Scholarship GPA Evaluation
Scholarship GPA requirement:
Effective Fall term 2017, when calculating the HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarship postsecondary GPA, an additional weight of 0.5 will be added to grades of B, C and D for approved Degree level science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) courses taken at an Eligible Postsecondary Institution, Fall term 2017 or later. The approved STEM courses will be listed in the STEM Weighted Course Directory.
a. The Eligible Postsecondary Institution shall be responsible for including the additional weight in the HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarship GPA calculation.
b. The Eligible Postsecondary Institution to which a student transfers must refer to the STEM Weighted Course Directory to identify the approved STEM courses to be given the additional weight and included in the HOPE and Zell Miller GPA calculation for continued eligibility.
Beginning end of Fall Semester 2018 (Banner 201912) initial evaluations will be performed in the GSFC provided GPA system CHECS (College HOPE Eligibility Calculation System).
Beginning with end of Fall Semester 2017 (Banner term 201812) and continuing through the end of Summer Semester 2018 (Banner term 201816) all colleges may use the Banner form ZRAEVAL for initial scholarship evaluations. Form ZRAEVAL is provided to assist colleges with identifying STEM courses and calculating the cumulative scholarship GPA.
Three new Banner ‘Z’ forms have been provided:
• ZTVSTEM – STEM Course Validation Form • ZTVOPEI – OPE ID Validation Form• ZRAEVAL – Scholarship Evaluation Form
ZTVSTEM – STEM Course Validation Form: Searchable (not updateable) listing of all approved STEM courses provided by GSFC (Georgia Student Finance Commission).

ZTVOPEI – OPEID Validation Form: Searchable (not updateable) listing of USDOE 2017-2018 Federal School Codes. These unique codes are assigned by the U.S. Department of Education for schools participating in the Title IV federal student aid programs
NOTE: Two unique codes for non-Title IV schools are included in the listing
• INTPSI – International (Foreign) PSI – No OPEID• USAPSI – USA (Domestic) PSI – No OPEID
These two codes should be used instead of the actual college name for colleges not listed on ZTVOPEI.

ZRAEVAL – Scholarship Evaluation Form: User will input coursework to be included in the initial scholarship evaluation.
• Colleges are defined by name/OPEID. ZTVOPEI is the validation form for the college lookup feature.• Course details and grades must be entered manually.
• Only courses included in the Scholarship GPA calculation should be entered.• Coursework should be entered as quarter hours if taken under a quarter system. The form will convert
quarter hours to semester hours automatically after coursework entry is saved and the ‘REFRESH’ button is clicked.
• User must save data after entry.• User then clicks ‘REFRESH’ button to calculate cumulative scholarship GPA.• ZTVSTEM is the validation form to determine if a course is STEM and meets the requirements for the
additional .5 weight. The cumulative GPA (including additional .5 weight for STEM courses) will be calculated and displayed.
• After all coursework is entered, the user may choose to extract data from Banner and utilize Excel to determine checkpoints and eligibility.
• IMPORTANT: ROAUSDF must be updated with final results.

Cumulative GPA information is automatically populated by clicking ‘REFRESH’.
‘STEM’ is automatically updated after user enters college, course, and grade information.
User entry required. Click ‘Save’ after entry completed.
NOTE: Only enter coursework that is included in the Scholarship GPA calculation.
Example: Do not enter Learning Support coursework taken after Fall 2011 (Banner term 201212).

Exporting ZRAEVAL to Excel:
Note: It is not required that you export the Banner data on ZRAEVAL to Excel. User may print the screen(s) directly from Banner form.
Exporting instructions:
From the Banner main menu enter GUAOBJS – Object Maintenance.
Enter F7 for query.
Enter ZRAEVAL into ‘Object’ field.
Enter F8 to execute query.
Make any necessary updates to ensure your system reflects the below in each field.
Save any changes.

From the main menu enter GUAUPRF – General User Preferences Maintenance Form
Ensure the local directory for saving output is set correctly to c:\temp\
Ensure the data extract format is set to WEBUTIL
Save any changes.
On your computer, ensure you have a ‘Temp’ directory on c: drive.

Select ‘Help’ and ‘Extract Data No Key’

Open Excel and search for the file. You will need to search “All files”.
Select the ZRAEVAL saved file and click ‘Open’. The data will look similar to below.

Update to ‘All Files’

Highlight column ‘A’ and select ‘Text to Columns’
Select ‘Delimited’ and ‘Next’

Deselect ‘Tab’ and select ‘Comma’, then click ‘Next’
For each column with numeric values highlight and click ‘Text’. This will allow the numeric values to keep any leading zeroes.
