The SolutionAimed at Key Stages 1 and 2, itwas vital to make this resourceattractive to younger children sothe Coachwise Creative teamanimated two characters (Archie and Aimee) to help bringthe sport to life. Having startedout as a simple booklet ofapproximately 30 pages, weadvised on an alternative formatto make the resource even moreuser-friendly. The coreinformation was produced in anA4 booklet, with the skills anddrills that would be used by theteacher printed on a laminatedcard and inserted into a pocketmounted on the back page.

The ResultsThe Guide for Teachers waslaunched in autumn 2012 as part of a delivery pack of bows, targets, arrows and arm bracers. Such was the initial take-up fromprimary schools, following a high-profile launch involvingMembers of Parliament,Coachwise were quickly askedto produce a second print run.

Archery GB have been sopleased with the launch that twosupporting resources – A Guide for Young Leaders andA Guide for Tutors – have alsobeen commissioned fromCoachwise to further spread theword that archery can beenjoyed by children of all ages.The Arrows Guide for Teachersreally hit the mark!
