Mission Statement

Statement

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will

fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of

Judah.” Jeremiah 33:14

It has been an amazing fall this year! It has definitely been

nicer than I can remember in a lot of years. Despite that, we can

definitely tell that the seasons are changing. That’s especially

true in our area where we live in the midst of God’s bounty. The

fields are becoming bare as the farmers gather in the harvest.

Whether you like cold and snow, everyone knows it’s coming.

The season are changing here in the church as well this month. We

look forward to gathering for our Thanksgiving Eve service as we

give thanks to God for the blessings of this past year. We have

so much to be thankful for! But there is another major change

that we will notice this month. The seasons in the church

calendar change this month as well. The last Sunday of the church

year comes on November 21. We finish out the church year by

looking to the finishing out of this world. We focus on Jesus’

promise that He will return into this world. He will end all of

the injustice and problems that exist in the world. He will

safely gather those who have faith in Him into His eternal kingdom

in heaven. We look forward to that day with great joy.

We mark a new season in the church year on November 28. We can

tell that the world around us is anticipating different seasons.

We see it at the stores and other places. The secular world is

preparing to celebrate what it celebrates. There are also signs

in church. The color of the paraments will change to blue,

symbolizing hope and anticipation. We are reminded of how God’s

people of old looked forward in hope to the birth of Jesus. We

are reminded that we too are a people in waiting as we look

forward to the advent of Jesus on the last day. We also see the

familiar Advent wreath in the church. We see a candle lit each

Sunday until Christmas. It reminds us how the light of prophecy

burned brighter as the people looked forward to the birth of Jesus.

The changing of the seasons reminds us of God’s constant care and

His control of time. We celebrate how God kept His promises in

the past to send a Savior. We find comfort in His coming to us

now in Word and Sacrament and look forward to His coming again.

In His service,

Pastor Olson

Sermon Texts and Titles

November 4 & 7: It is on this day that we celebrate the Festival of All

Saints’. The text for the sermon will be the Gospel reading from Matthew

5:1-12. The title of the sermon is “Blessed!” The Gospel reading records

what are called “The Beatitudes.” Jesus talks about us being blessed. It

is on this day that we remember those who have gone before us with faith

in Jesus. We look at how God blessed them in this world and how they

continue to be blessed now in heaven.

November 11 & 14: We will be having our Veterans Service on November 14.

We didn’t hold this service last year and are looking forward to it once

again this year. It is on this day that we recognize those who served us

in the military. We are reminded of how God serves us through others. We

are especially reminded of how our Savior made the ultimate sacrifice for

us on the cross.

November 18 & 21: This Sunday marks the last Sunday in the church year.

Our text will be from Revelation 1:4-8. The title of the sermon will be

“The Faithful Witness.” We see in our text that Jesus is referred to as

the Faithful Witness. Jesus witnesses to the truth that He has overcome

sin and death for us. We are now given the privilege of living out our

faith in Him and giving witness to the hope that is ours.

November 24: The text for our Thanksgiving Eve service is from Philippians

4:8. The title of the sermon is “A Thanksgiving Feast.” Feasting is a

big part of our Thanksgiving celebrations. It is certainly nice to be

able to gather with family and friends around a table sagging from the

weight of a turkey, cranberries, and pumpkin pie. However, we have the

privilege of being a part of another feast. We see that God provides us

with a feast for our souls. He comes to us and fills us with His Word

that we might be refreshed spiritually.

November 28: The sermon text for the First Sunday in Advent will be the

Old Testament reading from Jeremiah 33:14-16. The title of the sermon is

“Advent Expectations.” Advent is the time when we prepare to celebrate

Christmas. We are reminded of how God’s people in the Old Testament had

expectations of Jesus. We are waiting for Jesus to come into this world

again, His second advent. We too have expectations of Jesus. Our Old

Testament reading tells us what we can expect Jesus to do for us in our

lives.

St. Paul Lutheran School News Excellence in Christ-centered education for now and eternity

Walk-a-Thon: The walk-a-thon was a huge success again this year. The

event raised over $25,233 which smashed last year’s record! And last year

was a record from the previous year! The walk-a-thon was different again

this year due to Covid concerns. The main difference is that we were not

able to go to NEW Lutheran for the event. It was held at St. Paul’s, but

was still a great event. The funds raised from this event go directly to

support our mission of providing excellence in Christ-centered education.

4K Registration: We are currently accepting registrations for the 2022-

2023 school year. You can contact the school office for more information.

St. Paul offers a full five day a week program. Busing is also available

from the LC and Kewaunee districts at the beginning and end of the day.

St. Paul also participates in the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP)

as well as the Special Needs Scholarship Program (SNSP). These vouchers

cover the costs of all educational expenses for qualifying students. This

includes the 4k program. You can contact the school office for more

information on these programs.

Website: Many of you have noticed that we have been experiencing problems

with our website. This is due to the platform that we had been using

going down for an extended period of time. We have been working

diligently on getting this back up and running again. However, this has

turned into a larger project than anticipated. We hope to have things

fully operational in the near future. More information will be shared as

it is available.

Teacher Conference: There will be no school on November 8-9 as the

teachers will be at conference.

