Let’s Review
1. Begin with the Big Picture
• NRT Summary Dashboard bar graph
• Target areas of low or discrepant performance
2. Drill down into the targeted areas
• Class Dashboard = performance on TN3 objectives
• Rank order by students’ NPs or NCEs
• Consider instructional grouping
• Identify areas where curriculum/instruction review is needed
3. Take the necessary “Next Steps” to improve curriculum and instruction in targeted areas
®Developed under Contract with ACSI by CTB/McGraw-Hill LLC (CTB)
Developed under Contract with ACSI by CTB/McGraw-Hill LLC (CTB)
Next Steps…1. Examine the curriculum and instructional program in
the targeted area:
Focus on identified Challenge objectives
What are the major topics & skills addressed in the current curriculum?
Is differentiated instruction (grouping) used in instruction?
Note key instructional strategies & practice for each targeted Objective area.
Look at the curriculum calendar – when are skills taught & for how long?
Examine instructional resources & materials
2. Review Teacher’s Guide, TerraNova 3rd Edition
Understand the subskills assessed for targeted objectives

Look at the Next Grade Level
• Last Spring’s 4th graders = this year’s 5th graders
• Use small group instruction
On/above grade level students keep them moving
Below grade level students accelerate their progress
• Review the analysis of previous year’s curriculum & instruction
What foundation do students have for this year?
What weak areas need to be addressed?
• Review Teacher’s Guide, TerraNova 3
What bridges are needed from one grade to the next grade?
