Terminal security ItistheMerchant’sresponsibilitytosecuretheterminal,anyuserIDsorpasswordstopreventunauthorizeduse.InanyeventtheMerchantwillbeliableforanyunauthorizeduseoftheterminaloranyuserIDsorpasswords.Therearetwousersecuritysettings:
No security (Default)ThissettingdoesnotuseuserIDsandpasswords.Merchantsthatchoosetousenosecuritystillhavetheoptiontosetupastore/manageroverrideIDandpasswordtoaccessareasoftheterminalthathaveamandatoryrequirementforsupervisorpassword.
SecurityThisoptionallowstheusertosetupsupervisorsandoperatorswithanIDlogin.Thesupervisorsetuprequiresyoutocreateapassword.YoucanactivatethisbygoingtoDesktopMainMenuControl PanelLogonMethod.
Override PasscodeThisoptionallowsthebusinessownertosetupapasscodetobypasscertainfunctionality.Seepage7forthelistoffunctionalitythatcanbebypassedwiththispasscode.
Administering the terminalByutilizingtheusertypes,youcanhelpsecureyourterminalbysettingwhatterminalfunctionalitythateachofyouremployeescanaccess.Listedbelowaretheusertypesandtheirfunctionality.

Ifyouareuncomfortablemanuallyenteringcreditcardinformation,asabusinessowner,youcanrequestanotherformofpayment(anothercreditcard,debit,cash,etc.).

Force post transactions are disabled by defaultTheforcepostfunctionallowspriorauthorizationnumberstobemanuallykeyedin.Foryourprotection,thiscapabilityisdisabledbydefaultonyourterminal.Ifyouneedtoprocessaforceposttransactions,pleasecalltheTDMerchantSolutionsHelpDeskat1-800-363-1163toenablethecapabilityafterbeingauthenticated.ItisstronglyrecommendedthatyouprotecttheForcePostfunctionwithapassword.PleaseseetheMerchant Guideformoreinformation.
