Hard to believe God has given me enough ideas for #7 and I am starting
on #8. Over 30 years of teaching Sunday school and now in my 70s God
is still using me. I pray this be use for His glory, not mine. I give thanks
for the wonderful wife He has given me (Mary) who has encouraged
and helped me. God gives me ideas in dreams, sometimes just looking
at a trick and many ways. He has been so good to me. If this has been
helpful to you share it and share your knowledge and train those who
are to follow. To God be the Glory.

God Loves All
Verse: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal
life.
Material Needed: Professor’s Nightmare
Note: This is a simple routine for children
telling about God’s love.
Lesson
(Show the three sizes of ropes) There are no surprises, Children come in all sizes. Big, medium and small, God so loves them all. (Make all the ropes equal) Looking down from up above, He gives all equally His love. So no matter who you are Where you live near or far. He so very loves us all, (Show the three sizes of ropes.) Big, medium and small.

The Big Bang/Creation
Verse: Genesis 1-5 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
Exodus 19:19 “And as the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him in thunder.”
Job 37:4-14 “After it a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice, And He does not restrain them when His voice is heard. God thunders marvelously with His voice” Job 40:9 “Have you an arm like God?
Or can you thunder with a voice like His?
Revelation 14:2 “And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of
many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the
sound of harpists playing their harps.”
Purpose: This can be used to describe the beginning of the
universal or as an introduction to creation.
Material Needed: Chameleon Rainbow
Streamer. This streamer is turned inside out and
changes from black to a rainbow of colors. Most
2
people snap it and it just looks funny. Pull it through your hands to
make the change so it looks like the magic is happening in your
hands.
LESSON
Have you ever hear of the big bang theory? The basics of the theory
are fairly simple. In short, the Big Bang hypothesis states that all of
the current and past matter in the Universe came into existence at
the same time. At this time, all matter was compacted into a very
small ball with infinite density and intense heat called a Singularity.
Suddenly, the Singularity began expanding and the universe as we
know it began. Some say it happened over 13 billion years ago. And
some say about 6000 years ago. While the dates may differ, the big
bang was a fact.
We see the bible confirming the big bang in Genesis. Genesis 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. (Start with the silk on the black side and pull it through your hands to the rainbow side. Emphasize the darkness part of the verse when you show the black side.)
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. From there He created trees and animals and plants and everything else. (When you have the rainbow side exposed, you can point to colors and say things like green for all the plants, yellow for flowers and birds and so on.)
3
Have you ever been is a big storm and the thunder is so loud, it
frightens you? Now that thunder is just a local storm on this planet:
small storm, small stuff. Now imagine God, creating the universe,
the stars and planets with just a word. How loud would that have
been? It would have been indescribably loud.
(From here go on with the direction you want to take the creation of
the world lesson.)
PEEK A BOO, I SEE YOU
Verse: “Hebrews 4:13-15 13 No one can hide from God. His eyes see
everything we do. We must give an answer to God for what we have
done.”
Psalm 139:7-12 “ “7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I
flee from your presence?8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I
make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of
the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your
hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.11 If I say,
“Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around
me,”12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine
like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”
Goal: You cannot hide your sin from God.
4
Material Needed: Find a nice gift bag and cut
a hole in one side. Tape a clear plastic film
over it so you can see into the bag. You will
keep this hidden from your audience until the
end. Also 4 or 5 balls of different colors. I use
golf balls because they are solid and won’t get
dirty like sponge balls.
Set Up: Have the balls where they can be seen
and the bag laying on the table.
LESSON
Did you ever play peek a boo with a young child? When they put
their hands over their eyes they think you can’t see them. Maybe
they will hide under a blanket, while standing in the middle of the
room. To them, they are invisible to the world.
As we get older some people think they can do the same thing with
God. They believe if they do something in the dark or something no
one else can see, God won’t see it either. I will demonstrate with
these balls. Let’s pretend each one is something we do but think no
one sees us. Let pretend you go into a convenience store and steal a
candy bar. (You could have a chart made to show this or write them
on a display board. Give each color a name of a candy bar.) You walk
into the store, they are very busy and no one sees you slip a candy
bar into your pocket and you walk out. No one saw you or at least
you think no one did. Suddenly a person comes out and grabs you by
5
the shoulder and says I saw you steal that I am calling your parents.
How do you think they saw you when you saw no one was looking.
(Give them time to give some answers.) Well the answer is they have
security cameras that see everything.
We will play a game where someone will come and take a ball from
this bag and if I am wrong I will give you a prize.
