Office for Lee Ross to serve as a Board Member for the Mercer County Solid Waste Authority.

RE: CONTRACT – MERCER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

This day on motion of Gene Buckner, Commissioner, seconded by Greg Puckett,

Commissioner, the Commission voted unanimously to approve the Contract of Lease between

the Mercer County Commission and the Department of Administration Real Estate Division.

Office space is located at the Mercer County Health Department and the rent is $450 per month

beginning September 1, 2016 and ending August 31, 2018.

RE: RESOLUTION – DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF MERCER COUNTY

This day on motion of Greg Puckett, Commissioner, seconded by Gene Buckner,

Commissioner, the Commission voted unanimously to accept the Resolution recognizing the

Development Authority of Mercer County as the county’s lead economic development

organization.

This day Marsha Phelps appeared before the County Commission to discuss the Estate of

Woodrow Phelps regarding a claim from Sam’s Club. The county clerk said they would pull the

file, do some research, and call her to get this matter resolved.

RE: PRINCETON BOY SCOUTS TROOP 1

This day Phillip Ball and part of the Princeton Boy Scouts Troop 1 attended the County

Commission meeting for the Citizenship in the Community Merit. Those in attendance included

John Allen, Logan Green, Jacob Fedele and Sam Chambers.

RE: PUBLIC COMMENTS – JASON FOX

This day Jason Fox, resident of Mercer County appeared before the County Commission

to discuss the Essential Services Levy. Greg Puckett explained the proposed levy in detail and

answered questions.

RE: PUBLIC COMMENTS – ALLEN BURGESS

This day Allen Burgess, appeared before the County Commission to discuss business

closures in Mercer County and questioned who is trying to help keep these businesses here.

RE: DEPOSIT AT INTEREST – SINKING BOND FUND

As provided by section five, article six, chapter seven of the West Virginia State Code,

One thousand nine hundred thirty-one, the county treasurer is authorized to establish with county

depositories two accounts, one to be designated “demand deposit account” and the other to be

designated “time deposit account”.

17 THEREFORE, it appears that the SINKING BOND deposit in the demand deposit

account exceed the current requirements or demands, the treasurer of Mercer County is directed

to transfer the sum of TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS & no/100 ($10,000.00) Dollars to said

TIME DEPOSIT account, which will earn interest thereon, for a period of thirty (30) days.

This to be effective June 18, 2017.

of the Estate of Charlotte Pettus, deceased, upon request of Peggy Nelson requesting that the

estate of Charlotte Pettus be reopened in order to gain access to a pending lawsuit that is being

mediated.

After a discussion and review of this matter by the Commission, upon proper motion and

second, and it appearing proper to do so, the Commission ORDERS that the estate of Charlotte

Pettus, deceased be reopened.

The Commission further ORDERS that a bond in the amount of $1,000.00 be posted.
