Pressure
 Pressure
The actual permissible Nominal Pressure (PN) is given in the table for everyproduct. It is shown in bar and is based on the pressure for water under static load.
Under standard operating conditions (static) and temperature (20°C), the operating pressure (PB) and the given Nominal Pressure (PN) can be taken as the same (see DIN 2401, Part 1).
For increased temperatures, the operating pressure should be reduced according to the table below, and the the PN selected accordingly.
 Pressure Reduction Table
Temperature Range Pressure Reduction Temperature Range Pressure Reduction-60°C bis 20°C 0,0 % 250°C 24,0 %50°C 4,5 % 300°C 29,0 %100°C 11,0 % 350°C 31,0 %150°C 16,0 % 400°C 33,0 %200°C 20,0 %
It should be noted that DIN 17 440 Tab. 6 recommends a maximum temperature of 400°C for AISI 316Ti.
 Combinations of different fittings
For combinations of different fittings as well as different seal materials within a system, the lowest actual pressure and temperature range for a fitting determines that of the complete system.
 Correct Assembly
In order to achieve the stated pressures in this catalogue it is essential that the assembly is carried out correctly and professionally. Please follow theassembly instructions given. It is especially important to ensure that the fittings are not placed under load or stress.

NBR (Acrylnitril-Butadien-Kautschuk, e.g. Perbunan)-30°C to 100°C

EPDM (Ethylen-Propylen-Dien-Kautschuk)-50°C to 150°C
PTFE (Polytetrafluorethylen)-200°C to 230°C
POM (Polyacetal, e.g. Delrin)-40°C to 80°C
Perbunan, Viton, PTFE and Delrin are all manufacturersregistered trade names.
Please note the advice in DIN 7716 (Products in Rubber andIndia Rubber: Requirements for storage, cleaning and service).
Sealing of tapered threads on fittings
With PTFE TapeThe sealing qualities of a tapered thread (R thread to DIN 2999 and DIN 3858as well as NPT thread to ANSI/ASME B 1.20.1-1983) depend on the sealingmaterial used on the external thread.
We recommend 7-8 layers tightly wound on the thread, starting at the leading edge and covering the complete thread (this ensures that the tapedoes not unwind on assembly).
If the fitting has to be unscrewed for any reason, the tape MUST be renewed.
With Sealing PastesThe paste should be used on the 2nd and 3rd threads and then the fitting screwed in. The paste will spread itself evenly on the thread, thus making aseal on hardening. Unscrewing of the fitting will break the seal.

Description:The tapered R outside thread has the same core, haunch and outside dia as the Rp inside thread, so that it canbe threaded in by hand. The torque from the spanner lengthens the tapped hole and seals with the aid of a proprietary sealing material (eg. PTFE tape)
Comparison with ISO 228: The parallel Rp inside thread of this Standard has the same nominal size for thethread dia and profile as for the inside thread to ISO 228. However, the G inside thread in core and haunch diahas only a positive deviation (from DIN 2999 +/- tolerance). Therefore a DIN 2999 tapered outside thread may bescrewed into an ISO 228 parallel inside thread. The outside thread can be screwed 1 turn further. The likelyhoodof leaks occurring is increased due to larger core dia tolerance of the G thread which gives a larger clearancebetween the points of the threads.
In no circumstances combine ISO 228 parallel G outside thread with DIN 2999 Rp parallel inside thread as theinside thread is too small.

Material
Schwer-fittings are the specialists in stainless steel fittings (1.4571 or AISI 316Ti). We are continually investing in the development and
improvem
ent of our products. We process wrought 1.4571 with a works acceptance certificate to DIN 50 049 3.1B.
Small sized nuts are cold pressed.
