OverviewA secret among bath design professionals is to use L- and U-shaped wedi Building Panels to create more tileable surfaces in the bathroom. To accommodate this popular trend, wedi prefabricates many products and provides solutions for on-site customization of shapes and styles. Not only can you waterproof your tile substrates, but you can eliminate wooden framework by installing prefabricated design elements tailored to fit your special needs. wedi Prefabricated Elements include shower seats and benches, niches, curbs and ramps.

Full Foam Triangular Corner Seat
ThewediFullFoamTriangularCornerSeatisafullyprefabricatedcornerseat is 100% waterproof throughout. Unlike other systems, such as those madewithnon-waterproofwhiteexpandedpolystyrene(EPS),wediFullFoamTriangularCornerSeatdoesnotneedtobetreatedwithawaterproofmembrane anymore. In addition, the top surface is slightly sloped at a rate of1/8”/ft.toallowwatertorunofftowardthefloordrain.Theseatcanbecuttovirtuallyanysize.Wherethecutandthebluefoamisexposed,adhere,forexample,an1/8”thickwedipanelpiecetothisareatorecreateaperfect
surface to bond tile to. This corner seat can be used in wedi systems, conventional shower systems or even over older, existingtilesinanexistingshower.Thecoreoftheseatismadeofextrudedpolystyrenefoamandiscoatedwitharigid,sandedepoxy-basedcoatingtoaccommodateforheavydutycommercialuse.

Installation:
1. Apply wedi® joint sealant on the mounting brackets side that will be attached to the wedi® wall.
2. Evenly distribute the joint sealant with a notched trowel until the whole contact area is covered.
3. Use a level to make sure you can achieve a slight pitch (1/8” over 1 ft).
4. Mount the brackets through the wedi® wall panels into the solid 2’ x 4’ wooden framework.

Floating Corner Seat
wedi corner seats not only install quicker and easier than any metal tray or concrete seat, but they are also totally unaffected by water due to their closed cell foam base. The polyurethane-basedmountingbracketsallowforflexibleinstallationandmakesurethatthetiledwediseatcan carry up to 300 lbs. of weight. No adddtional blocking is needed and the product can even beinstalledagainstanexistingtiledcornerifneeded.

7. Apply wedi® meshtape and tape the transition joint between seat element and wedi® wall. Apply a flat thinset mortar bed over the meshtape and fully embed it.
8. The same step happens now on the underside of the seat element where it is connected to the wall using mesh tape and thinset mortar. The short vertical seams are taped with mesh and thinset mortar as well.

Straight Bench
This 100% waterproof bench is a prefabricated sampling of what can often be installed onsite andincustomdimensions,usingour2”building panels, which provide the structural strength needed for seats and benches. Its hollow inside allows for additional installation space for plumbing and electric parts in steam showers and large spa function showers. It is sloped on the top surface area at a rate of 1/8”/ft.tomakesurewatercanrunoffto the floor drain.

ThewediShowerRampisusedtocreatecurbless showers without recessing the shower base into the subfloor. The ramp provides a 1”slopeovera12”widthandmeetsADArequirements. The ramp should not be tiledwithtilessmallerthan4”x4”whenwheelchairs are used in this shower.
