0.4 How it works in the tool
1. Punch block is in upper machine position TDC.
6. The punch stamps the nut through the plate.
2. The nut is transported to the punch. The plate material is pressed by the die border into the nut. (bdc)

The PIAS piercing nut system is a new generation of piercing nuts. The piercing nuts faciliate applications with maximum load demands. Advantages for high load demands especially for applications with thin plates which have special requirements for

The PIAS piercing nut has many deciding advantages.
Due to this advantages it is possible to use a thinner steel plate and get the same mechanical resistance as with thick plates.

2. Punch blocks 2.1 Introduction
Arnold & Shinjo - Punch blocks have a simple, modular and a rugged technical construction which is easy to handle. To grant faultless working the punch blocks have an approximation sensor to control the nut transport to the punch. If there is no nut in the punch the stamping process stops.
Locking system • Arnold & Shinjo - Punch blocks are available with a pneumatic locking
system Picasso I or Picasso II without the locking system. According to customer demands we can deliver the punch block in several variations and also with elongations up to 90 mm.

2.3 Punch blocks with locking sytem
Punch block Picasso I Locking system for punch block Starting position is the closed switch. No nut can be transported to the punch. With the starting signal the switch opens and the feeding cylinder pushes the nut into the punch. When the approximate sensor sends the signal that the nut is in the punch, the switch closes. In cases where no nut is neccessary the switch can be closed. The 2-way pneumatic cylinder at the punch block is steered by a 5/2 - pneumatic valve.. With the closed switch you can produce parts without nuts for example: • during setting-up of the tool • for parts with different layouts (left/right <-> with/without nut) If the punch is locked for production, please remove the die out of the base tool.
