Progression from Standard Grade to Higher

The progression route to Higher for most school candidates is still largely through

Standard Grade. It is generally accepted that a pass at Credit level in Standard Grade

should provide a sound basis for a candidate sitting Higher in that subject in the

following year, while a General level pass would be more likely to require an additional

year’s study to secure a pass at Higher

Current predictors

Grade 1 at Standard Grade 95% achieved a Higher pass

Grade 2 at Standard Grade 67% achieved a Higher pass

Grade 3 at Standard Grade 34% achieved a Higher pass

Grade 4 at Standard Grade 18% achieved a Higher pass
