AT A GLANCEChildren enrolled at TCM Shishu Neer – Malibagh

Children from different age group (3-12 years) are studying at our school in different four academic classes such as Play, Play-1, Nursery and Class-I. Total 129 children (64 girls and 65 boys) have enrolled into the classes at the end of 4th quarter and the number is above we targeted for the year 2016. 82 children (42 girls and 40 boys) were regular in the class. Allover attendance was 89% among the regular students. For certain reasons by end of this quarter total 47 children were dropped out and the major reason is floating trend of their family.

FINAL EXAM & RESULT DISTRIBUTIONThe project has been practicing the standard syllabus and course curriculum prepared though discussion with all team members of TCM Shishu Neer. The students have attended the final exam that took place during 07-14 December. 88% (72 out of 82) students have attended final. Result was published on December 29. All students who attended in to the exam were passed with good result.

PROJECT SUMMARYTCM Shishu Neer-Malibagh is a center for marginalized children and working women including a Daycare “TCM Sweet Home” that has been established in September 2005. Our center has the day care facility for working women’s children aged between 3 to 8 years. We can occupy 25 children at present and they can stay at our center from 9am to 4 pm during work days (Sunday – Thursday). A formal education center is also available in our project especially for the marginalized, dropout or street children in order to bring them into the mainstream program. We take awareness class in order to encourage parents to realize the needs of education for their children as well as to motivate students to attend the school regularly. The objective of this report is to highlight the most successive and failure issues for the 4th quarter (October – December 2016) of this year.

PARENTS MEETING AND AWARENESS SESSIONIn this quarter we have arranged 3 parents meeting. During this session we explain about final exam result, World AIDS Day (01 December), admission etc. We also shared the attendance of children, school timing, child nutrition, hygiene and clean environment and other relevant information that helps them to understand how well they can care for their children for the betterment of their future. We distributed final exam result on 29 December. Total 26 parents were present on 10 October, 22 parents on 30 November and 26 parents on 29 December.WALL MAGAZINEDuring the quarter children prepared a wall magazine on specific issues like “Victory Day”. Story, poem, drawings, monologues or any sort of reflection of mind initiated by the children for a unique presentation of wall magazine.MUSIC CLASSA music teacher is conducting class on music in every Thursday beyond their regular academic class. It’s a one hour class where a number of students participate together. In this class children learn national anthem and other patriotic song.RELIGIOUS CLASSHafez Md. Muzahidur Rahman from Ahsania Mission (51 West Malibagh) is conducting class on religion in every Monday beyond their regular academic class. It’s a one hour class where a number of students participate together. In this class children learn some Surah, Kalema & rules regulation to pray Salat/Namaz perfectly.ADULT LITERACY CLASSWe have started adult literacy classes on Every Monday & Wednesday at 3:00pm. There are 5 students in adult literacy class. We followed Ahsania Mission’s non-formal education curriculum for this activities.BIRTH REGISTRATIONTotal 78 students have birth registration certificate and we are motivating other parents those who haven’t registered birth for their children yet.

SPECIAL DAY CELEBRATION / EVENTSChild Rights Week (29 September-05 October): To celebrate this week 2 children from TCM Shishu Neer Malibagh CLC attend drawing competition on 28 September at CPD conference room, Shamoli, Adabor, Dhaka, organized by BSAF. 5 children joined the Opening ceremony and Human chain of Child Rights week on 29 September at Shishu Academy. 12 children joined the Cultural Program on 03 October at Shishu Academy. We arranged a rally by our school children. 60 students marched through the road next to the school with poster.World Hand Wash Day (15 December): 32 children joined to celebrate the day. We tried give them practical knowledge that how to hand wash properly and about hygienic issue.World AIDS Day (01 December): To celebrate the day we joined national level rally and seminar. In our center we arranged an awareness session with parents. Total 29 parents were present on that session. This year the slogan was “Avmyb H‡K¨i nvZ Zzwj: GBPAvBwf cÖwZ‡iva Kwi”.Victory Day (16 December): To celebrate the day we arranged a Drawing competition and cultural show by our school children. 52 students and some parents attended the program.Milad/Doa (13 October): TCM Bangladesh had organized a Doa program with the children of TCM Shishu Neer – Malibagh, teachers, head office staff and some guest on 13 October 2016 at 11:30am to celebrate the weding anniversary of Mizanur Rashid Chowdhury, Advisor & Sponsor and Adv. Mahmuda Kabir, Joint secretary of TCM Bangladesh.

DAY CARE SUPPORTTCM Sweet Home Day Care Center has been started to suit the demand of time. Children of domestic helper and young garments worker mothers are enrolled here. These mothers can work in tension free by keeping their babies in a safe and secured place and concentrate at their own work. Total 40 children have enrolled at the end of 4th quarter. 31 children are regular in day care center. We ensure basic support like food, clothing, health service and re-creation to all children within the day care time limit. Children can stay at our centre from 9 am to 4pm.

MONTHLY NUTRITION PROGRAM With the help of our chairman Ms. Zebunnesa Rahman and well wisher Ms. Nazma Binte Alamgir, every Sunday to Wednesday we provide milk and bread / milk and biscuit to all children. We provide lunch for children from Day Care & CLC on Thursday by the help of one of our well wisher Mr. Aman Ullah. In this quarter (Oct-Dec.) out of 52 working days (at an average) everyday 61 children have received nutrition food through our center.

HEALTH SERVICEAll children of this center received health service once a month through our health service day. Our networking organization PSTC is providing this service through their satellite medical team under Smiling Sun Project (SSP) located at New Circular Road. During this quarter every month 3rd Wednesday medical service were provide by PSTC. They have monitored growth of our children by measuring their weight and height, primary body check up. Also they have given advice for medication and other necessary guidance for the better health of our school children. Average 65 school children monthly received health service (6 children got prescription) in this quarter. Without this free medical service to our school children they also give advice to the parents for their better health and family planning with minimum charge. HOME VISITIn order to realize the nature of family and educational environment our shishu neer teachers regularly visit houses of school children. Also if any students are irregular in due course our teachers visit the student’s house to identify whether the student is sick or any else reason like family crisis and such that is preventing him or her attending the class. During this quarter the total number of visit students home was 47. STAFF MEETINGCenter supervisor is responsible to conduct monthly staff meeting. During the meeting they ensure that all staff are clear about their roles and responsibilities. They also reviewed the monthly performance by the center and discuss how to improve their quality of servie. There were three staff meeting take place this quarter dated on October 27, November 24 and December 29. MAINSTREAMING CHILDREN LISTIn this year a number of students have been migrated to mainstream school from Malibagh Shishu Neer. List of those students migrated into the local mainstream school is given below:
