Product Advantages and Applications
TS affords drainage systems lasting protection
against silting up.
Granular drainage material remains free draining, thus ensuring
speedy, effective drainage of the subsoil.
TS provides excellent filter properties with high water permeabilityand retention capability to soil particles even under high loads.
TS offers high long-term performance due to the use of selected
raw materials.
The production process (continuous filament) guarantees
the consistent use of highest-quality materials.
The raw material polypropylene is resistant to all chemical and
biological agents usually occurring in soils and building materials.
Polypropylene cannot be dissolved in water thus has no negative
influence on ground water.
The polypropylene used for the production of TS is equipped
with a UV-stabiliser to allow prolonged exposure to sunlight.
TS is the ideal separation and filter geotextile
for civil engineering.
Full design thickness of the base course is ensured over
the working life of the structure by preventing the ingress
of fill material into the fine-grained substrata. Compactabillity of the fill is improved and a more uniform
load distribution ensured.
Stability of the subsoil is increased due to faster
consolidation, long-term settlements are reduced.
TS provides balanced mechanical and hydraulic proper-
ties, optimized to resist installation damage on the one
hand and to provide sufficient reinforcement properties to
ensure the separation and load distributing effect on the
other hand.

Product Advantages and Applications
P is the ideal geotextile for protection of
geomembranes.
P prevents direct contact of pointed stones with a mem-
brane. The combination of product density and thickness
reduces any such stresses which otherwise might punc-ture or tear the membrane.
P avoids high friction forces between gravel and membra-
ne on slopes.
The permeability in the plane of P allows draining of water
and gases.
P geotextiles are best suitable for protection purposes
due to the special production technology.
The production process allows the use of high quality
polypropylene only. This raw material is resistant to all
chemical and biological agents usually occurring in soilsand building materials. Polypropylene cannot be dissolved
in water thus has no negative influence on ground water.
P is especially stabilised against UV radiation to allow
prolonged exposure to climate.
P shows high tensile strength at low elongation to reduce
deformation of membranes and to better maintain its
protection effect.
P has high tensile strength to reduce risk of slipping
failure on slopes.

Product Advantages and Applications
F is eminently suited as filter layer
under the revetment.
The stability of the coast line or river bank
is ensured as fine soil particles cannot be
eroded by waves and currents. Free flow between ground water and the
open water is ensured preventing the
build up of hydraulic pressure that could
endanger the stability of the revetment.
Installation is easier and less
expensive than mineral filter layers.
While mineral filters have to be adapted
to the local soil conditions of the particu-
lar coastal area F can be used for nearly
all types of soil.
F consists of two layers of geo-
textiles.
The grey layer is designed as filter layer.
It permits the retention of fine soil parti-
cles and simultaneously maintains highwater permeability. The filter behaviour
is defined by the number of constrictions
which is dependent on fibre diameter, geo-
textile opening size and thickness. Geo-
textiles with more than 40 constrictions
(e.g. thicker filter fabrics) tend to clog.
Therefore F is equipped with a second
geotextile layer to keep the thickness of
the filter layer within the optimum range
and at the same time allow it to accomo-
date high mechanical stress.
The blue layer is designed as protec-
tion layer. It prevents the filter layerfrom being damaged during installation
and service life. This layer has a larger
opening size compared to the filter layer
so that it will not interfere in the filtration
process and thus minimize the risk of
clogging.
A geotextile filter system

the advantage of utilizing high forces in the
geosynthetic at low elongation. This will
result in less deformation than with regular
woven geotextiles.
Other advantages of Geolon PP are the high
UV-resistance, it is chemically inert, and can
easily be prefabricated into large panels for
simple installation.
Main application areas are road and railway
constructions, embankment foundations,
temporary retaining soil structures and
other applications for which not only the
separation function of the geosynthetic
is important but moreover the reinforc-
ing tensile strength of the material is alsosignificant.

Product Advantages and ApplicationsRock PEC has been developed to combine
the functions reinforcement, confinement,
separation, filtration and drainage in one
product. The combination of reinforcement
and drainage makes Rock PEC perfectly
suitable to reinforce soil structures which are
constructed with intermediate or fine soils.
These types of soil are often locally available,
but tend to be susceptible to porewater pres-
sure build up and are normally not suitable
to build steep reinforced soil structures. The
excellent drainage or in-plane permeability of
the PEC enables an accelerated dissipation of
excess pore water pressure and consequent
increase in shear strength. Compared to
geogrids or woven geosynthetics, this results
in significantly higher short term soil strength
characteristics and hence buildability. Rock
PEC facilitates construction with these soils
and shortens installation time.
Due to the better creep resistance of polyester
in comparison with polypropylene and poly-
ethylene, Rock PEC permits a more eco-
nomical design. The non woven protects the
reinforcing yarns against mechanical damage
during installation further improving the long
term design strength of the product.

