To deliver a release version of WP3 before each prototype. To combine the Crossgrid middleware and Globus

services to provide a functional Computing platformTest all tools and services of WP3The integration and validation phase will require

significant effort from all of the tasks

Task 3.1: Portal access to the Grid independetly from the user location: It will use existing tools developed by other projects: GRAM, MDS, etc.. (standard elements from Globus), LDAP, XML, etc... From the integration point of view, important to define interfaces between two parties (to connect all tools developed in the WP3 and in WP2 and providing easy access to the applications deployed by WP1).Task 3.2: Construction of new resource management

techniques for parallel applications submitted to a Grid based on scheduling agents.Task 3.3: Design specification of the monitoring tool.Task 3.4: Data management and archiver systems.

DependenciesDependencies

WP4 (International Testbed Organisation): This task is very stronly correlated with the prototypes released in WP4 because the testbed will provide the framework to run the applications made in the differents WP's. WP1 (CrossGrid Application Development) and WP2

(Grid Application Programming Environment): All tools and services of WP3 will be used by the aplications. European DataGrid project: The WP6 (Testbed and

Demonstrators) and more concretly with the Integration Team because they are doing the tests and integration of the DataGrid middleware at the moment. (http://marianne.in2p3.fr).

Wp3 kick-off meeting, Poznan, 29th-30th January 2002 Santiago González de la Hoz 8

The IFIC is participating in the DataGrid project. We are working togheter other Spanish groups in the WP6 (http://ific.uv.es/grid/DATAGRID-SPAIN/). So, the IFIC is working in a DataGrid testbed at the

moment, with the corresponding software.134 Pc's running Linux 6.2 with 40 Gb disk space per

machine.Globus 2 (beta 21 version) is running.Condor 6.2.1 as batch system is running.

The IFIC has the minimum hardware required for the deployment of a local CrossGrid testbed:

GIIS (Grid Index Information Service) machine, Dedicated 100 Mbps switch, More than three machines (standard type,

PIII>1GHz, 512 Mb RAM, HD40GB), One CA (Certification Authority) machine per

country.

GIIS (Grid Index Information Service) machine:The Globus host is the GIIS of a country or an institut. We recommed to install the Institut GIIS on a machine without gatekeeper (IFIC GIIS mds.ific.uv.es). This GIIS has to register itself to the Spanish (Country ) GIIS. The Spanish GIIS is the top level of Proyecto Datagrid España. The Spanish GIIS is grid001.ifca.unican.es, port 2166 and it is registered to the European GIIS (tesbed001.cern.ch) .

CA (Certification Authority) machine per country:In Spain the Certification Authority is IFCA (Instituto de Física de Cantabria) in Santander. The IFIC has personal certificates for the users and machine certificates for the gatekeepers.
