However, this position may be occasionally assigned responsibilities throughout the state. The incumbent promotes and enforces the Illinois and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (IMCSR, FMCSR), Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), and other applicable regulations. This position performs compliance reviews and new entrant safety audits on motor carriers domiciled in Illinois to determine their regulatory compliance, the culpability of identified violators, and to identify an appropriate course of action to improve compliance with FMCSR and HMR. This position is also responsible for the identification of violators of the IMCSR through the performance of compliance reviews at intrastate carriers' facilities in Illinois. In addition, the incumbent conducts inspections on all commercial motor vehicles including, but not limited to, trucks, truck tractors, trailers, and passenger buses to maintain federal certification. Assignments involve the managing and performing of a broad range of compliance functions. Qualifications: Position Requirements: Educations/Experience o Completion of majoring in organizational management, managerial processing, communications, legal studies, or computer science plus two years of experience in investigations and research, the trucking administration, hazardous materials transportation, accounting procedures, or a combination thereof, OR o Ten years of experience in investigations and research, the trucking administration, hazardous materials transportation, accounting procedures, or a combination thereof Valid driver's license Frequent extended travel with overnight stays Must be Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) certified within one year of hire ( ay require out-of-state travel for training sessions Ability to climb, bend, and stoop Position Desirables: General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications Exceptional knowledge of the Illinois and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (IMCSR, FMCSR), Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), as well as other rules and regulations which govern the trucking industry and hazardous materials shippers Working knowledge of evidence within a civil administrative process Working knowledge of commercial motor vehicles and their working parts How to Apply/Remarks: Technical Applications PM1080 (rev ) must be received by the Bureau of Personnel Management, Room 113, 2300 South Dirksen Parkway, Springfield, IL 62764 (Fax# 217/557-3134) or emailed to [email protected] by 4:30 pm on the closing date listed above.
