THEATRE OF THE OPPRESSED:

O Teatro do Oprimido é uma metodologia desenvolvida pelo

teatrólogo Augusto Boal que por meios exercícios, jogos e técnicas teatrais,

trazem a tona às situações de opressão que a

comunidade que os pratica sofre.

The Theatre of the Oppressed is a methodology developed by playwright Augusto Boal which through exercises, theater games and techniques, brings to light situations of oppression that the community is suffers.?

O TO ( Teatro do Oprimido) por ter surgido

no Brasil na década de 60 e 70 , época de

grande repressão devido a Ditadura Militar

pela qual passava o Brasil, é um teatro de

cunho político, libertário e transformador,

levando sempre a uma reflexão e ação por

meio da mobilização social e da reflexão

conjunta à respeito das políticas públicas e

dos direitos dos oprimidos, é sempre esse seu

fundo, seu objetivo de levar a uma reflexão

mais ampla.

A principal técnica do TO é o teatro fórum, um espetáculo baseado sempre na história real de um dos participantes

das oficinas, tendo como personagens o opressor e o

oprimido que no palco entram em conflito de forma direta e concisa, na defesa de seus

interesses.

The principle technique of the TO is the forum theatre, which is always based on the lived reality of the participants in the workshops and includes the person of the oppressor and the oppressed who in the play enter into clear and face to face conflict, in defense of their own interests.

Nesta situação, o oprimido fracassa em seus argumentos ou ações e o público é convidado a entrar na cena no lugar da pessoa oprimida e por meio da encenação, mostrar a sua alternativa para aquele problema. não se apresenta soluções, e sim alternativas, que irão ajudar a pessoa que é verdadeiramente oprimida a refletir e quem - sabe a adotar uma daquelas alternativas e sair de sua situação de opressão.

In this situation, the oppressed is failing in his/her position or action and the public is invited to enter into the scene, taking the place of the first actor and within the context of the play, offer an alternative to the problem presented, not a solution, but an alternative that will help the oppressed person to reflect and, who knows, adopt those alternatives and get out of the oppressive situation

Let’s be democratic and ask our audiences to tell us their

wishes, show us their alternatives. Let us hope that one day –

in the not too distant future, please – we become capable of

convincing, or forcing our governments, our leaders, to do the

same: ask their audiences – us, the people! – what they should

do to change our world into a place where we can live and be

happy - instead of merely a huge marketplace where we sell

goods and our very souls. Yes, this is possible!