(Open the bag, dump the balls in and choose someone the come up
and grab a ball. Do not let them see down into the bag and hold it so
it appears you cannot either. I reality you are looking through the
window and see which ball they are grabbing.) Go through this a
couple times and tell them. I was right all the time. I did that because
I cheated. (Turn the bag around and show them the window.)
But there is someone who sees EVERYTHING we do. We cannot hide
from Him. That’s right God.
(Read Hebrews to them.) “Hebrews 4:13-15 13 No one can hide
from God. His eyes see everything we do. We must give an answer to
God for what we have done.” And in Psalms we hear, “7 Where can I
go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?8 If I go
up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you
are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side
of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand
will hold me fast.11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the
light become night around me,”12 even the darkness will not be dark
to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to
you.”
Since you cannot hide from God, why not do the right thing the first
time. Peek a boo, He sees you.
6
Good Egg
Verse: 2Corinthians 6:16 “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though
outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed
day by day.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8 “7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the
race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me
on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for
his appearing.”
Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes,
and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying,
neither shall there be any more pain;
for the former things are passed
away.”
Material Needed: Humpty Dumpty
trick and how to perform it.
Goal: Life tears you down, but it gets
better.
LESSON
Believe it or not we all start as an egg. (Show Humpty Dumpty in
frame whole.) That egg is fertilized and grows and becomes YOU!
Growing up you have victories, defeats, sicknesses and diseases that
wear at your body. (Point out cracks in the egg shell.) But God is
7
always with us helping us getting us through with healings and
promises of a better future. God tells us in 2Corinthians 6:16 “
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting
away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” No matter
the circumstances, God is with you.
In our old age many lose physically and mentally. (Let egg break
apart.) Sicknesses, illnesses and mental conditions can deteriorate
but we must never forget God and claim, “2 Timothy 4:7-8 “7 I have
fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the
Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not
only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
(Put pieces of egg back into frame.) Believing God and trusting God
means we have left a trail of prayer, helps and a good life behind as a
legacy.
When our time is up we look forward to a promise of God. We shall
close our eyes on earth go to our real home and opening our eyes in
heaven we will see Revelation 21:4 fulfilled. (Show restored egg.)
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall
be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be
any more pain; for the former things are passed away.” We will have
a new body with no pain, no sorry and be in the glory of God.
8
Pride will get you Killed
Verse: Proverbs 16:18 “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty
spirit before a fall.”
1 Samuel 17:42-44 “Goliath looked David over and saw that he was
little more than a boy, glowing with health and handsome, and he
despised him. 43 He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me
with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 44 “Come
here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild
animals!”
1Samuel 45-47 “David said to the Philistine, “You come against me
with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the
name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom
you have defied. 46 This day the LORD will deliver you into my hands,
and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will
give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild
animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear
that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of
you into our hands.”
Material Needed: Shrinking and growing
head illusion. The first part is to let them
see your head grow, then when called for let
it shrink.
9
LESSON
Some people get themselves into trouble always looking like this.
(Go through the process of growing your head.) Did you see that?
My head was growing bigger than it should be. We can call that
pride. It’s where you believe you can do something you are not
equipped or trained to do. I bet you have seen video’s of people who
say I can lift that weight. They brag and when they are laying on the
weight bench and the weight it placed on them, it falls to their chest
and they yell for help because they are trapped. No they are all
embarrassed because they were prideful.
There was a big guy described in the bible who was prideful and his
name was Goliath. He was a giant of a man and taunted and dared
any of the Israelites to fight him. Everyone was afraid of him
because he was so big but they never considered how big their God
was. Little David showed up and gathered stones and approached
this giant, this big headed man. (1 Samuel 17:42) Goliath looked
David over and saw that he was little more than a boy, glowing with
health and handsome, and he despised him. 43 He said to David, “Am
I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed
David by his gods. 44 “Come here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to
the birds and the wild animals!”
45 David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the LORD will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the
10
carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals,
and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
Who won that battle? Right, David killed the prideful giant with the
big head. Goliath was to confident so he didn’t approach the
problem with the right attitude. He had that big head. To be ready
for the battle his head should have been like this. (Make your head
appear to shrink.) He should have been humble like David and
taken the battle seriously. But no his big head, his pride got in the
way. Before you say anything or do anything always consider are
you equipped to do what you are about to do or say. Don’t be
prideful, it will only lead to you failing and being embarrassed or
“small headed” and humbled.
