Bay Shore Blaze Leaves Six Families Homeless Bay Shorg— Six families were left homeless on Saturday, when fire b$bed. part of the roof and upper floor of a " three story f rame build- ing at 376 East Main Street. The fire , of unknown origin broke out on the third floor at 10:40 a, m. on Saturday. Firemen had the blaze under control within 45 minutes but not before it had made six families homeless, caused six firemen to be overcome with smoke and resulted in one fireman being injured by filing glass.- REICH WINS BACKING Patchogue— Ralph W. Reich , of 63 Amity Street has been en- dorsed for the job of postmaster of Patchogue by the Democratic County Committee . The 55-year-old retired trucker had twice before sought office in Brookhaven Town. He was named to succeed the late A$eph W. Harrison who died sud- denly of a heart attack last month after holding that post for five years . DRIVER IS CLEARED , ; . , Stony Brook— A drunk driving charge was dropped on Saturday, a- gainst Matthew L . Clarke, ¦ former Alcoholic Beverage Control Board commissioner in Suffolk County. The charge stemmed from an- ac- cident that hospitalized an expec- tant mother . and her two-year-old son. The accusation had been made ,by Edmund FJood , of Richmond HU1, driver of the car into which the Neseonset man plowed. Justice of the Peace F. Duane Squire dismissed the charge on grounds of insuffic- ient evidence. CHILDREN BURNED Patchogue— Two small children suffered burns when a fire destroyed the home of a physician last Friday afternoon. Fire burned to the ground the home of Dr. Richard Bodkin at 285 Cedar Avenue . Bod-, kin ' s eight-month-old son and one- year-old Susan Ramalho, a neigh- bor ' s cliild , received second- degree burns . Another of the doctor ' s children' , Richard , five , was feared lost in the fire, but he turned up at a neighbor ' s house an hour later.
