on Micro teaching – teaching skills

What is Microteaching ?

Allen and Eve defined “ Microteaching as a system of controlled practice that makes it possible to concentrate on specific teaching skills and to practice teaching under controlled conditions”.

What are Teaching Skills ??

• SKILL OF WRITING OBJECTIVES : Involves identifying and analysing the task and write objectives in behavioural

terms.

• SKILL OF INTRODUCING A LESSON : Teacher asks questions related to previous knowledge and draw the

attention of the student to lesson and motivate them to emotionally ready for the lesson

• SKILL OF EXPLAINING : Teacher use her knowledge and related statements to produce a meaningful whole in development of new concept

• SKILL OF ILLUSTRATING WITH : Teacher uses simple and real life EXAMPLES examples to make subject clear .

• SKILL OF BLACKBOARD WRITING: Teacher use BB systematically to point out points and for illustrations and diagrams .

• SKILL OF USING AUDIO-VISUAL AIDS : Teacher select relevant equipments an present them in proper manner .

•SKILL OF REINFORCEMENT : Teacher recognize and accept student

responses and encourage the student active participation.

• SKILL OF PROBING QUESTIONS : Teacher asks questions to students and delve more into the subject

• SKILL OF STIMULUS VARIATION : The teacher changes the speed of lesson , questions, teaching process and teaching mode.

• SKILL OF SOLVING PROBLEMS : The teacher present problems interestingly and solve it systematically and logically.

•LABORATORY SKILL : The teacher is competent to set up apparatus

adjust , manipulate , observe,measure record and set right faults.

•SKILL OF OBSERVATION : The teacher is able to observe and take

accurate reading from apparatus and measures accurately

• SKILL OF SILENCE AND NON : The teacher’s silence , VERBAL CLUES movement and gestuers are

clues she uses to ensure the student participation

• SKILL OF PLANNED REPETITION : The teacher repeats the same content in order to reinforce and helps to remembering it. .

• SKILL OF CLASS MANAGEMENT : The teacher maintain discipline and decorum of the class and is able to ensure an atmosphere of active participation.

• SKILL OF COMPLETENESS AND COMMUNICATION : The teacher communicates effectively

and completes the task and closes it systematically

• SKILL OF DIAGNOZING AND TAKING REMEDIAL MEASURES : Teacher identifies difficulties in

students and initiates remedial measures for them.

• ACHIEVING CLOSURE OF LESSONS : Summarization , establishes a link b/w the present learning and future and creates a sense of achievement in the pupils.

•SKILL OF GIVING HOME ASSIGNMENTS : The teacher give homeworks for

strengthening the knowledge gained