We are All Sinners
Verse: Romans 3:23 says “All have sinned and fallen short of the
glory of God.”
Material Needed: Skeleton in the closet.
Ser Up: Start with the skeleton in the closet in
correct order. Follow along with the lesson for
the moves.
Goal: All have sinned
11
LESSON
Just like this door covers what’s inside this little room, our skin
covers our body. You cannot look at someone and see their organs
and bones without special equipment like X-rays or MRI’s. Even then
we are limited to what everything really looks like. (Uncover correct
skeleton) This is the physical realm. What about our minds, our
souls; nothing can show that to us. (Put the skeleton back into the
door and now it should be arranged top is body, second is feet and
bottom is head when shown. Uncover mixed up skeleton.)
But God, can see the real us. He sees the things you hide. He sees
your deepest darkest secrets. He sees our sins. He knows you are a
mess. You cannot hide anything from God. (Put skeleton parts back
in door. They should be mixed up.)
You say, I know I can be a good person, give money to charities, go
to church. God will see I am good person have everything together.
(Uncover mixed up skeleton.) Humans can never be good enough to
please God. Romans 3:23 says “All have sinned and fallen short of
the glory of God.” Only one person in history has been perfect
enough to meet God’s standard and that was Jesus. (Set the legs up
first, put the torso on top and then cover it now it should be
arranged properly.) We are completely out of our mind if we think
we can circumvent God’s plan. (Take the extra head and put it in a
vanish device. Show it gone.)
But for us, there is an answer. God loved us so much he sent His Son
Jesus to die for our sins. If we follow God’s plan, all is well. (Show
complete skeleton). Romans 5:8 “God demonstrated His love for us
in this. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” It is through
12
because of the blood of Jesus that God doesn’t see that imperfect
person. (You can add John 3:16 if you like.)
Holy Spirit will Guide You
Verse: Psalm 143:10 “Teach me to do
your Your will, for you are my God; Your
Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of
uprightness. “
John 16:13 “However, when He, the Spirit
of truth has come, He will guide you into
all truth…
Material Needed: 36” butterfly silk, small
can of Play-Doh , dove pan, rubber chicken.
Set Up: Cut a hole in the rear end of the chicken and load the
butterfly silk into it. Put the chicken into the load chamber of the
dove pan.
Lesson
(Ask for a helper and have the Play-doh out of sight.) I called you up
here for to handle a very dangerous item. Are you ready? It’s a
product that every mother and father fears. The dreaded Play-doh!
It’s the enemy of every carpet and couch in America. (give them the
Play-doh and ask them to get out a piece about the size of a ping
13
pong ball and roll it into a ball. Take it from them, make it a little
more like an egg shape. Ask them what does it looks like. After
several attempts, get them to say an egg. Ask them who lays eggs
and when they get to or are prodded to say insects, lead them to say
butterfly. Take it from them and say.) An egg, an egg is the beginning
of life. Just like you, young, beginning life and learning.
You go to school to learn but God has a way to teach you stuff too. In
Psalm 143:10, it says “Teach me to do your Your will, for you are my
God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. “Now if
God is going to teach you His will, you have to go through a process.
(Take the play-doh and smash it with your hand and roll it into a
caterpillar shape.) Now the egg is hatched and goes through a
process and what does it become? Right a caterpillar. In school you
have different subjects that feed your mind and I bet you have a
favorite subject. The Holy Spirit knows where you talents are and
will help and direct you to eat up that information to help train you
if you let him. The caterpillar, although they all look somewhat alike,
each type eat only special foods designed for them. One day the
caterpillar will come to a point where they go through a change.
What happens to them? (Describe the process of them making a
cocoon and turning into a butterfly. Have the put the caterpillar into
the dove pan and cover it.) Now we have to wait about 21 days for
the process to take place. (pretend to wait for a laugh.) You also
have to go through a process. You have to be born again. Become a
new person in Jesus. Once you become a believer in Jesus, the Holy
Spirit can continue to work on you. (John 16:13) “However, when
He, the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth…
14
Now the Holy Spirit can continue to train you with the talents and
gifts unique to you to reach and spread the gospel, the good news of
Jesus. It may be something simple as praying for another person,
being nice to someone or preaching and everything else you can use
to reach the lost. You are a new creature, just like the butterfly.
I am going to take the cover off the cocoon and you reach in there to
show just how wonderful the butterfly is. It will represent you
showing the world how wonderful Jesus is. (Turn you head and
pretend you don’t see it. Pull the lid off and tell them to pull out the
butterfly and show everyone.)
