Body VentDouble Block and BleedWhether in the open or closed position,
pressure on each side of the ball is
blocked from the body cavity by the
seat ring. The body cavity can be blown
down or drained through the body port.
Stem Seals
Cameron ball valves incorporate delta
and lip seals made of PTFE in the upperstem area. PTFE is a low friction, non-
deteriorating material that is not subject
to rapid decompression explosion. Valve
stem sizes 2 and larger have a provi-
sion for the injection of sealant to
establish a secondary seal.

Distinctive Body Design
The Cameron all-welded ball valve body is compact and streamlined for maximum
strength and minimum weight. Forged steel is used to assure uniform fine grain
structure and toughness.
The spherical body provides maximum resistance to pressure and pipeline stresses.
This compact spherical design also eliminates body flanges to reduce overall size andleak paths. This lightweight design allows for significant savings in overall structural
reinforcement costs, particularly in offshore platforms. The stand alone design
means that no extra foundations or supports are needed. In addition, the spherical
shape creates easier installation, coating and wrapping procedures than standard
bolted concepts.
Trunnion Mounting
Regardless of size or pressure rating, every Cameron ball valve is trunnion-mounted.
High strength forged stems are located in PTFE-impregnated stainless steel bearings
for smooth, accurate operations. Trunnion mounted stems absorb the thrust from line
pressure, preventing excess friction between the ball and seats, so even at full rated
working pressure, operating torque stays low.

Secondary Seat Seal
The secondary seat seal sealant injection system provides a fast, simple way of
restoring tight shut-off if any foreign object should damage the sealing surfaces.
The injection system can also be used for routine flushing of the seat ring area in
services where this may be required.
Automatic Adjusting Seats
At low pressures, seat-to-ball contact is maintained by Bellville springs. At higher
pressures, seat contact is reinforced by line pressure. Tight long term shut-off is
obtained by Nylon seat inserts which are firmly locked into the seat ring. If required,
substitute materials can be used in the insert of the ring. Pressure energized lip seals
made from PTFE are used between the seat ring and the inside of the body.
Non-Lubricated Design
Self lubricated, low friction PTFE is
used for stem bearings, stem seals, and
body seats. Nylon or other low friction
materials are used for seat inserts.
Self-lubricating seals and stem bearings
give predictable operating torque for
the life of the valve.
Rotating Seats
Cameron ball valve sizes 14 and larger
incorporate the exclusive rotating seat
feature. Both seats rotate 15 degrees
each time the valve is closed, exposing a
fresh sealing surface to the critical area
where flow is pinched off.
Automatic Internal Relief of Body Pressure
Relief of excess body cavity pressure is automatic, avoiding dangerous pressure build-
up. Any pressure exceeding downstream line pressure by approximately 200 psi
pushes the downstream seat away from the ball, allowing the pressure to escape
into the pipeline.

Materials
Materials used in ball valve construction are broadly equivalent
at all Cooper Cameron Valve manufacturing plants. However,
the availability of local supplies, the need to conform to nation-
al standards and to offer various trims may necessitate some
variations. In corrosive applications, valve trims can be offered
using various types of alloys and stainless steels. For more
information on material specifications and properties, please
contact your local Cooper Cameron Valves representative.
Torque Information
Please contact your Cooper Cameron Valves representative to
obtain a copy of the engineering bulletin which provides
detailed torque information for sizing of power actuators.

Valves are grouped individually by pressure class. For conve-
nience, separate tables are provided for valves with fullopenings (same ball bore and end in side diameter.) and
reduced openings (bore one type size smaller than end inside
diameter).
The tables also list the final dimensions and approximate
weights for each valve with the operator that is normally
furnished.
The data is for your general information only. Design changes
do become necessary from time to time and these could result
