  • Dear Teachers,

Thank you so much for being part of the PigMania musical experience. We are so excited to bring this high-energy, fun-filled theatrical presentation to your students.

Please have a quick glance through this Teachers Resource Guide. Our goal is to give you some quick, easy suggestions to extend the experience of the show into the classroom. Whether you decide to do a major lesson plan or you just photocopy some colouring sheets, we hope that you will find this guide helpful.

This year many classes did not get to come see the show because the performances they wanted were sold out. If you would like to be among the first to find out about next years musical, please send us a note at: [email protected] and ask to be notified.

We would also like to make you aware of a program in which your students can re-ceive their own autographed copy of the PigMania CD/CD Rom. The CDs are made available at a discounted price and the school receives a portion of the proceeds. If you are interested please contact Sylvia Callaghan at 905-763-0852 ext.111 or send us an email at the address below.

Thank you again for coming to the show and for helping us to bring more music and theatre into the lives of your students. We would love to have any feedback you can of-fer about the program, this guide, or any other aspect of PigMania. Give your feedback and find out more about other great school programming at: educationarts.ca

    Thank you!

    IMPORTANT

  • Section 1:Colouring Pages & Activity Sheets

The following pages contain colouring pages for PigMania. As with all the material in this guide, you may freely copy and distribute the pages if you are part of a school that has come to see our production of PigMania. You may also like to print the colouring pages directly from the elec-tronic/pdf version available at:judyanddavid.com/teachers

    Some suggestions...

Colouring sheets can be a great activity to accompany listening to the PigMania CD. Every school that attends the theatrical show should have been supplied with at least one complimentary CD. Additional copies are available online at judyanddavid.com.

The colouring sheets can also be extended into other activities:

SONG BOOK: Combine with printout of lyrics to make your own PigMania song book

STORY BOOK: Use the pictures to write and illustrate your own version of the story.

PUPPET SHOW: Cut out the characters and mount them on cardboard or card stock, backed with popsicle sticks, tongue depressors, etc. to make cardboard puppets. Act out the story of the Three Little Pigs.

COLLAGE: Combine elements of the colouring sheet with other pictures from magazines, etc. to make a thematic collage and a basis for discussion. Themes could include:

Take your time and do it right! Brainella took her time and worked hard to build a strong brick house while the others did not. What are the conse-quences of rushing? What are the benefits of taking your time and doing it right?

Eating Like A Pig: Frankie and Woody like to eat lots of junk foods. Would this be a good idea for people? Make a collage of Eating Like a Pig and a collage of Eating Like a Person.
