Purpose: Preparing 21st Century StorytellersLibrarians are at the forefront of promoting digital literacy. Movie-making is a form of storytelling that engages students to see themselves as authors of digital content.
Movie-making involves collaboration, innovation, advocacy and education which prepares our students with the skills and knowledge to be positive contributors and participants in a global society.

About Digital Media ClubDigital Media Club is an after
school community service club for grades 4-6 that focuses on teaching
students how to make movies to help make Hawaii a better place. It was founded in 2008. Students are exposed to a variety of real world skills including audio and video
editing, public speaking, interviewing, storyboarding, and
scripting.

2. Research
Suggestions: Start your video with some interesting information (something that most people don’t know) or a favorite quote.

No copy and paste allowed. Must be original work.
3. Script: Add Dialogue & Setting
Why do we want to see setbacks in a story?Setbacks create drama. While they're not fun in real life they do make good fiction.Imagine how uneventful Jack and the Beanstalk would be if it went like this: Jack's family was very poor, so Jack sold the family cow at market so they would have some money. The end.
Setbacks in the story of Jack and the Beanstalk include: A peddler convincing Jack to trade his cow for a handful of beans; a man-eating giant guarding treasure in a castle at the top of the beanstalk. These setbacks help keep readers interested in the story.
Have students collaborate on a script together in Google Docs.

How to do it:I’d suggest using a long shot of the boy exploring the cellar, shot from behind a pile of old furniture at the back of the room