That’s not a butterfly. What happened? (Thank them and send them
back to their seat) You know this reminds me of a lot of Christians.
They have the gifts, they have the talent and ability but they just sit
there and do not honor God in their lives. What we need to be, (Pull
the butterfly silk out of the chicken and display it.)We need to take
all the stuff the Holy Spirit has taught us. We were fed what we
specifically needed, just like the caterpillars only ate certain foods,
to be what we meant to be. We need to put that talent, that gift and
our lives out there to bring others to the saving knowledge of Jesus
Christ. Our lives should be thing of beauty that brings others to
Jesus.
15
King of My Heart
Verse: Matthew 6:21” For where your treasure is, there your heart
will be also.
Romans 6:23 “the gift of God, the treasure of God is eternal life with
God.”
Material Needed: A simple trick called the
Magicians Insurance Policy”.
LESSON
Knowing God and making him the King of
your heart gives you the winning hand in life.
(Get a volunteer. Have them cut the deck and
in the process use your favorite method to
force the King of Hearts.) Now do not show me your card, but show
the audience and place it back into the deck. (Spread the cards out
face down and pick one.) Is this your card? No? (If by some chance
you do pick their card, go to the end of this lesson.) Is this your card?
No?
That didn’t work to well I have an insurance policy. You should
always have an insurance policy. I guess I didn’t do that well at all,
but let’s go to the insurance and see if we can fix this.
(Read the insurance and eventually show the card in the policy.)
Will you look at that, it’s the King of Hearts. Do you know who the
king of my heart is? We read in Matthew 6:21” For where your
treasure is, there your heart will be also. My treasure I hold in my
16
heart is Jesus. Treasure in heaven found in Romans 6:23 which says
“the gift of God, the treasure of God is eternal life with God.” My
treasure is guaranteed by my belief in God and Jesus as my Savior
and their promises.
The Hidden Spiritual War
Verses: John 3:16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” Revelation 19:7-10 7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. 9 And he said unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said unto me, These are the true sayings of God. 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See you do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Prop Needed: Dean’s Box This is an expensive item but worth it. Get to know it inside and out.
Goal: God loves us and there is a spiritual battle for man’s soul. God has a plan.
17
LESSON
(Box on table and ropes next to it.) In the world today there is an
unseen spiritual battle (Show empty box.) to keep man (white rope)
from God.(red rope) The ultimate goal is for man and God to be tied
together, (link ropes in box.) linked together forever.
But (pull rope out and unlink them) sin keeps us apart. God had a
plan, a good plan, a perfect plan to link us because he loved us. (put
ropes into box and loops out of holes and get ready to insert a stick.
If possible make the stick a cross.) Man on earth (white rope) looks
for a way to join with God. (Move the loop back and forth as it
appears to be searching.) (John 3:16)(Jesus loop) Jesus came to
earth with a plan. He can to die. We hung him on that cross with our
sins and he took the cross to pay for our sins and rejoin our
fellowship with God.(pull stick out) and show ropes linked.) The
blood of Jesus allowed us fellowship with the God of the universe
and a way, despite our sinful life and way to never leave him and be
lost again.
(White rope) We cannot see it now but we have a feast waiting for
us. (put rope through the box.) The feast is called the marriage feast
of the lamb. (Rev 19:7-10) A marriage is usually symbolize by a ring.
(Drop ring in box.) We, the church body is the bride and Jesus is the
bridegroom. A normal wedding ends with death do us part but this
one (Show ring on rope.)will have no ending just like a ring has no
ending.
18
Add Note: If it is easier to just use a stick on the top, say that Jesus
only carried the cross beam. This beam is horizontal, it pointed to all
of us on earth that sent Jesus to eh cross. Take a second stick and lay
it across the first to show the shape of a cross. This beam was put
into the ground horizontally, pointed to the heavens where the
Father is. The work of Jesus was done. Our sins were forgiven.
Our sins are Forgiven PAID IN FULL
Romans 5:1-2 “Therefore, since we have been justified through
faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in
which we now stand.”
