WELCOME

We believe it is important that our pupils take part in the wider

curriculum. Our aim is to provide a wide variety of Extra

Curricular Activities (ECAs) for pupils from Year 2 to Year 6

providing opportunities for pupils to be active, work with

others and have fun.

How it all works:

ECAs are free of charge with the exception of Booster and

Homework Clubs or clubs that require specialist materials

ECAs are offered on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and

Thursday between 2.20pm – 3.20pm

ECAs run for 5-weeks over four sessions per year as follows:

1) w/b Sunday 23rd Sept – W/b Sunday 23rd October

2) w/b Sunday 4th Nov – w/b Sunday 2nd December

3) w/b Sunday 13th Jan – w/b Sunday 10th February

4) w/b Sunday 10th March – w/b Sunday 7th April

[w/b = week beginning]

How to book your place:

1. Choose an ECA from this booklet

2. Check the ECA is available for your year group

3. Check your ECA is running during the dates you require

(see timetable on reverse of your letter)

4. Sign up for your chosen ECAs via the school website or

with parents by attending the sign up afternoon in school

5. Class teachers will confirm which clubs you’ve been

successful in signing up for

Once your place has been confirmed, all we ask you to do is

maintain excellent attendance throughout each session.

Enjoy!

For some of our great-grand-mothers the skill of weaving

was a necessity. Try to imagine having to weave enough

material to make a family tent. Now is your chance to join

weaving club - a fun club where you’ll learn how to make

lots of new things using old fashioned and very traditional

methods.

• How to design and make your own book marks

• Create your own bag or i-pod case

This list gives you just some ideas of the things you may make

at weaving club. Besides looking at different traditions

worldwide, there will also be opportunities to make things

other than those listed above so you can be sure to enjoy

yourself. This club is perfect as it will give you the necessary

skills to start making lots of new things at home during your

spare time, weekends or even during the holidays.

CRICKET (Year 4 – 6)

Year Groups: 4 - 6 Gender: Mixed

What it’s all about:

Cricket was first invented in the vast fields of England,

supposedly by shepherds who herded their flock before

becoming England's national game. After 100 years cricket

has now become a truly International game for two teams of

eleven players. The aim is to score a lot of runs and make

sure the other team does not reach that score.

What you will be doing:

Fielding drills: These can be done anywhere and help

with your fitness. Some examples include: Corner Ball Drill,

Batter's Race Drill, Chase and Throw Drill, Shy Drill

Batting: The art of batting is one of decision-making and

rapid reflexes. It is vital for the batsman to practice a

wide range of shots. To perfect these shots, the batter

needs to be drilled on striking the ball with varied power,

moving around in the crease and directing the shots

Bowling Drills: Cricket bowling differs from throwing a ball.

A bowler must bowl overhand and keep the arm straight

throughout the bowling action, instead of putting energy

behind the ball by bending and then straightening the

arm

Special Notes:

You will need:

 PE Kit & Trainers

 Water

 Optional equipment: Cricket bat
