Hi guys,I m Vignesh, a B.E graduate from Electrical and Electronics Engineering stream.
TCS came to our college as ON-CAMPUS Recruitment drive on January 30 & 31. Ourcollege staffs and placement officers said that the selection procedure comprises of 3rounds- Written test, Technical interview and HR interview. A week before the interviewour college arranged a placement programme from 'Productivity Reach'. They visitedour college and taught us how to clear the written test by solving many previous yearquestion papers of TCS and some possible questions. They also taught how to face aninterview.
This training programme was really useful. It helped us a lot.Then we startedpreparing for TCS. We joined as a team of 4 in our hostel room and prepared for thewritten test. My friends Anand, Andu and Jaisundar really helped me a lot in solving theAPS. "I have to mention them." The written test was conducted on 30th January. It wasan online test.
The question pattern for us comprises of Section A- VERBAL REASONING-10 SYNONYMS + 10 ANTONYMS + SOMECOMPREHENSION like FILL IN THE BLANKS.(20 MINS)
Section B- QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE- 36 QUESTIONS(40 MINS)Section C- LOGICAL REASONING - 12 QUESTIONS WITH 3 PARAGRAPHS AND 4QUESTIONS IN EACH.(20 MINS)
The training programme guys said that there would be DUMMY questions inwritten test which should not be answered. There would be about 5 dummy questions ineach question paper, of which only 2 questions at the most can be answered. Answeringmore then that can cause your paper can be disqualified. A dummy question is aquestion which has no answers even if solved correctly.
We completed the written test. The time was more then enough for Sections A& C.But for the quantz section there is no time. I rushed up and the last 15 wereanswered randomnly. Finally I answered all the questions. Only then I came toremember that there would be dummy questions. I was upset. But to my surprise I
came to know that my name was shortlisted. About 180 of us attended the written test.Only 14 of us were shortlisted. Unfortunately 3 of my friends were not shortlisted. Thenthe next day was HR. I started preparing for it.
I had Digital Logic Circuits and C,C++ as my Area of interests. I worked onthat. I also went through my project work. The next day we were called upon. I didnthave a sleep the previous night. I went to the INTERVIRE ROOM. They asked somequestions regarding my hobby. I was unable to answer. They asked questions in my corefield and some simple programs in C. I answered the C programs but could give the rightanswer in my core field. They were not satisfied with my performance. I understood thatclearly. The results were announced. Only 10 of them were selected. My name was notin that.
Recently i attended another TCS interview held on August 15, 2010 at VEL TECH
MULTI TECH COLLEGE in Avadi.Here the written test comprised of 35 questions with 1hour duration. I along with my friend Vallinarayanan prepared for the written test for 4days with previous year questions and R.S.Aggrawal book for Aps. The written test wasquite easy. There was a negative marking of -.33 for every wrong answers. So I madesure that all the answers I made were correct. I answered only 24 questions, butknowing all of them are correct. i m cofident of getting cleared in the written test. I wasshortlisted. Then the HR interview was very similar to the one I faced 6 months ago. Theresult was also similar. I was not selected.So friends here are some tips to clear the TCS interview:1) Get well prepared for the written test with topics like Percentage, Ages, Probablility,Profit & Loss, Numbers from R.S.Aggarwal Aps book. Also go through G.R.E.Barrons andprevious Q papers.The 35 question pattern will be easy than 72 QP. But the questionswill be long and many unwanted data will be given.
2) Make sure you read them carefully and solve them quickly as possible.
3) For facing the Technical & HR round you need to be strong in what all you havementione in your C.V.4) Make sure you prepare well for that too. I didnt prepare for Technical round. So youdont do that. Make sure you are strong in your area od interests and in your projects.5) Take ample rest before attending the interview. Sleep well. Be COOL ANDCONFIDENT. You will surely get it.

Any way, u wil first have to register ur names in the TCS site .....the password will be
provided by ur kolg.....then u will get a number & note down that number,that is regno..After that kolg will sent u a online test login id take this 2 numbers noted beforegoing to exam.Also the form of TCS duly filled in will be required if u clear the apti.Therewill be all seperate online Q Papers for individuals.........
We were given the time of 9:30...But the seminer started from 11.It was all about
TCS...their aims,projects,plans,industries........so anyone who hav not gone thr comwebsite,shld listen it carefully....at the time of interview u may face some Q like:Whatare the projects undertaken by TCS????
After that ,the online test............frankly speaking ....... the test was very hard...it has 3 parts1.English2.Q. Apti3.ReasoningNo negetive marks.All the 3 parts were tough...in english ----10 synonyms(u can getsome common like us if u solve some freshers world),10 antonyms(u will never ever getmore than 2 commons)...so be prepared.
After that 2 big passages----and related Q..........The Q's r analytical rather thanstraight.........Total 40 Qs..
in the 2nd part u will be having mathematicsQ ....... starting from cls 10 to Btechmaths.....also there was Q in my paper of geography that if the time of some place isgiven then find out the time of another(related to altitute).
The 3rd part u can practice from Barrons (if u r lucky then u can get any one outof the 2 common like some of my frinds).....2 reasonings & related Q...my passageswere tough more than my expectation & i didn't got any common...
That was all ......one part will come after another after the alloted time .........bt umay proceed 2 the next part if u want.....we thought that max of 40 will pass.....but itwas not.......
within 2 hours the result was out...............98 passed apti.....i was selected .......
then 22 panels were created..........we immegiately were taken to the panels.........
there were 1 panelist in each panels..they were helpful...