Supplies Needed: Chinese Laundry Ticket. This
trick has Chinese symbols on it. You tear it up and
then restore it. You may see this as a gospel trick
that says the Bible cannot be destroyed or other
variations. But this time you have to make your
own. You need to make it big enough for your
audience to see. You need two pieces of paper
about 3”X18” or whatever you are comfortable with. On one paper
print $1,000,000.000,000, which will represent one quadrillion
dollars. On the second paper print PAID IN FULL. Fold the second
paper up and tack it to the back and hide it behind the first page’s
number 1. Roll up the first page so when you pick it up, you can
show the number 1. Then as you talk about more money, slowly
pull it out
19
from your hand to represent the number you are talking about. As
you tear the paper up, hold the pieces up until you get to number
one and put them on top of that. Fold the paper, hide the pieces and
produce Paid in full at the appropriate time.
LESSON
Start out with the $1 and ask can you buy your way into heaven. Pull it out farther to show $10, then $100 and so on. Ask if each level is enough to get you into heaven until you finally end up with the full amount. This amount of money is worthless to God and He owns everything. Tear the paper up, put all the pieces together, turn it over and show PAID IN FULL. Jesus paid for it all. Then give a salvation message.
Marriage/Divorce
Verses: Genesis 2:18 “Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
Genesis 2:24 “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.”
Matthew 19:4–6 “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together let not man separate.”
20
Matthew 19:8 He said unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
LESSON
We God first created man and woman, He joined them together and
as they had children, He proclaimed that a man and women become
one flesh when they marry. (Gen 2:24 and Matthew 19:4-6)We will
use this rope to illustrate they join physically and spiritually before
God. One marriage, one couple but so people don’t feel that way and
don’t think it’s worth it. They figured it was easier to just give up, go
to a court (Put rope into zig zag and break the rope.) and break that
commitment than to honor God by working on it. People were so
adamant about this they bothered Moses and begged for a divorce
system. Moses said because of the hardness of your heart there will
be divorce. Was this God’s desire, NO! Moses added from the very
beginning this was not God’s plan. (Put rope back together.) It is
God’s desire marriage stay intact. It is His desire husband and wife
honor each other by putting God first in their marriage. Once God is
first in your lives and hearts, I believe we will all learn divorce
should never an option.
21
Just for the Fun of It
Fun routine.
Supplies needed: Thumb tip and a 6 or 9 inch silk. The silk would be
the mouse in the poem. You can also draw a simple mouse like the
one shown. Just perform the thumb tip to the poem below.
I have a magic mouse friend,
He loves to run and hide.
But when I see where he goes,
I look but he is not inside.
I know he has a secret place
That is a mystery to me.
And when I least expect it,
He appears for all to see.
22
HOPE Verses: Psalm 147:11 "The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing,
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ
Jesus for you
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in
believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in
hope.
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the
conviction of things not seen.”
Supplies Needed: Make up a simple card like shown and fold it for
presentation. You unfold it as you talk with people.
Goal: Hope in the future.
23
LESSON
(Sow “E”) EEEEEE! You have all heard that when someone is
startled and scared. Something grabs our attention and we shout
out. Sometimes God puts things in our lives to get our attention and
we should be alert to that. Fear, we have nothing to fear, we have the
hope and knowledge that God loves us no matter what happens and
He is there with us.
(Show “PE”) PE! Remember that is school PE, physical education.
Muscles have to be exercised to get them to work at their best. As
Christians we should exercise not only our muscles but how about
PE standing for prayer exercise. We are told to “Rejoice always, pray
without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will
of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, ). No
matter what is going on we need to be constantly in contact with
God. Get to know Him so you can go to Him at anytime for comfort.
(Show “OPE”) Ope, remember the Andy Griffin show. He had a son they called Opie. I know it is not spelled the same but it is pronounced the same. Opie was a typical child who made mistakes and his dad loving corrected him to do better. God is like that He love us and helps us when we fail. Our lives should show the love and joy we have in Jesus. (Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”)
(Show “HOPE”) Hope, we look forward with hope and joy. We know God has a plan for us. (Hebrews 11:1 Now, faith is the assurance of
24
things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.) God loves us, He gives us hope for the future. Not only a future here but a future in heaven with Him forever where there will be no pain, no tears but filled with pure JOY!
Who Programmed Us?
Verse: Psalms 119:105 “ Thy word {is} a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Supplies Needed: Zig Zag CD, CD, Floppy disc if you have one. A bible.
Goal: God has given us minds to think, work, play, and create ideas.
LESSON
Can anyone tell me what this is? (Hold up floppy disc if you have one, if not start with CD.) A computer is nothing but a useless machine unless it is programmed what to do. Without a program it just sits there. When computers were first available for homes you would get a disc like this with a program on it. It may contain a game or a program for a job, but it gave directions to the computer to operate.
