Planning and Preparing for Disruption§ Start by reviewing University guidance on how
to Prepare to Work or Teach Remotely§ Consider adding a note in your syllabus about
the potential for disruption and your planned response
§ Prepare yourself for working at home – Internet, web cam, microphone, printer
§ Make connections to University communication about the disruption:

about changes or updates to your class§ Review your syllabus and assess priorities § Recognize the need to be flexible during this time§ Communicate your expectations for your students § If you have a TA, keep them in the loop§ Know how to check voicemail from home § Have a contact list for your school / department§ Make sure you have contact information for your
support
Planning and Preparing for Disruption§ If possible, consider offering a virtual class
session during the semester to introduce the experience to your students
§ Use your course code in the subject of your communications (automatic with Blackboard announcements)
§ Consider using a discussion forum in your class for communication and subscribe to it
§ Practice with the tools before you need to employ them
§ Be enthusiastic!
