AES' Tuljaram Chaturchand College is one of the leading and prestigious colleges in Maharashtra. Since its inception in 1962, the college has been providing quality education and contributing to academic, social and cultural growth of the society especially from the semi-urban areas. Our motto, 'We for Students' is at the heart of everything we do at the college. We aim to not just impart knowledge but also inculcate wisdom, compassion and a humanitarian spirit among the students.I am very much delighted that the of Third issueTCC Chronicle is all set to go to print. This issue is very special because during this tenure, college has achieved many milestones including A+ grade (CGPA 3.55) NAAC from for the third cycle of Assessment and Accreditation, the Best College Award Best Principal and the awards from SPPU, Pune and many more. The present issue is a snapshot of various academic activities and advancements the college has made in the last couple of months i.e. from December 2016.I would like to thank Hon. This issue provides snapshots of various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. NAAC Reaccredited A+ grade with CGPA -3.55
A three members National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) peer team visited the college on 2nd, 3rd and 4th February 2017 for the th i rd cyc le of assessment and accreditation. The team was headed by former Vice Chancellor, Periyar University, Madurai, Prof. K. Muthuchelian. Other team members were Prof. R. G. Allagi, former principal, BVV Sangha's Basaveshwar Commerce College, Bagalkot, Karnataka as the co-coordinator and Dr. M. Venkateshwar, former Professor and Head, Dept. of Hindi, University of Hyderabad. In the three days visit the team has taken the 360 degree view of the college. They visited all departments, verified documents and assessed the supportive facilities including Library, Hostels, NCC, NSS, and Vocational centre as well. The team interacted with the Principal, Management, IQAC Coordinator and members, faculty, non teaching staff, and students. They had meeting with the alumni, guardians, students and members of the governing body of the college. Moreover, the team took stock of the existing infrastructure and records available in the college and suggested remedial measures on the exit meeting on February 4th. Speaking at the Exit meeting, the Chairman of the peer team Prof. Muthuchelian and others appreciated the student's friendly teaching–learning process and also complimented the management for their proactive role and going extra miles to establish the Vocational Centre, which is the role model for other institutes and colleges. Kokare, IQAC coordinator, supervised the NAAC peer team visit.Under the leadersh ip of Pr inc ipa l Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar the college has taken continuous and tireless efforts to achieve excellence in the academic arena. It has witnessed many positive changes with the rigorous efforts taken by the top Management, Principal, Faculty, Staff, Students and other stakeholders. As a result NAAC awarded A+ (CGPA 3.55) grade for the third cycle of assessment and accreditation.

Dr Chandrashekhar V. Murumkar, Principal of AES'
Tuljaram Chaturchand College of Arts, Science and
Commerce has received the Savitribai Phule Pune
University's on 10th BEST PRINCIPAL AWARD
February 2017. This award has been conferred on
him in recognition for his commitment, dedication
and contribution in the field of education. Dr.
Chandrashekhar Murumkar has a doctorate in
Botany and has 30 years of teaching and research
experience.
He has been the principal of this college for the
last 10 years. He has published more than 60
research articles in various reputed National and
Internat ional Journals . He also got the
'International Plant Scientist Award' from the
Academy of Plant Sciences, India. During his tenure
the college won the and more 'Best College Award'
significantly, awarded an A+ grade by the NAAC.

Republic Day Celebration
The Republic Day was celebrated with great honour on 26th of January 2017 to honour the constitution of India as it came into force on the same day in the year 1950. Hon. Arhatdas Shah (Saraf), President AES, was the chief guest for the programme along with other dignitaries- Hon. Shri. Jawahar Shah (Wagholikar), Secretary, Hon. Shri. Milind Shah (Wagholikar), Hon. Shri. Vikas Shah (Lengarekar), Members of the governing council respectively, Hon. Rajkumar Shah, Dr. Rajendra Mutha, Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar, Vice Principals, Faculty members, non teaching staff and students were present on the occasion. The day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the students, faculty and staff of the college. An excellent parade and salute event was held by the NCC cadets at the college ground.
AES' Tuljaram Chaturchand College and HDFC Bank, Baramati in association with the Late Manikbai Chandulal Saraf Blood Bank, Baramati organized the Blood Donation Camp in the college premises on 9th December 2016. The Chief Gue s t o f t h e c amp wa s Pr i n c i pa l D r. Chandrashekhar Murumkar and Vice Principal Prof. Maruti Kokare, inaugurated the camp. The Principal congratulated the Organizer Mr. Gautam Jadhav, Physical Director for organizing such social event. The faculty, staff and students were the main blood donors. More than 100 volunteers participated in the programme and donated their blood as a part of their service to the humanity.