This disc inserted in had a job to do, but (Insert disc into holder and zig zag it.) if it is damaged it won’t run the program. We were given a program to follow and it is right here. (show a bible) It is God’s word. We can learn how to live a proper and right life by reading the instructions in the bible and following them. We are told in Psalms
25
119:105 “Thy word {is} a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
God gave us a program to follow. Read and follow the bible and we will get life right. (Restore the disc.) Don’t read it, don’t read and follow God’s word and we won’t know God, His love and His desires for us. Heaven is our goal and the Bible is our program to get us there.
Difference is Good even though we are the Same
Verse: John 13:34. “A new command I give you: Love one another. ... As I have loved you, so you must love one another
Supplies Needed: Hippy Hop Rabbits
LESSON
When I was growing up we had TV sets that only showed black and
white programs and movies. The sky was white; the trees were
black or gray. Unless the movie or program was great, it was just
boring. At ten years old we got a color TV set and what a difference.
I brought two rabbits and their houses. The rabbits are the same
except one is black and one is white. Boring! (Perform the routine
with the rabbits, but stop short of showing the red and green rabbit
at the end.) People, like these rabbits are the same. We are all
human, but when you get to know people, there are many
differences between them. What are some differences between
people? (Get them answering, some short, some short, difference
26
color hair, freckles, different interest, different ideas, all the
differences.) But when you get down to it we are human, made in
the image of God, but we are all different. These differences make us
interesting. Look at what happens to the rabbits when we add more
variety to them. (Produce the red and green ones.)
God gave us a variety to make us interesting, but He also said we
must love one another like He loved us. Different yes, but the same.
Bad can be Good.
Verse: Romans 8:28 “And we know that all
things work together for good to them that love
God, to them who are the called according to his
purpose.”
Supplies Needed: Dove Pan, birthday cake for
dove pan, mixing bowl and maybe a mixer to mix up the ingredients
and make up a recipe card to read
off.
LESSON
Let’s make a cake together. (Get a
volunteer) I have all the supplies
here. (Read off the ingredients and
have them put them into the bowl.
27
Add ingredients one by one. Allow the helper to taste each
ingredient, BUT NOT THE RAW EGGS. Let them dip the tip of their
finger into an ingredient and tell you if it tastes good or not. Have
them mix it all together.)
You agree not everything in their taste good. The sugar, the butter
and milk tastes good but the flour, baking powder and vanilla
extract didn’t taste to good. (Pour some of the mixer into the dove
pan and produce the cake.) The individual ingredients, some tasted
good, some bad all combined to make a great tasting cake. We all
like cake don’t we.
(NOTE: I stopped giving the children any kind of food or candy as
you never know who is allergic or on a restrictive diet years ago.)
These ingredients are a lot like life. Life has some good stuff and bad
stuff we will all go through, but when you add it all together, it is
you. Regardless how you feel, everything that has happened to you
is used by God. Read Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things
work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the
called according to his purpose.” Relatives, friends and people see
how you react and go through all phases of your lives. Your attitude,
your belief in God is on display. When all is done, and you look back
you will see where God has used you to witness to His existence and
love for everyone. But you have as a Christian the good fortune to
look forward to know that when life is over and you are in heaven
with Jesus, there will be no tears, no pain and only pure joy forever
and ever.
28
Good Grief
Verse: Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from
their eyes, and there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall
there be any more pain; for the former
things are passed away.”
Luke 6:21b “Blessed are those who are crying. They will laugh.” Supplies Needed: Happy/Sad Clown silk and change bag device. Goal: We are sometimes sad in life, but one day will laugh. Set Up: Load happy clown and sad clown in change bag, one clown on each side of the bag.
LESSON
Life is a collection of events, emotions and things we go through and
sometimes it is tough. Reach in the bag and pull out sad clown and
show bag empty. We go through life’s events and sometimes they
are sad. So sad in fact we cry. Crying is a relief for our emotions.
Have you ever cried about something bad? I have when someone
passed away or if I hear very sad news. God allows this, it is called
grieving. The shortest verse in the Bible is John 17:35: “Jesus wept”.
He knows what it is like to be sad. He knows tears. He knows what
we are going through when we go through this time. (Put sad clown
into bag and switch bag to happy clown.)
29
He knows life will go on and won’t let us that way. Luke 6:21b says “Blessed are those who are crying. They will laugh.” (Produce happy clown.) Happiness will come back some day to those who cry. There will be happier times in your life again, but even if we never get there He has a plan for us. At the end of our time on earth He made a promise to us all. As we enter heaven He said, (Revelation 21:4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.” God will be there for us and said never again will we cry, never again will we see death of relatives or friends and never again will we be in pain. We will be with God and praise Him joy and happiness forever.
