Languages represent the world and its inter-connectedness. Languages allow humans to learn about each other, make friends, and grow. Acquiring language is to acquire knowledge; speaking is understanding. Each country is unique. They have their own cultures, style, and languages. People around the world are divided by the inevitable language barrier that is formed when people from different cultures intermix. The purpose of TAXI is to break down this lan-guage barrier and enable the cultures and lan-guage to mix.
I would like to thank our readers, staff, and all the teachers that helped us along the way. Thanks so much guys; it was a great year! We hope to have a great staff again next year!
Thanks,

Winter In the winter, cold air
And the snow begins to fall Christmas is quickly sidewalk And the children are happy.
After new year Christmas comes faster, and the snow keeps falling.
When the world is white with snow everything looks beautiful
Soon spring arrives, the snow melts, and life begins
again.

À New York By: Alanna Frattellone
Un voyage à New York pendant Noël.
Macy‘s. C‘est fantastique! Nous sommes prêts pour dîner. Nous dînons à Waldorf Astoria. Nous restons à
Waldorf pour la nuit. Une journée parfaite. .
To New York I took a trip to New York for Christmas. I went to see the christmas tree in Rockerfeller center. After that, I had dinner with my family. Later that night, we went shopping in Macy‘s. It was fantastic. Then we went to dinner at Waldorf Astoria. We stayed the night at Waldorf too. I couldn‘t have asked for a more perfect day.

La Playa By: Erika Serhus
La arena
El sol
Las olas
Y las tortugas.
Todo está perfecto.
Los peces nadan rápidamente a través
De las profundidades centelleantes del océano
Las gaviotas bucean.
Los niños están corriendo,
Salpicando,
Saltando.
La playa.
Es el lugar donde desaparecen las preocupaciones
Y el mundo está perfecto.
Al menos por un rato.
18
The Beach The sand
The sun
The waves
And the turtles.
Everything is perfect.
The fish swim quickly through
The sparkling depths of the ocean.
Seagulls dive.
Children are running,
Splashing,
Jumping.
The beach.
It is the place where cares fall away
And the world is perfect.
At least for a little while.

Le péché By: Anonymous
A Sin They walk together
Close, closer- their shadows converging and becoming one
Pain shudders throughout my body My heart drops; broken
it will never be repaired by the glue of his touch
21
Unforgivable, unbearable, unbelievable The father of my child with another woman
Maybe it‘s for the best; he loves us both Or maybe he will have to pay the ultimate price
The price of our child‘s pain Our house; now his It burns in flames
Life changes; Sin doesn‘t

The Earth Who is the god who lives in the sky, who‘s rain tastes
like honey? I wear the water like a soft suit, life isn‘t like what you have read
It‘s a book that you write while you live. Rain is the only sound; melancholy is everywhere It‘s all that I hear; I hide my feelings in my heart
It is a fortress filled with my own fears I‘m happy sometimes, but not often
I will let my heart be taken by the Wind.

La película que recién vi
By: Hunter Pearl

Eastern Europe and began a community in the for-est. The Bielski brothers found food and safety for others. They fought against the Germans to protect the community. They became friends with the Rus-sians. When the Germans attacked, the community
fled. The community crossed a river and built a new encampment. They lived there for two years, until the end of the war. I liked the movie. There
was action and drama. It was an educational film and learned a lot.
Mon Amour By: Ireland Clancy Aujourd‘hui je suis déprimée Hier j‘etais fâchée.

28
The Report on Fingers
Then visibility.
Fresh creases formed In the palms of my hand
Want wringing out.
Across an ocean Elephants,
The scorched grass. Broken fingers
Whisper memories.
The names beside me Have drifted, their mothers
Screaming through my veins
And into my lung We breathe together A ring that branches
To the tips of my being

Liberté By: Maddy Acker Je tiens à voler Au-delà du ciel.
Freedom
I want to fly Beyond the sky
Where I can be free
In a world to me
If in life I always flank I‘ll never find a home
31
Oh the sites I would see! If only I could fly freely
32
Ode to Blue
The color of the sea so great, so glorious, so bold.
The color of the little bird which sings outside my
door.
The color of my mother‘s eyes, that all-knowing stare.
The color of the sky, wondrous, marvelous, ever-
more.
The color which inspires lovers whose songs are full of woe.
The color of the berry, subtly sweet yet so deli-
cious.
The color which lent its name to whales, beasts so majestic.
Not a color but ―a mystery‖, poetically capricious.

The Encounter
During the night of October 17th, I was in the living room, where I read a book. My back was to the front
of the door, which was the entrance to the room. Sud-denly, I heard footsteps behind me, and carefully, I
turned my head around slowly. A man, with a dagger in his hand, stood in the shadows of the room.
Immediately, I yelled and rose out of my chair. This scared the man, but he recovered and told me, ―I have
to kill you‖. After the man spoke those frightful words, I had to think rapidly. Initially, I thought that I could fight the man, but I decided that this action would result in
my death. When the man walked step by step towards me, I still did not know where to go. After I looked
around the room, I had an idea. I wanted to jump out the windows in order to leave the house.
If the story above seems like a lie, you are correct,
because the story didn‘t really happen. If I was the man that was reading the book, I would have done
those actions that were mentioned above. In the end, I
35
probably would try to run far away from the man with the dagger. It‘s possible that I could escape the man, but it‘s more probable that the man would kill me. How
depressing!

Icy Soul Even if it is not winter My soul is still frozen
It seems that everything passes by If the summer could thaw me
Thaw all my problems I would just flow like the pond
I would flow into something new My soul can escape the pain
When do I feel happy? There is no love
And there is no hatred There are no feelings in my soul
Each tear is a snowflake Falling on the earth
All feelings accumulate Why me?
38
Do I deserve it? When everything is gone
What do I own? Am I being followed?
By a cold snow? Is it the rain?
The rain cloud in my soul Is it going to rain forever, or can my soul rest.

My Future
My future is something I think about a lot. What do I want to do? Where do I want to live? Essentially, what will be my future? I have ideas of who I want to be. I want to
succeed and be happy by studying and becoming a doctor.
It takes years of study to become a doctor four years af-ter college. I finished the first step by being accepted to a college (the result of study and work). But college is diffi-cult, much more than high school is. There will be more work and tests. To succeed, I need to be strong. I will take diffi-cult classes (physics, chemistry, mathematics). I get nerv-
ous when I think about it. But I'll have fun meeting smart people.
In assuming I manage to pass college, I will then go to
medical school or learn the skills I need to practice medi-cine. If I survive, I need to take the board exam When I succeed I will enter the residency. I'll be called a doctor.
As a doctor, I can help treat diseases. There are several branches of medicine: pulmonary, neurology, psychiatry,
and more. I know it will help many people.

My Favorite Sport My favorite sport is baseball. I have played baseball since I was nine. When I was in second grade, I joined little league. I was a little league player until I was fourteen. Now, I play for the school team and a travel team. I am a pitcher. I work with a trainer who was a profes-sional baseball player, and his dad, who was also a professional baseball player. I hope that one day I can play for a good college. Now, I try to throw faster, and with more control.

L’Histoire d’amour By: Elisa Stavola

The History of Love He is a diamond in a sea of pearls
An angel in a sky of love
He is the epitome of perfection
The Messiah of my life
The love that we share is stronger than the largest moun-tain
And stronger than the greatest love
But, I am not one for a romantic love story
It is too classic
Luckily, it is not that kinds of story
But it is not simple
It is complex
Think about that
Think about a love that is so complex it feels like you are

He tells me that I am his world
Look around, the love of your life could be right in front of your eyes
