Important: The current SPO Catalog may show the incorrect change of production date. The correct transaxle assembly build break point for these changes is December 13, 2005 (Julian Date 347).
On December 13, 2005 (Julian Date 347), the 2006 4T45-E automatic transaxles were built with new/second design controls systems hardware.
The new Channel Plate Assembly, Valve Body Assembly and Spacer Plate Assembly include revised fluid routing.
2006 Interim Model Year Change for 4T45-E Automatic Transaxle (RPO MN5)
4T45-E
Notice: The first and second design Channel Plate Assembly, Valve Body Assembly and Spacer Plate Assembly are NOT interchangeable. Mismatching of first and second design Channel Plate Assem-bly, Valve Body Assembly and Spacer Plate Assembly will result in damage to the transaxle.
The transmission will not function properly if the wrong combination of Channel Plates, Valve Body Assemblies, and Spacer Plate Assemblies are installed.

4-5 Erratic Shift, DTC P0756 Set (Reprogram Transmission Control Module (TCM) and Perform Drive Procedure)

A 4-5 upshift slip/flare that results in a harsh shift or clunk at the end of the shift. An illuminated MIL where a DTC P0756 is found as a history code in the TCM.
A revised transmission calibration has been developed to address both of these issues. Reprogram the TCM with an updated software calibration. This new service calibration was released with TIS satellite data update version 3.5 or later, available March 20, 2006 (March 22 in Canada). As always, make sure your Tech 2® is updated with the latest software version.
After reprogramming the TCM, a drive procedure must be performed as detailed below. Check and clear all DTCs that may have set as a result of the programming process.
Drive maneuvers should be performed at transmission oil temperatures of at least 40°C (104°F).Transmission oil levels should be set properly before starting drive cycles. Initial upshifts may have an erratic feel for the first several cycles. They should improve significantly with repeated maneu-vers. At the start of the drive cycles, no ECM or TCM DTCs should be set. The MIL should not be illuminated.

A drive cycle requires five light throttle accelerations to 40 km/h (25 mph) and five light throttle ac-celerations to 64 km/h (40 mph).1.From a complete stop, lightly accelerate at a relatively constant throttle pedal position up to 40 km/h (25 mph) or 64 km/h (40 mph).
2.Brake the vehicle to a complete stop.
3.Repeat five times to 40 km/h (25 mph) and five times to 64 km/h (40 mph). Maneuvers can be performed in any combination.
If the garage shifts (Park to Reverse, Park to Drive, Reverse to Drive, Drive to Reverse) feel like they are delayed, garage shifts adapts can also be performed. All garage shifts should be performed with the vehicle stopped, foot on the brake and engine at idle.1.Shift the transmission from Reverse to Drive leaving the shift lever in Drive for three seconds. Af-ter three seconds, shift back to Reverse, leaving the shift lever in Reverse for three seconds. Perform the procedure 10 times (R-D-R-D-R-D…). The transitions need to be directly to Drive and Reverse, without stopping in Neutral.
2.Shift the transmission from Neutral to Drive leaving the shift lever in Drive for three seconds. Af-ter three seconds, shift back to Neutral, leaving the shift lever in Neutral for three seconds. Perform the procedure 10 times (N-D-N-D-N-D…).
3.Shift the transmission from Neutral to Reverse leaving the shift lever in Reverse for three seconds. After three seconds, shift back to Neutral, leaving the shift lever in Neutral for three seconds. Per-form the procedure 10 times (R-N-R-N-R-N…).
At the end of these maneuvers, the vehicle may still experience some minor driveability issues, but should learn improved shifting performance over the next several key cycles and driving time. Coach the customer about the transmission’s ability to self-correct shifting issues or concerns. The transmission adapts are always functional and operate at transmission oil temperatures above 40°C (104°F).

Borg Warner 4405 Transfer CaseGrinding or Ratcheting Type Noise on DecelerationFord, MercuryFebruary, 2007
A grinding or ratcheting type noise in Reverse and/or on deceleration that may seem to disappear during tip-in or acceleration. This noise may be intermittent and difficult to diagnose. If it has been determined that the grinding noise is coming from the transfer case, removal, disassembly and inspection of the transfer case is recommended. This condition may be caused by worn out transfer case shift rail bosses in both of the transfer case halves. This usually causes the High-Low shift collar to move out of position and allows the shift collar inner gears to come in contact with the input shaft gears. This will usually damage both the shift collar and input shaft in a very short time. Replacement or repair of the transfer case halves, the worn shift rail, the High-low shift collar and the input shaft should correct this concern.

A hesitation, sag or lack of engine response while accelerating. This typically occurs after backing off the throttle then shortly stepping back in to a heavy or wide open throttle position. This condi-tion may occur at any speed, but is most likely to occur after accelerating to 48 to 80 km/h (30 to 50 mph), backing off the throttle then stepping back in. A 1.5 to 2.5 second delay may occur before the vehicle resumes acceleration.
Frequent transmission shift cycling occurring on slight to moderate grades when in cruise control at vehicle speeds from 64 to 121 km/h (40 to 75 mph). The customer comment may include “too much vehicle speed variation from the desired cruise control seed setting” when the shift cycling is evi-dent.
On the initial cold startup when ambient temperatures are below -22°C (-8°F) and an engine block heater is not used, the engine starts and may immediately stall. The engine will typically restart im-mediately and operate normally.

722.6 JAGUAR PARTS DESCRIPTION NUMBER
Fluid, Mercedes fluid packaged in a Jaguar box, (meets spec 236.10), gray one liter bottle with Mercedes part number A001 989 2103 on the bottle. This Mercedes part number is an outdated number replaced by Mercedes part number A 001 989 07 03, (meets spec 236.10) and the fluid is red in color. It is not necessary to buy fluid from a Jaguar dealer for a Jaguar car. The Jaguar part number is listed for reference and convenience. Jaguars with the 722.6 require a fluid with 236.10 as the minimum specification. Fluids with the 236.12 specification exceed the 236.10 spec. The following list is the only known qualified sources of transmission fluid meeting the 236.10 specification or 236.12 specifications. Ask to see proof in writing of meeting 236.10specification or 236.12 specification for any fluid not on the following list:

P0715 / Honda DTC 15 is a mainshaft speed sensor signal fault DTC. Along with a faulty mainshaft speed sensor or speed sensor electrical circuit fault, P0715 / DTC 15 can be caused by a transaxle mechanical or performance fault. If the transaxle is slipping or not in the commanded gear, the ECU will see the mainshaft speed sensor signal out of range for the commanded gear and set P0715 / DTC 15.

5R55N/S/WSkips 2nd or 5th gear when cold
January, 2007Ford, Lincoln
The transmission will work fine when the car warms up, but will not work correctly when the unit cools down. There Are two types of O/D piston availible a Single Stage and a Two Stage. Installing a two stage piston into a single stage piston cover will cause this problem. The piston may go into the cover and it will be very difficult to remove on the bench.
Refer to the pictures for the correct matches.