Find the Treasure
Proverbs 14:12 “ There is a way that appears to be right, but in the
end it leads to death.”
Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the
gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter
through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to
life, and only a few find it.
Supplies Needed: Magicians silk pirate
map. They are available, but you can
make a simple one with a silk and a
marker with X for the treasure, thumb
tip and thumb tip Jesus silk. Bible.
Set Up: Load Jesus silk into thumb tip.
30
Goal: Jesus is the ultimate treasure.
LESSON
Did you ever go on a trip with your parents in a car? To get from
here to there, you need a map. We use to have paper maps that
unfolded but now people have programs in their cars or in their
phones that tells them the best way to go. Some even tell you where
there are problems such as construction or accidents and how to
avoid them.
I remember watching old pirate movies where they have maps like
this (Show silk map.) showing them where to go. The map would
show how to avoid traps and quicksand. Seems like there was only
one way to go and if you didn’t follow it, you wouldn’t make it.
We have a real map in life and our map is the Bible. The instructions
are, (Proverbs 14:12) “ There is a way that appears to be right, but in
the end it leads to death.” What road is that? It is one that we have to
(Matthew 7:13-14) enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the
gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter
through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to
life, and only a few find it.
If we read our Bible and follow the instructions we will find the
treasure this map, this Bible leads us to. That treasure (Put thumb
tip into map and pull our Jesus silk.) is Jesus.
(Go on from there and give a salvation message.)

Sin Is Sin
Verse: Romans 5:6 You see, at just the right time, when we
were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right
time and died for us sinners.
Isaiah 1:1818 “Come now, let us settle the matter, “says the
LORD.“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white
as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like
wool.
Material Needed: Multum in Parvo Set up
with little signs that say small,
small/medium, medium, med/large, large
in front of each glass from small to large.
Goal: Sin, all sin separates
LESSON
Jesus doesn’t care who you are, he died for you. We read in
Romans 5:6 “You see, at just the right time, when we were still
powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. When we were utterly
helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us
sinners. Who are the ungodly? We all start out that way in life.
Until we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are ungodly. That didn’t
matter to Jesus, He died for you anyway. We are ungodly
because of sin. Sin keeps us from God and going to heaven.
32
Let’s name some sins. (Go through what they say and make
sure you have some suggestions for them. Have them
categorize sins by how big they are.) We named a bunch of sins
and we will start with the littlest one. This small glass is a little
sin. (Pour milk into it and you will work down the line to the
biggest glass going sin by sin.) We have worked our way to the
biggest sin we named. Murder, look at that, it filled the glass up
the same as the littlest one. Did you know that sin, any sin will
keep us from God and heaven? In God’s eyes any sin is the
same. So what do we do? How do we get rid of the sin?
God gave us an answer. He died for us. All we have to do is
recognized that, accept Him as our Savior and asked
forgiveness and do you know what happens. Isaiah
1:1818 “Come now, let us settle the matter, “says the
LORD.“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white
as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like
wool. No matter the sin, no matter how big they or small they
are the red blood of Jesus cleans sin from our lives.
33
Halloween Walk Around
This is just a simple
walkaound trick. The prep is
to tape or glue with rubber
cement a tootsie roll
wrapper around the dye
tube and follow the poem.
Supplies Needed: 6” Jesus
silk, Make a 6” ghost silk
with a marker, dye tube and tootsie roll wrapper.
ROUTINE
Show ghost silk This is the time of year,
Of ghosts, goblins and fear.
Load ghost silk into Some people think it is dandy,
Hidden dye tube and
Show hands empty.
Produce tootsie roll dye To scare you and give candy
Tube.
French drop dye tube But start now this very year,
Produce Jesus silk. Trusting Jesus who conquers all
fear.
34
It all Stays Here
Verse: Hebrews 13:5 “ Keep your lives free from the love of
money and be content with what you have, because God has
said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Supplies Needed: Wonder Bubbles
Goal: Be satisfied with what you have.
LESSON
Bubbles are interesting. (blow some bubbles) You see them,
they look solid but (pop a bubble) but they are not. Do you
have a favorite toy? You may think it is a permanent or solid
item but with time and age, not matter what it is made of, it will
break, melt or rot away and disappear like this bubble.
