PROGRAMME OF ASSESSMENT FOR GRADE 11 CAPS provides every subject with a detailed Programme of Assessment. The table below indicates the formal assessment task for the year for Grade 11 English First Additional Language.

Oral Assessment Tasks: Paper 4 Listening Speaking Reading The oral tasks undertaken during the course of the year constitute the end-‐of-‐year external assessment.

Term 3: 1 Written test + 2 tasks
Term 4: Examination (3 papers + Oral: Paper 4) + 1 Task
Term marks: (Terms 1-‐3 ): Each term, add raw marks and totals and convert to % for term mark Promotion Mark:
• Add raw marks and total for assessment tasks from term 1 to term 4 and convert to 25%.
• Convert Oral mark (Paper 4) to 12,5% • Convert Paper 1 to 20% • Convert Paper 2 to 17,5% • Convert Paper 3 to 25%

GRADE 11 The examples in this module have been chosen to show you how to approach teaching some of the skills according to the CAPS document. Please note that this is not a comprehensive textbook unit. It looks at four aspects over a two-‐week cycle:

Teachers are able to see the learners’ understanding of the content matter straight away. These activities are very practical and assess the content in the CAPS. The books are in full colour with eye-‐catching photographs. Remedial activities to support those learners that may need extra support The Platinum and Focus English First Additional Language Books have many activities in the chapters as well as revision sections at the end of every topic. The Platinum English First Additional Language Book also has remedial worksheets, which can be found in the Teacher’s Guide.
