TBA 2002-2013Prior to 2002, two conventions were held to determine the viability of hosting a basket

convention held annually in Tennessee. The conclusion reached was to establish an

association to host this annual convention. At the 2002 convention in Pigeon Forge, TN,

the assembly adopted Bylaws to establish the association and to elect the association’s first officers. Fall Creek Falls State Park is home

to the 11th TBA Convention. You are invited to enjoy the serenity of the park and the

camaraderie of fellow weavers.

To join or renew your membership, the form can be downloaded from the TBA website (www.tennesseebasketryassociation.com) or request a form from Pam. Dues are $20.00 per year.

Registrations postmarked beginning March 25, 2013 through March 30, 2013, will be accepted as first day registrations. Registrations received after that date will be assigned classes based on availability in the order they are received.

The registration fee for the 2013 TBA Convention is $75.00 and checks should be made payable to TBA. Your registration will include lunches for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Please include your registration form, the registration fee, and self-addressed, stamped letter-sized (4 ¼” x 9 ½”) envelope and mail to: Joyce Roberts at 1396 Land Harbor, Newland NC 28657.

When filling out the registration form, establish priorities for each day and list the classes in that order. Indicate which class is most important to you over-all and list the maximum number of class hours that you are willing to take. Every effort will be made to ensure you are assigned to the class you indicate as “most wanted” or your first choice class for at least two days.

Class assignments will be mailed out on or before April 18th. When you receive your assignments, the class fees will be listed. Individual checks for the class fees are due to Joyce Roberts by May 14th. Any classes not paid for by that date will be forfeited. If you wish to add additional classes to your schedule, after April 18, contact Joyce Roberts at [email protected] or 828.733.3869.

Cancellation policy: Your cancellation should be submitted in writing to Joyce Roberts and received by May 31st. A refund, minus a $15.00 processing fee, will then be issued. No refunds will be issued after May 31st. At that time it becomes your responsibility to have someone pick up your kits for you at the convention or they will be mailed to you at your expense.

If you have any questions about your registration, please contact Joyce Roberts.

General TBA Convention Information

On-Site Registration Table- This is your first stop--the place to pick up name tag, convention information, goody bag, and general information to help you through the convention.

Hospitality Room - The Hospitality Room will be away from the Conference Room. No food or drinks not purchased through the restaurant may be taken into the Conference Room. Please respect the Conference Center’s rules.

Basket Swap- This is an excellent opportunity to offer your basket to another TBA member through a random drawing.

Marketplace - We invite you to our Marketplace where teachers and convention participants sell basket-related items such as patterns, kits, baskets, shirts, jewelry, supplies and tools.

Raffle - Please indicate on your Arrangements form if you are willing to donate a basket related item for the raffle. TIP: BRING ADDRESS LABELS to apply to raffle tickets if you want to avoid writing your name on each raffle ticket. Remember that the money raised through the Raffle is the “seed money” for TBA Convention 2014.

Door Prizes- These donated items are awarded through random drawings at various times through the convention. These donated items will receive volunteer tickets.

Vendors Room- Vendors will be set up in the Cascade Room. Hours will be posted on the door.

Volunteer Coordination- The success of the convention is dependent upon the volunteer hours of many people. Each hour of volunteer time and/or donated item equals 1 ticket for a special drawing for only volunteer tickets.

Basket Class Etiquette- Each teacher attempts to help each student complete his/her basket within the allotted time. Tardiness, cell phone usage, shopping, excessive time away from class, excessive time in the Hospitality Room, etc may require project completion without teacher assistance.
