Challenging The Way We Think and Live in the Coming Week
Nike gets the credit for originating the phrase “Just Do It”; but the simple truth is that the Bible clearly beat them to it. King David knew what it meant to “Just do it.” When he was “strong” and had “good courage” he was well aware that it was a blessed gift directly from heaven. David was advising his son on how to accomplish his God-given task. The task was overwhelming, but the passion to complete the task was deep within Solomon’s heart. As we see in our scripture Solomon was a little discouraged, as well as operating under a little fear. As a result he had to be reminded, through an encouraging word from his father King David, that the Lord God would be with him, and that the Lord God would not fail or forsake him. Do you get it? This is incredibly powerful stuff! What good news it is to know the truth about how our heavenly Father treats all those that are called “His people.” In case you are wondering who exactly His people are…well that would be you and me. Today when God puts a vision in your mind, a passion in your heart and a calling on your life remember that delayed obedience to God’s call in your life is really radical disobedience to God’s call in your life. Instead of choosing disobedience let us choose to trust Jesus, step out in faith and courage and “just do it.”We have each been blessed with the gift of free will and the choice to place our full faith in Jesus is ours to make. So what do you say, let’s choose wisely, lets just do it. Lets follow Jesus! Just maybe we should allow the real life example of Jesus to challenge the way we think and live in the coming week.
