Over the course of our time together at the Haus, I learned about her family and difficult culture, what led her to become a Christian, and how that journey is unfolding in her life today. She is ministering in the midst of the global disaster of human trafficking. She is courageous and resolute. Because of her history, she lives unreservedly – ignoring selfish concessions. She wants to learn how to be effective and is confident God will provide what she needs. And she laughs with joy even after a sobering discussion about the areas where she will need prayer. She is inspiring. My new understanding of TCM is colored with thoughts of her story and encounters with others equally determined to make a difference in the world. They are the substance that wins the heart and the bite of cake that floods the senses. Words cannot compete with the experience of seeing their faces, sharing at meals, and joining them in walks through the mountains. Still, we pray that all who hear about TCM could be filled with deep excitement as they imagine these people and the work God is doing through them! A Visit to the Haus by Kelly Bryant Kelly Bryant 1

I’ve worked for TCM in the Indianapolis office for roughly two years. I am certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that I’ve combed through the Haus Edelweiss photo archives more than my own family albums. I have known much about the mission of TCM and it has been very good.

But as we all know, knowledge of chocolate cake is nothing like a bite of it.

I returned a few weeks ago from my first visit to Haus Edelweiss. During my two-week stay, I tasted just a morsel of what it is like to be surrounded by TCM students and I cannot adequately describe its flavor or effect. Being among such a diverse yet concurrent group of people, who are all denying themselves in favor of living a more meaningful story in service to Jesus, is intoxicating in the most holy way.

While the dynamic of the group was captivating, I found myself even more intrigued by their individual stories. I was so grateful to make a friend close to my age (mid-twenties). We

struck up a conversation during lunch and I quickly realized how fortunate I was to meet her.

At TCM we talk about our Lord’s Great Commission quite a lot. Why? First of all, it is what He commanded us to do. Secondly, our focus at TCM is developing International Disciple Makers. We equip men and women from Europe, Central Asia, and beyond to do just as Jesus told us to do.

May is a month in which TCM students who have completed their studies gather at Heiligenkreuz for TCM’s annual commencement exercises. A celebration occurs that includes family, friends, faculty, and more. But the focus of the weekend does not change from the focus of our ministry – Jesus Christ Himself. He is there too. It is a promise that is part of His Great Commission to us.

Sometimes I fear we omit this portion of the Matthew 28:18-20. It is our Lord’s promise, “And, surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

As we are going, which He instructs us to do; we may be timid or hesitant to share Him with others. These may be strangers or even friends and family. But why are we afraid? Jesus has told us “I am with you always.” We are not alone.

One of our students illustrates this point with this account. Recently he was traveling in a taxi in his home country (which for his safety we will not name). As they moved toward his destination, he said, “I felt the Holy Spirit tell me to share Christ with the driver. ‘Tell Him that you are a follower of Jesus.’ But I hesitated for fear of my safety. After all, the driver was likely a follower of the Islam faith as are most of the people in this region. And for me to share Christ with him could result in difficulties for me. I prayed as we moved along, ‘Lord

what should I do?’ Was it really the Holy Spirit that urged me to speak?

“Then the driver stopped the car. Not quite to my destination, he turned to me and said, ‘You are a follower of Jesus, are you not?’ ‘Yes,’ I humbly responded, ‘Why do you say that?’ ‘Because, the Holy Spirit told me to tell you that I too am a Christian.’”

Brothers in Christ, separated by a car seat, finally brought together by the Holy Spirit within us. A lesson learned. He is with us always.

We are not alone!

FINANCIAL REPORT

We at TCM are grateful to all our donors and to the Lord that our income at the end of April 2012 is over $65,000 above where it was at the end of April 2011. However, with the increase in students and other capacity building initiatives, our needs are also greater. We continue to pray for additional funds to advance our initiative of developing International Disciple Makers. To learn how you can help us with our new Great Commission Initiative, please go to our TCM website (www.tcmi.org) for information about enlisting in the GCI.

On May 6, 2012, the 18th Graduation Celebration was conducted at Stift Heiligenkreuz. This year 30 students completed requirements for diplomas.

Twenty students were able to be present at the ceremony. Dr. Gary Johnson, Senior Pastor at Indian Creek Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, and an adjunct professor for TCM, delivered the graduation message. His message, titled “A Graduation Letter,” was based on passages from Paul’s letter to the Philippians. Dr. Johnson presented a unique “Graduation Letter” to all graduates and guests in attendance. This letter, like Philippians, served as both a letter of thanks and a letter of challenge.

Eight graduates were invited to give testimonies of their TCM experiences. Julia Rausova of Czech Republic stated, “We have read, written, and learned much. Now we must go to battle! We are all grateful for the way the short-term workers, faculty, and staff have exemplified Christ for us so that we can better reveal Him to the world. Thank you, TCM.”

Graduates attending the ceremony represented 11 of the graduates’ 13 countries. They already minister in their home countries of Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan and will continue serving our Lord in their congregations and communities. One Certificate, 24 Master of Arts in Practical Theology degrees, and five Master of Divinity in Practical Theology degrees were awarded.

At the conclusion of the ceremony each graduate received a Bible, a gift from Christ’s Church at Mason, Ohio. Following the ceremony the graduates and their families were honored at a dinner at the Stift and a reception at Haus Edelweiss.

Please continue to lift up these graduates in your prayers that they may be fruitful and impact His Kingdom with servants’ hearts.

TCMII SUMMER CLASSES - 2012

Anita Renfroe Concertsby David Wright

Thursday, April 26 and Friday, April 27 were evenings of great laughter and encouragement as Anita Renfroe entertained the audiences at First Church of Christ in Burlington, Kentucky and Greenwood Christian Church in Greenwood, Indiana with the funnier side of life and inspired them with words of God’s great love for us. Anita has a special way of observing the world. She also has a deep commitment to her Creator and Lord.

TCM is pleased that Anita has said “yes” to partnering with us to spread the news about the importance of developing International Disciple Makers in Europe, Central Asia, and beyond. Anita invites TCM concert audiences to become part of the Great Commission Initiative and The Priscilla Initiative (which provides scholarships for TCMII’s women students). Enlisting in the GCI includes praying for TCM daily as we equip international disciple makers and financially supporting the Great Commission Initiative that provides the means to make such equipping possible. To find out more about the Great Commission Initiative and how to enlist in the GCI, go to the TCM website (www.tcmi.org).

Proceeds from Anita Renfroe concerts are designated for The Great Commission Initiative to help provide scholarships for TCMI Institute students. 7

Have you been threatened lately? Experienced hatred? Is there someone who would like to take you out? Or has turned family members against you?

If so, you can understand our students and their friends who are currently being persecuted.

Several have recently had to leave families and homes for the sake of

their safety. Others are living under constant threat of fines, police surveillance, court appearances, and beatings. These reports break our hearts. Please be in prayer for those suffering simply because they confess Jesus Christ as Lord.

They are a powerful witness. When we see what our brothers and sisters are willing to suffer for our Lord Jesus, it encourages us also to stay the course. Most of us have not yet resisted evil to the point of shedding our blood. But their witness helps us keep moving in the right direction.

In solidarity with them, we will continue forward. Our goal by 2016 as part of the Great Commission Initiative is to double the number of students from Central Asia we can serve to over 200. In the Spirit of Christ, we plan to radiate into places where His children are hurting and helping. We want His Light to shine through the 10/40 window!

He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world. He sacrificed His life, went through hell, defeated death, and ascended to authority over all that exists.

Because our students are following Him there, we will too.

Your fellow IDM,Tony
