Why Online Programming Students are enrolling in PA Cyber Charter At added expense to school district Tax dollars would stay in the district District does not have to pay for PA Cyber Charter District can get reimbursed for running a Charter School 4. Why Online Programming Offers alternatives for the following students At risk of not graduating- Can take cyber school forcredit recovery Homebound/ Attendance Issues- Students that miss alot of school time can participate in onlineprogramming to receive credit recovery. Alternative to Alternative Education- Our district oftensend chronic discipline problem students to alternativeeducation schools at an added expense to the district.Online programs may keep these students in the districtand keep them on track to graduate. 5. First Steps Technology Survey : of Staff and District Students Form Committee: teachers, administrators, IT staff, parents, students, board members, local business. (Develop guidelines and procedures) 6. Committee: Begin to develop Procedures, Guidelines, Evaluationtools for online courses Recruit and Train Staff Identify Professional Development needs 7. Course Evaluation Criteria All Online Courses will be evaluated using District Online Course Evaluation Form Developed by the Online Education Committee Based upon INACOL National Standards for Online Courses 9. Technology/ Program Review District need to evaluate technology available District Technology use survey Student Screening Assess students to determine if online education is right for them 10. Course Offerings & Expectation Expectations are written and clearly defined Course Syllabus is easy to find and access Course assignments and content are clearly listed Course resources are provided Rubrics are provided for all assignments Instructor contact provided 11. Course Content Learning Objectives Clearly Listed All course resources are linked to learning objectives Course Learning Objectives and Design meet the needsof diverse learning styles 12. Measuring Student Learning Formal and Informal Assessments used to measurestudent learning Monitoring and Intervention For students that are struggling Built in Safe Guards 13.
