The activity of cross – NUMBERS provides a continuum for young learners to enhance their algorithm skills especially operations involving addition and subtraction within the range 1000. The activity, which is adapted from language crosswords, presents 10 multiple challenging problem solving questions of the topics concerned. The learners need to fill in all the boxes respectively using the equations constructed from the questions given.

Synopsis

1. First, teacher explain to the pupils the activity that is to be carried out which is ‘cross-NUMBERS’ activity.

2. Next, teacher distributes the task sheet to each pupil. Then, teacher shows an example to them so that they aware of what is expected from them.

3. After that, teacher shows the slides of the activity to the pupils. Pupils may start answering the questions (Alternatively, this activity can also been done in groups. Besides, for a really weak class, teacher may carry out this activity together with all pupils).

4. When everybody has finished, teacher may discussed the answers with the class. Besides, teacher may also refer to the slide “Teacher’s Guide” to get the answer.
