Recently,TDLTElargescaletrialkickoffmeetingwasheldinBeijingbyMIIT.Over80representativesfromMIIT,CATR,localtelecommunicationmanagementbureausfromlargescaletrialcities,ChinaMobile,ChinaTelecom,ChinaUnicomanddomestic&internationalindustryattendedthemeeting.Duringthemeeting,Mr.Wen Ku,DirectorofDepartmentofScience&TechnologyofMIIT,pointedoutthatthislargescaletrialwasorganizedbyMIITTDLTEworkgrouponbehalfofChinesegovernment,targetingtoboostthematureofTDLTEindustry.

DuringtheperiodofBarcelonaMWC2011,aseriesofactivitieswereorganizedbyChinaMobiletofullyexhibitafastgrowingofTDLTEglobalecosystemandtofurtherincreasetheconfidenceofinternationalindustries.
OnFeb.14,2011,over400topexecutiveofficersandrepresentativesfrommorethan60operators,30vendorsandseveralinternationalcommunicationorganizationswerepresentduringtheSummit.ThesuccessfulorganizationofthissummitstatesthatTDLTE,asanewtechnology,isgettingwellknownandacceptedbymoreandmoreglobalindustries.

DuringLTETDD/FDDInternationalSummitinBarcelona,12chipset/terminalvendorsfromAltair,Coolpad,Huawei Hisilicon,Innofidei,Nokia,Qualcomm,Quanta,Samsung,Sequans,SonyEricsson,STEricssonandZTEdemonstratedtheirdiversifiedTDLTEproductsincludingdatacard,Pad,Booklet,dualmodedualstandbycellphoneandPCIE.HundredsofguestsfromtheSummitvisitedthosestandsandhighlyevaluatedthedemoandthosemanufacturescontributiontothedevelopmentofLTETDD/FDDconvergence.Thedemowasdividedintothreeparts:terminalstaticdisplay,applicationsdemoandGCFtestcasesdemowithRohdeSchwarzandAnite.BycoworkingwithMotorola,ZTE,NokiaSiemensNetworks,EricssonandAlcatelLucent,multiplemobilebroadbandapplicationswereexhibitedtotheguests,suchas24channelhighdefinitionVOD,3Dmovie,VoIP,TDLTEconceptcar,mobilevideocallandhighspeedinternetsurfing.ParticularlyapplicationsrunningonQualcommLTETDD/FDDcoplatformdatacardwonapplausesoftheguests.
DuringBarcelonaMWC2011,CMCCandVodafonedeployedLTETDD/FDDconvergednetworklivedemotogetherinordertodisplaythenewestachievementofTDD/FDDconvergencefrominfrastructureandterminalsides.InfrastructurevendorsHuawei (SingleBTS)andNokiaSiemensNetworks(FlexiMultiRadio BTS),assuppliersofnetworkequipments,providedplatformstosupportbothLTETDDandLTEFDD.Ontheotherside,chipsetmanufacturesQualcommandHuawei Hisilicon alsoattendedthelivedemoandbothcompaniesprovideddatacardstosupportbothLTETDDandLTEFDD.
Thesuccessofthelivedemoshowsthataconvergedglobalwirelesscommunicationnetworkisbecomingtrue.Withtheappearanceofamatureglobal4Gstandard,LTETDD/FDDinternationalmarketwillachievearapiddevelopmentinthenextfewyears.
Over120VIPguestsandspecialistsfrommorethan30operatorsandconsultingcompaniestookthedrivingtourtoexperienceseveralattractivemobilebroadbandapplications,suchasHDVOD,3partyHDvideoconference,IMSvideocall,onlinegameand3DVOD.Duringthedrivingtour,highpeakrate,lowdelay,excellenthandoverperformanceandmatureofLTETDD/FDDconvergedterminalswerefullyverifiedbythenetwork.

OnFeb.142011,aGlobalTDLTEInitiative(GTI)waskickedoffby7operatorsincludingBharti Airtel,ChinaMobile,Softbank,Vodafone,Clearwire,EPlusandAero2.GTIisaplatformtoadvocatemultilateralcooperationamongglobaloperatorsandvendorstopromoteTDLTE,astandardformobilebroadbanddevelopedbythestandardsbody3GPP.
GTIwillorganizeaseriesofactivitiestobringTDLTEoperatorsandvendorstogetherforsharingstrategiesofdevelopmentandtechnologyknowhow,expeditingthedevelopmentofterminalsandfosteringtheglobalroamingandlowcostterminals,etc.GTIwillhavecloserelationshipwithbothGSMAandNextGenerationMobileNetworks(NGMN)tospeedthedevelopmentofaglobalLTEecosystem.

During3GPPCT4#52andSA2#83meetings,ItwasapprovedthatanewMTRoamingForwardingfeatureshouldbespecifiedasanalternativetoMTRoamingRetry.
ThenewMTRoamingForwardingfeatureonlyrequirestoupgradeMSCs withinLTEcoverageinvisitingPLMN.Inaddition,thisfeaturereducescallsetuptimeratherthanMTRoamingRetry.Asaresult,operatorsareofferedabetterCSFBperformancebylittlenetworkupgrade.
