an active community. Groups like Bingo, Poker, the Knitting Club and the Chowder Lunches have or will soon return. Their schedules are available with the monthly newsletter. Big events like the Yard Sale and the famous dinners, the Christmas Craft Fair, much work still needs to still be done such as working with the Hynes Corp. re: guidelines for number of attendees and pricing. We will continue to work diligently to make this an active community.

We have many new residents to welcome and on that note the first Coffee Social is scheduled for Aug 7th at 9:00 AM at the clubhouse and the first Chowder lunch is scheduled for Sept.15 at noon . Watch the newsletter for more information.

The council would like to invite all to our meetings to get to know what the council does and we always welcome fresh ideas. We meet on the second Monday of the month at 6:30. Leaders of our many groups like quilting and art groups are encouraged to attend.

Again, we are working very hard to get back to some sort of normal -whatever that may by working out “The Covid Kinks”. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

VNA CLINIC here at Tara will resume services in

September on the third Wednesday of the month 10:30-11:30

Angel Fund

Just a little reminder of what the ANGEL FUND is all about! The ANGEL FUND is here to help anyone in our community who may need temporary, financial assistance. We will pay your park rent and the money doesn’t need to be repaid. All of the money we receive is through donations from our very generous residents! Recently, at the outdoors lunch that was arranged by Shirley Wilson, we received $40.00 in donations from those who attended. Thank you so very much! It is greatly appreciated by those in need! Also, please keep calling or emailing us regarding any residents who have been hospitalized or those who have lost a loved one. We will send them a card with enclosed gift card to let them know we’re thinking of them.

A huge thank you to our residents who donate monthly!!

Enjoy the rest of your summer! We certainly got a lot of rain in July and hope to see more sunshine ☀ in August! Thanks to all who support our fund!

August Bingo

Bingo has resumed at Tara!

We have enjoyed seeing old friends, and have welcomed many new faces, and hope to see many more. Bingo tickets are sold between 5:30-6:15 pm. Bingo begins at 6:30.

Hot dogs will once again be available for purchase on August 12th, beginning at 5:30.

Special Bingo Thurs, Aug. 12th.

Danielle Reddington has donated $100 for a special game in memory of her mom “Kay” who enjoyed coming to Bingo, and will be missed by many.

She has requested 4 corners, resembling a four-leaf clover, in honor of her Mom’s Irish heritage.

Mark the date and join us for this tribute to Kay.

The Tara book club has not met for over a year because of the pandemic. Now that the club house has opened, it is time to reconnect and talk about our love for the printed page.

Please put down on your calendars, August 20th, Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM.

Our Tara book club has not had the opportunity to have a subject matter for the meeting, and so this is an opportunity to meet and discuss any books that you have enjoyed during the pandemic. The book club meets the third Friday of each month in the club house. We form a circle of readers by the fire place. Anyone who shares an interest in books and subject matter is encouraged to come and participate.

As the clubhouse has opened up to community activities, we hope to now to be able hold luncheons for families of our residents who have passed.

The committee has a substantial list of those who have contributed food and who are able to help when luncheons are provided. If you have previously been able to help, and for some reason can no longer assist, please contact one of us. Contact info is listed below.

For new residents the Bereavement Committee was established to help aid and comfort residents in their time of loss with a luncheon for family and friends at no expense to them.

During the last 16 months we have been unable to hold any functions. We are hoping to be able to resume this support for our community. If this is something that you would like to be a part of, please contact one of the committee members below.Thank you...

A Memorial Service in Honor of our Tara ResidentsSeptember 10, 2021

1:00 – 3:00Dear Tara Neighbors,As you are aware, the Bereavement Committee was established to help aid and comfort residents in their times of loss. We have been unable to fulfill our obligations during the past 16 months due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid 19 pandemic. This has resulted in our community being unable to say good-bye to our friends and neighbors, and our committee being unable to offer our love and support to their surviving families. As you know, many of the activities suspended because of the Covid pandemic have already resumed, and the Tara Activities Council is planning to begin adding Council sanctioned events beginning in September. It has been suggested by a member of the Tara Community that the Bereavement Committee should resume their supportive functions and to begin with a Celebration of Life/Memorial Service for the many members of our Tara Community deceased during the pandemic.Your committee has booked the Tara Clubhouse for a time of remembrance and reflection on Friday, September 10, 2021, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. A light luncheon will be provided after a short memorial service. If you have lost a beloved member of our neighborhood family and want to honor them at this Memorial Service, please contact any member of the Bereavement Committee listed below for more details. Individual/specific memorials can be set up for sharing with the community.Because there are still lingering restrictions affecting group gathering size, we respectfully request that only Tara residents attend this service. Please rsvp any committee member listed below before September 1st if you will be attending so we will know how many to plan for.The Bereavement Committee exercises their right to require all unvaccinated individuals to wear masks indoors. Thank you for understanding and working with us as we try to resume the role of this committee.Tara Bereavement Committee: Candi Braithwaite, 603-335-4563 – [email protected] Bereavement Committee: Sylvia Boudreau, 1-207-216-3408 – [email protected] Bereavement Committee: Carol Routhe, 603-509-8104 – [email protected] for Tara Activities Council: Pat Holt, 603-948-2631 – [email protected]

We are back and happy to be here !!!!

Classes resume at the original time of Tuesday afternoons 1 to 3.

We are also happy to report that we have wonderful new wooden stands to hold up our art work for display, thanks to one of our very talented husbands.

We have art work on display on the top shelves in the library. This time it is a mixture of old and new projects. More to come... Come and enjoy!

BUSY HANDS KNITTERS

AUGUST 2021

We are back and are we happy!!!!

Our group is getting larger and larger every week with new people, people returning from their Florida time this past winter and people just stopping in to visit

We will continue with our 1 - 3 Monday and Thursday 9 - 11 meetings. Our hands are busy. From now on I will try to share with you some of things we are involved in creating. Some will be for self, family or donated to outside organizations. Remember if you have yarn that you are not using we welcome all donations. We love receiving all donations so our busy knitting hands can work on projects that we donate to the different organizations in our local community.

We are all so happy the library is open and with beautiful new shelves! We are happy the accept books in good condition and relatively new—the last 5-6 years. Current magazines are also great! As last year, please return books to the counter. We will shelve them.

Also, please, please, do not dump books on the library that are from houses that are being closed. Without the compactor we have no way to get rid of old worn-out books.

Thank you!Ann Drysdale and library volunteers 216-420-8685

Tara Kazoo Band

Tai ChiTai Chi is now back inside the Tara club house. It is practiced together on Monday and Friday mornings from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Tai Chi had been done during the winter months in the parking lot and many people have expressed an interest in coming to participate. Everyone is encouraged to come. We recommend wearing loose comfortable clothing and footwear. Water for hydration is also recommended.

There are no fees in participating in Tai Chi.

Tai Chi is a noncompetitive martial arts tradition derived from ancient China. Tai Chi has evolved into a series of gentle physical exercises and stretching with mindfulness designed to involve all systems of the body. Physical strength is not a requisite, and all movements are done to your capabilities. Tai Chi has been shown to improve balance control, fitness and flexibility.

For additional information call Sally Breen 335-6729