These bubbles are not permanent. (produce the solid bubble)
We can only keep things for so long. God never said not to have
things but don’t let the things control our lives. This bubble
may seem permanent but it is not. (French drop it into your
hand and ditch it somewhere) Corrie Ten Boom a wonderful
strong lady said, don’t hold things tightly so the Lord doesn’t
have to pry it from your hands. You may be asked to give up
your favorite toy or hobby by God. The more you follow God’s
35
word, the more we can follow Hebrews 13:5 “ Keep your lives
free from the love of money and be content with what you
have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I
forsake you.” In the end everything is temporary like these
bubbles and it all belongs to God. When we stand before God at
the end of our lives, we will be there will empty hands and be
content because all we need is God. It won’t be what you have
that counts, it will be who you are that counts.
Fresh Start, New Years Day
Verse: Psalm 51:10 10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and
renew a steadfast spirit within
me.
Supplies Needed: Make a crayon
box as show and a silk. You will
show the box empty and under a
silk just tip it over to show filled.
Goal: New year, new attitude
LESSON
At the end of the year, many people feel like a box of crayons.
Old and used up. They have colored their last picture. We
36
should look at everyday as a new beginning, but a lot feel a new
year, start fresh and make it better. As the New Year begins we
should reflex on what we can do to be better next year. (Cover
crayons and flip them over to show new fresh crayons.)
Go into your prayer time and when you are done. (Uncover
new crayons.) Start to think about how you can use the tools
and talents God have given you. As you go through the year,
pray, read your Bible and let the Holy Spirit give you a new
crayon every day and not get worn out throughout the year.
God has given you a new year, what you do with it is up to you.
Love All
Verse: John 3:16 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his
one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish
but have eternal life.
John 13:34-35 34 “A new command I
give you: Love one another. As I have
loved you, so you must love one
another. 35 By this everyone will know
that you are my disciples, if you love
one another.”
Supply Needed: make your version of
“Walking through a business card.
Practice until you find the rights size
37
and paper to use. You will make the cuts in the presentation;
don’t put the lines on the heart. Make the cuts narrow enough
so the heart can be open to a large opening.
Goal: God loves the whole world.
LESSON
(Pull out the red paper.) Red is the color of blood, it is a the
color most people use to make hearts at valentine’s day. It’s the
color of love.
(begin cutting out the heart as you talk) Love. Who loves us?
Who do you love? I know someone special who loves you, it’s
God. The apostle John said, (John 3:16) For God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes
in him shall not perish but have eternal life. How big is God’s
love? Certainly it is bigger than this heart. He loves the whole
world.
Now if God loves us, how do you thing we should treat each
other? (Make the vertical cut into the heart and call a couple of
children up join you.) Farther along in John in the Bible we are
told to obey Jesus when He said, “A new command I give you:
Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one
another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my
disciples, if you love one another.” (Open the heart and stand in
38
the opening and make it big enough to include the children
with you.) God loves us, we need to love one another and treat
each other in a way that God approves.
Once it is loose, it’s gone.
Verse: Psalm 39:1“I will guard my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue; Matthew 12:36; "I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak."
Supplies Needed: Thumb
tip streamer. Get two
empty pill bottles. Make
sure the streamer is to
big for the bottle. Cut the
bottom out of one. Load
the streamer into the
bottomless tube and
hide the rest of the
streamer in your hand.
Pull the streamer out of
the tube and switch tubes without anyone seeing the switch.
Have someone try to put the streamer in the tube with the
bottom on it. Make sure your streamer is to big for the bottle.
39
LESSON
Have you ever said something you wished you never said?
When I was a child, my mother would say when someone
would call me a name, “Sticks and stones may break my bones
but names will never hurt me.” Physically that was true, but it
still made me feel bad. Growing up poor, we were called all
kinds of bad names. The other children thought it was funny
but it isn’t. What have you said that you wished you could take
back? Got news for you, once you say it, you can’t.
(Pick up the bottle with no bottom loaded with the hidden silk
and begin to produce it.) You say the words, the insults, the lies
and it goes out there like this color streamer does. Whatever
you said you cannot take back.
(Switch the bottle and call someone up to help and try to get
the streamer back into the bottle and put the cap on.)
I see you cannot get the streamer back into the bottle. God tells us (Psalm 39:1) we should say. “I will guard my ways that I may not sin with my tongue”. Telling lies is a sin. Stop; think about what you are going to say because you cannot get it back into your mouth. And think about this in the book of Matthew it reads, Matthew 12:36; "I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak." So be careful of what you say.