Not only in reinforced soil structures, but
also in road and railway applications, Rock
PEC products provide the ideal combina-
tion of functions. It separates the granular
base course layer from the soft and possibly
saturated subgrade, maintaining the mechani-
cal and physical properties and the effective
thickness of the base course over a longer
service period. The unique filter and drainage
capability of Rock PEC allows free water flow,
enabling accelerated dissipation of excess
pore water pressure. Besides, it prevents mi-
gration (pumping) of fine soil particles from the
subgrade into the base course. Stabilisation of
the subgrade and reinforcement of the base
course layer is provided by the high strength
polyester yarns. In effect the PEC does the
job of a separation geotextile and a geogrid
combined.
This results in the following benefits for
road- and railway applications:
Improved service life
Equivalent performance with reduced
base course thickness
Minimized disturbance of subgrade
Provide access and constructability over
very soft surfaces
Establish a well-compacted non
yielding platform

Product Advantages and Applications
The way Miragrid GX is manufactured has
two major advantages. Firstly the machine
direction ribs are in a straight line, leading
to minimal initial strain, mostly referred toas construction strain (its the percentage
which a product elongates before actual
tensile strength is mobilized). Secondly, all
the junctions are knitted firmly together,
and with the specially developed coating,
Miragrid GX is a very stable yet flexible
geogrid. Miragrid is light weight and sup-
plied on 5,2 m wide rolls. They are easily cut
to the required length, easily installed and do
not have sharp edges, unlike rigid geogrids.
Especially in higher tensile strength areas,
the recoiling effect of rigid geogrids, the time
to cut the material and the risk of injuries tothe workers makes installation much less
satisfactory than with Miragrid.
Miragrid GX has been specially designed for
reinforcement of granular, fine to coarse-
grained non-cohesive soils. The use of high
tenacity polyester yarns result in excellent
creep resistance, and the high molecular
weight also makes the yarns resistant to the
potential degrading effects of hydrolysis and
chemical attack for the range of pH normally
encountered in reinforced soil environments.
Due to the open structure and the rough sur-face of the grid the soil to geosynthetic fric-
tional interaction is optimised. This improves
the performance of the geogrid via better
shearing and pull out resistance which en-
ables even more economic Miragrid based
designs.
For segmental concrete block wall applica-
tions, Miragrid GX geogrids can easily be in-

Miragrid GX is primarily used for reinforce-
ment of retaining walls, bridge abutments
and steep reinforced slopes. The biaxial

Product Advantages and Applications
Envirofelt CO prevents surface erosion on steep
slopes and provides optimum support for the
long lasting growth of vegetation.
The mat retains humus and by doing this helps
plants through the critical rooting phase.
As a result of the natural rotting process of the
coconut fibres, Envirofelt CO acts additionally
as a fertiliser which promotes plant growth. The
product lifespan of up to five years guarantees
a very adequate rooting phase. In the process,
natural vegetation can grow freely and take
over the task of ground stabilisation.
TenCate Polyfelt Envirofelt CO
TenCate Polyfelt Envirofelt CO is made from 100% natural, biodegradablecoconut fibres (coir). The biodegradation process of the coir adds organicnutrients to the soil, thus acting as fertilizer. Envirofelt CO has the necessarystrength to hold soil in place, thereby preventing surface erosion.

is evenly appliedover the whole area, extendingmax. 10 cm over the edge of thegeocomposite to be installed. Thetype of the tack-coat depends onthe climatic conditions and on thetype of asphalt overlay to be used.

Installation of the paving feltstarts after curing of the emul-sion has began, as this smallquantity cannot bleed through.PGM is laid into the tack-coatby unrolling using speciallydesigned laying equipment.Pretensioning is not necessary.
Even distribution of the second tack coatquantity (B), consisting of parts B1 and B2: B1 is required to saturate the paving felt
approx. 0.8 kg/m2 of 70% emulsion. B2 is required to embed the chippings. The
quantity to be applied varies according to therecommendations of the emulsion producer, and depends on the quality, quantity, shapeand size of the chippings to be used as for
conventional surface dressing applications. Immediately after application of the emul-
sion on top of the paving felt, the requiredquantity of chippings is spread evenly. Thisis followed by compaction, preferably withrubber-tyred rollers.
In the case of double or multi-layeredsurface dressings, it must be assured thatthe tack-coat of the second layer is in fullcontact with the first layer.
After a period of 1 to 3 days, excess chip-pings should be removed using appropriateroad-sweeping equipment.
In the case of spot maintenance, the pavingfelt can be laid into the uncured emulsion, after which the surface is covered with sandto allow temporary traffic.
The hot-rolled asphalt (min. thick-ness 40 mm) can be installedimmediately after the unrollingof PGM-G. It is recommended to use
crawler-type pavers. The temperature of the asphalt
mix must not exceed 160Cduring installation. This nor-
mally corresponds to a mixingtemperature of max. 190C.
At high ambient temperatures,or if an excess of tack-coatbleeds throught, sticking ofthe tyres of the paver of truckscan be avoided by spreadingasphalt mix or chippings intothe wheel paths.

TenCate Polyfelt PGM-G
TenCate Polyfelt PGM-G is a high-strength geocomposite consisting of a mechanically bonded continuous-
filament nonwoven made from 100% polypropylene and reinforced glass filaments.
DESIGN PRINCIPLE-) The calculation is based on a comparison between the result of standard calculations for pavement rehabilitation and a
calculaton using a so called fabric effectiveness factor (FEF). The result of the comparison is the extende lifetime of the
structure due to the use of the geosynthetic material.
The pavement calculations are done according to the manual series 17 (MS 17) of the Asphalt institute (USA) or according
to a mixture out of MS 17 and the RVS 3.63 (Austria).
The FEF is evaluated by laboratory testing. Test according to Simulation testing of geotextile membranes for reflective
cracking Proceeding out of the 2nd Int. conf. geotextiles Vol.2.
1) Strength values refer to the glass filament reinforcement.
Important precaution! Store rolls in a dry place! Follow the installation guidelines!
