Exploring and using the possible new technologies

I frequently use

online archives to

store and search for

documentation

My Teachers make

available online didactic

support material for the

discipline

I took a language course, but I felt

unmotivated

I already

participated on online

Forums of a concrete

discipline. Students

participation is not very

active

Previous experiences

BESTEduCoEoEToolsStudentsConclusions

Exploring and using the possible new technologies

Students tested some new educational tools and technologies such as:

• FlashMeeting• Weblog• Netvibes (RSS)• Social bookmarking (Del.icio.us)

BESTEduCoEoEToolsStudentsConclusions

Exploring and using the possible new technologies

Flashmeeting is

great. It can easily

eliminate the distance

factor

Flashmeeting is time

saving and a user

friendly technology

Do students think they can be used in their education? (FlashMeetings)

Exploring and using the possible new technologies

A weblog is a great

cluster of information

community

It allows me to post and

share personal comments

Editable and available

everywhere

Do students think they can be used in their education?(Weblog)

Students

More than a problem,

an OPPORTUNITY !

eLearning and students mobility

To study in an

Intercultural

environment

Gain different

experiences and

challenges

What do students seek nowadays?

Focus on

proactive

learning

BESTEduCoEoEToolsStudentsConclusions

eLearning and students mobility

Motivate

professors

and students

Train students

and professors

What do students think that is needed to be changed?

BESTEduCoEoEToolsStudentsConclusions

Conclusions• VM enriches the more traditional learning

activities• Learning process can be improved through

interactive and collaborative learning• Disadvantaged regions and students are

more easily reached thus enhancing equal opportunities for all

• Encourages the learners’ autonomy and gives them a broader choice on what, how and when to learn

• Acces to an international community of learners that is potentially linquistically and culturally diverse

BESTEduCoEoEToolsStudentsConclusions

Conclusions• Internationalisation and use of tools and

technologies will develop skills necessary in working life

• Time saving• Internationalisation• Lack of motivation from students can be a

problem• VM students need more guidance, a strong

agenda and a better and more continous communication
