Omon Tursunov Director

Omon has 14 year experience with Big 4 accounting firms primarily in Kazakhstan and served clients operating in various industries including oil & gas, mining, telecommunications and financial services. Omon re-joined PwC Kazakhstan inMarch 2011 after working for almost a year at Kazakhstan branch of Parker Drilling as a Tax Manager.

Tax Dispute Resolution Practice

Dana is the candidate of jurisprudence with a dissertation on international taxation, she has a Masters degree in Tax Law (UK), and the degree of ADIT (Advanced Diploma in International Taxation, UK). Peter Burnie Partner

Peter is the leader of PwC - Kazakhstan Tax & Legal Services for the Eurasia region. Peter has worked with a wide variety of clients both domestic and foreign investors not only in Kazakhstan but also in Australia, South East Asia, Russia and the Balcans.

Peter's experience extends to advising clients in tax technical position and strategy during their disputes with the tax authorities, due diligence and international structuring assignments as well as advising clients working within special taxation regimes applicable for extractive industries. Peter has worked with clients in the resource and power sector as well as real estate and transportation industries.

Peter holds Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Queensland, Australia and Bachelor of Laws from University of Queensland, Australia.

Ainash has an extensive experience advising major multinational and local clients on various Kazakhstan domestic and cross border tax and related issues. Ainash specializes in tax dispute resolution and administrative case proceedings of tax offences.

She has worked in a Big 4 accounting firm in USA for over 3 years before joining PwC Kazakhstan. She has a Masters degree in Law from Harvard Law School (Cambridge, MA, USA) with specialization in Tax Law. She is admitted to practice law in the state of New York, USA and also licensed in Massachusetts, USA as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Ainash is a regular speaker on tax related issues at KIMEP and other venues.

Almas Nakipov Director

Almaty based team

Almas is a Director in PwC Tax Department. He graduated from the Almaty Institute of Economy with a major in finance and taxation in 1977. Between 1977 and 1997 he worked in the Ministry of Finance and State Tax Committee. He started his career with state service in 1977 as an economist and reached the position of the Head of the Department for Taxation of Subsurface Users and International Taxation of the State Tax Committee. Before joining Coopers & Lybrand in 1997, he became a registered auditor, having procured his license from the Kazakhstan Ministry of Finance to carry out audit and consulting activities. Almas participated in development of tax legislation and has an extensive knowledge of Kazakhstan tax legislation/ Almas is experienced in assisting both multinational and local companies on tax dispute matters. He is the Vice-President of the Kazakhstan Tax Consultants Chamber and an active member of working groups of the Ministry of Finance and Parliament advising on and developing the amendments to the tax legislation.
