Teams to vie for the win at the Speak Mandarin Campaign
Parent-Child Talent Competition 2017
Finalists for the fifth Speak Mandarin Campaign Parent-Child Talent Competition will compete
to emerge as winners at the much anticipated Grand Finals, which will be held on Saturday, 3
June 2017 at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre.
A total of 12 teams from the Pre-school Category (A), 8 teams from the Primary 1-2 Category
(B) and 6 teams from Primary 3-6 Category (C) have been shortlisted for the final leg in this
competition.
Co-organised by the Promote Mandarin Council, CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School (Primary),
Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) and PCF Sparkletots, the
journey through the Competition provides opportunities for all participating families to bond
and have fun, while learning and using Mandarin at the same time.
This year, the Competition is pleased to welcome new partners, who identify with the
Campaign’s objective of encouraging parents to create conducive home environments for
language learning. In addition to trophies and cash prizes therefore, participants can also look
forward to winning exciting prizes from the Singapore Flyer, Wildlife Reserves Singapore and
Times the Bookshop.
The Preliminary Round took place on 8 April 2017, where families formed teams of up to three
members and each team put up a five-minute performance in Mandarin based on this year’s
theme “Childhood Memories”.
On Saturday, 3 June 2017, the Finals for the Pre-school Category (A) will be held in the
morning, and finalists for the Primary School Categories (B & C) will compete in the afternoon.
Members of the public who may be keen to cheer the teams on, may write in to