NSS Special Winter Camp
NSS Special Winter Camp was organized by the college at the adopted village, Songaon, Tal. Baramati, in Pune district from 19th December 2016 to 26th December 2016. The special camp was the joint venture with Department of NSS of SPPU, Pune. The university and the college had taken initiative in organizing this special winter camp with the sole purpose of supporting the campaign 'Swachha and Swastha Bharat Abhiyaan.' Principal Dr. C. V. Murumkar, the chief guest and chairman, inaugurated the camp on 19th December 2016. Hon. Urmila Bodre, Sarpanch of Songaon, Shri. Viraj Deokate, Shri. B. B. Shende, Gramshevak, Shri. Dadasaheb Gophane, Programme officers, faculty and staff members, students volunteers were also present on the occasion. Around 150 students-volunteers of NSS, along with their Unit Heads Dr. Bhagwan Mali, PO, Prof. Vilas Kardile, PO, Dr. Pratibha Jawale, PO, Prof. Sushil Deshmukh, APO, Prof. Vaibhav Landge, APO and other faculty members attended the 7days camp with tremendous devotion and dedication. The campers conducted the following activities during their stay in the village. They organized cleanliness drive in the adopted village and cleaned roads, removed thorny shrubs, made waterbasins to the growing trees and also dug 52 soak pits for the construction of toilets in the village. They also organized medical checkup camp for the villagers in association with Dr. Ashok Deshpande's Niramay Medical Foundation, Baramati. Volunteers spread awareness about the equality of boys and girls in society and equal opportunities to both the genders. They held meetings, delivered speeches, interviewed villagers and distributed literature related to this gender equality issue. During the camp lectures of experts on various social issues were arranged for the students and villagers as well.The villagers also responded positively and enthusiastically to the campers. The camp was concluded on 26th December 2016. The winter camp proved to be a great success.

of the college. Hon. Shri. Jawahar Shah (Wagholikar),

Premarital Counseling Workshop
Premarital Counseling Workshop was organized by the
Department of Psychology for students to explore and
strengthen their relationship in a safe, non-judgmental
and supportive place. The purpose of the workshop was
to make students understand their relationship and ways
to deepen their connection. During the workshop

Convocation Ceremony
ndTuljaram Chaturchand College's 2 Convocation
Ceremony was held on 6th February 2017 at the
beautiful venue of Jeevraj Hall of the college. The
Chief Guest for the convocation was the
honourable former Vice Chancellor of Shivaji
University Dr. N. J. Pawar. Hon. Shri. Arhatdas
Shah (Saraf), President AES, was the President of
the function. Principal Dr. C. V. Murumkar
welcomed the guest and Prof Shivaji Gawade,
CEO, introduced the programme. Also in
attendance were other dignitaries including Prof.
Maruti Kokare, Dr. Shivaji Sathe, Dr. Ranjana
Nemade, vice principals, Registrar Mr.
Abhinandan Shah, facu l ty, s ta f f, Gi r l s

The function began with a majestic and grand
academic procession followed by the SPPU Song
sung by students which was accompanied by the
Musical band of NCC cadets. On this occasion,
432 students were bestowed the degree. The
audiences were enthralled by the rousing speech
of the chief Guest. The function ended with the
National Anthem.

Annual Prize Distribution Function
On 28th February 2017 Annual Prize Distribution
Function was organized in the college. The
successful students in various courses have been
honoured in the function. Hon. Lieutenant
General Dattatray Shekatkar, Pune was the Chief
Guest, who delivered a motivating speech which
was followed by the distribution of Certificates
and Prizes to the meritorious students. Hon Shri.
Arhatdas Shah (Saraf) President AES, was the
president of the function. Hon. Shri. Jawahar
Shah (Wagholikar), Secretary AES, Hon. Shri.
Vikas Shah Lengrekar, member of GC, and
Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar were
the Guests of Honors. The programme was
attended by students, their parents, staff and also
members of the civil society. Prof. Sadashiv
Puranik , chairman of the committee took special
efforts. The function ended with National
Anthem.
Celebration of Geography Day
As a tradition, the department of Geography, this year,
also celebrated the birth anniversary of the well-
known Geographer Dr. C. D. Despande as 'Geography
Day' on 19th January 2017. Dr. Jyotiram More,
Associate Professor, BJS College, Wagholi, Pune was
the chief guest. Principal Dr. C. V. Murumkar was the
president of the programme. In his address Dr.
Jyotiram More shared his views on the topics- applied
Geography and various opportunities in private and
government sectors. Principal Dr. Murumkar in his presidential address focused on the relationship between
climatic condition and the growth of plants in various areas. For this programme 94 students were present.