Veterans Service: We will be having our veterans service again this year.

It is a wonderful opportunity to recognize those who have served in the

military. The students will sing at this service.

Thanksgiving Break: There will be no school November 24-26. We give

thanks to God for the many blessings that he pours out on us. The

Thanksgiving Eve service will be held on November 24 at 7:30 pm. You are

invited to join us as give thanks to God for the many gifts which He pours

out upon us.

4K News from Mrs. Budnik’s Classroom: Greetings from 4K! October went fast and now onto the month of giving

thanks! We've been growing so much! In Jesus Time we've learned about Abraham and his many sons (we even got to sing the goofy

song), Jacob and Esau, Joseph and his super cool coat, and now onto Moses! We've been doing so much learning about our letters and

sounds, and now even know some words! In Science we've been experimenting with pumpkins: learning how to measure how big they

are, how much they weigh, how they grow, and even looking inside of them! YUCK! We've been working hard on our songs for

Veteran's Day so we hope everyone can come out and enjoy a blessed church service honoring those who gave so much for us, just

like Jesus Christ! Have a great Thanksgiving month!

5K News from Mrs. Byrne's Classroom: October is one of my favorite months of the school year. We have gone through

all the rules and routines and now we are ready to really see where each child is academically, emotionally, spiritually, and develop

some strong relationships with each other. I am so excited about our class this year, they are super smart and sweet. Our Bible lessons

this month were of Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses. We have been working hard reviewing shapes, patterns, and number

recognition. Our science has had us outside observing trees and leaves. We have already started our guided reading together and

learning our snap words. We were able to go to Hillside Apple Orchard for a fun fall field trip. Kewaunee County Health came and

led a walk and provided each student with a pedometer. We are ending the month celebrating Red Ribbon Week, which is a national

campaign to be "drug free" with many fun dress up days.

1st and 2nd Grade News from Mrs. Pahnke’s Classroom: What a beautiful fall we are having so far! The weather has

been wonderful and we have been able to spend lots of time outside! This has been perfect for our science class since we are studying

clouds, weather, and the sun. We have been able to view different types of clouds, track the temperature each day, and even put out a

rain gauge to measure precipitation! The class is really enjoying all the hands-on fun of our new science curriculum. We are learning

so much in our other classes as well. In religion we have been following the Israelites on their journey out of Egypt and through the

desert. In Reading we are beginning our Daily 5 Rotations; Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Word Work and Work

on Writing! The kids are working incredibly hard to become excellent readers. In writing we have been learning that every sentence

starts with a capital, has a subject, has a predicate, and ends with a period. We even have actions to help us remember as we chant this

during our writing class. :) Enjoy what is left of this beautiful season and God's blessings from our class to you!

3rd and 4th Grade News from Mrs. McClellan’s Classroom: It is hard to believe that we are through the first quarter.

Even amidst the continuing crazy circumstances, the students continue to work hard in all of their classes. We have been learning

about trusting God in everything! We had a fun ending to our month. We all enjoyed celebrating “Red Ribbon Week” to show we

keep our bodies drug free. It was fun to come to school dressed up different each day of that week! God bless your November.

5th and 6th Grade News from Ms. Schingeck Classroom: In 5/6th grades we are learning about what good

nonfiction readers do. The students are enjoying their book clubs. In science we are learning about concentration and how it can be

measured with mass. In social studies we finished our chapter on earth's landforms and water resources. In writing we are working on

revising and publishing our personal narratives.

7th, and 8th Grade News from Mr. Wiemer’s Classroom: "Mr Wiemer's class is racing to the finish of the first

quarter! It's hard to believe how far along we actually are! In reading, we just finished My Side of the Mountain. In science, we have

memorized up to element 60! In Social Studies, we are learning about ancient civilization. Mr. Wiemer is very proud of how hard

everyone is working this year!"

STEWARDSHIP NEWS AND VIEWS By the time you read this, most of the leaves will be off of the trees. They have served their purpose for the year. They now lay on the ground dried up and useless. The growing season has come to an end and we begin to wonder what the winter months will be like. As we celebrate the Reformation, we know that we are saved by grace alone. But the work of God's kingdom is ongoing. It requires our time, talent, and treasures all year long, not to buy us eternal life, but to carry on the work of His church. So don't be like a leaf that dries up in the fall and has no purpose. Don't let your faith and actions become dormant over the next few months. Give to the Lord in any way you can. Serve him with gladness and thanksgiving for all He has done for us. COLOSSIANS 3:23. Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you are serving the Lord Christ. In Christ, Karen Belter, Chris Janda, Jean Pieschek

Christian Service Guild News: Christian Service Guild meeting will meet on Wednesday, November 3, at 1pm in the church meeting room. We will watch a movie about Luther. All Ladies are welcome. We would like to thank everyone who bought our baking at the craft show Bethesda Volunteer Day is November 11th from 9am – 3pm. To the Residents of King Veterans Home we will have a jar in the narthex for your donation from November 4 –November 14; the day of the veterans service. Money collected will be used by the staff of the home to purchase items such as toiletries, socks, sweat pants, etc. for the veterans. Let’s remember the men and women who served our country.