Late Prof. R. J. Gandhi Lecture Competition

Department of Chemistry organized the Late Professor
R. J. Gandhi Lecture Competition for P.G. Students of
Chemistry on Monday, February 27, 2017. Students
delivered their talks on the topics of their interest which
highlighted the recent trends in research and
deve lopmen t i n Chem i s t r y. Pr i n c i pa l D r.
Chandrashekhar V. Murumkar inaugurated the
competition in the auspicious presence of honorable
judges of the competition Dr. B. M. Sargar, Jaysingpur
College Dist. Kolhapur, Dr. S. R. Pujari, DAV College, Solapur and Dr. Vasant Chabukswar, N., Wadia College,
Pune. In the competition 25 students from various colleges were participated. The cash prizes of Rs. 3000, Rs.
2000, Rs. 1500, Trophies and certificates were given for the team of two who stood First-Miss. Kaad Megha,
N., Pune, Second- Sable Anand A., Pune and Third- Miss. Kulkarni Trupti G. Baramati respectively. Prof H. M.
Wadde, HoD, and Prof. S. R. Kale, P.G. in-charge, took the initiatives.
Workshop on Use of ICT in Botany
Department of Botany organized a one day
workshop on “Role of ICT in Botany” on 25th
March 2017. Principal Dr. Ganesh Iyer, VP’
College of Commerce and Science, Indapur and
Prof. Rahul Shah, Department of Computer
Science were the Resource persons who shared
their views on the topics “Molecular Evolution
and its Use in Phylogenetic Relationship and the
Use of Google for the searching purposes

Cultural Activities

The students of the Cultural team bagged the first prize in the District Level Street Play competition on the topic “Voting Awareness and its Significance'' organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University' Student Welfare Association and Abasaheb Garware College, Pune on 16th February 2017. In this competition 10 students of the college were participated under the guidance of Prof. Bhimrao Torane. The winning team received Trophy, certificate and the cash prize of 5000 rupees. Later, the same is turned into the film and presented to the Honorable District Collector.
IQAC Youth Festival
The college believes in the power and potential
of the youth. Hence, IQAC Youth Festival was
organized to take over arts in all its forms. This
festival was a grand blend of various events
related to fine arts, theater, music, and the Indian
tradition. Every department has organized
various competitions and almost every student
demonstrated their talent.

Students Placement
In the month of February, 2017 the Techknit
Enabled Services Pvt. Ltd. visited the college for
the campus recruitment of the post graduate
students, in which students from various
departments took part in the recruitment drive.
Out of 37 students, 13 have been selected for the
telephonic round of selection and a few got
selected.
Study Tours
Department of Psychology arranged the study
tour of their UG and PG students at Manshakti
Kendra, Lonavala, Pune on 11th February 2017.
Department of Geography organized two study
tours for F.Y.B.A. (General Geography) students
and for SY/TYBA special Geography students at
Mahabaleshwar and Konkan on 11th and 12th
February 2017 and 8th March 2017 respectively.
Department of Botany arranged the study tour of
T.Y.B.Sc. students to the Botanical garden, Shivaji
University, Kolhapur, Amboli ghat, and National
Institute of Oceanography, Goa on 11th to 14th
February 2017.

Prof. Ravindrakumar Gaurihar Kudale has been
awarded Ph.D. in Marine Biology by Karnatak
University, Dharwad on 11th January 2017 on the
topic “Fishery Biology of Fringe Scale Sardine,
Sardinella Fimbriata From Karwar Water” under
the guidance of Professor Jagannath L. Rathod,
Chairman, Dept. of Marine Biology, KUPG
Centre, Kodibag, Karwar.
Miss. Tilottama Bharat Shinde, student of MSc.
Physics, participated in the State Level Avishkar
Competition 2016 held at SRTM, University,

Bahishal Shikshan Mandal
The college has a very vibrant Bahishal Shikshan
Mandal in association and assistance with the
Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. It runs
two schemes named Dr. Babasaheb Jaykar
Vyakhyanmala and Yashwantrao Chavan
Vyakhyanmala in collaboration with the SP Pune
University. Under each scheme three lectures are
arranged every year on various topics of social
and educational significance under the guidance
of Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar. It
aims for the overall development of students and
society as well. Dr. Tukaram Sawant is the
coordinator of these activities in the college.
