TCC is partnering with the Department of Workforce Development, Wisconsin State Telecommunications Association, and Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC) to create this exciting new apprenticeship. Training skilled Broadband Service Technicians is a pressing need of the Broadband industry. Broadband is no longer an optional amenity, but rather, an essential infrastructure for communities. Research has shown that access to fast, reliable broadband impacts jobs and income, business and economics, education, home values, public services, and amenities. Currently, many companies train employees through a variety of informal, non-standardized methods. The Broadband Service Technician Apprenticeship will redefine training in our industry. The program combines formal, structured on-the-job learning from our skilled professionals with related online instruction through Wisconsin technical colleges. Our very own Cody Moen will be the first apprentice in this program. TCC believes this is an excellent opportunity for our communities, technical colleges, area students, and the state in general, and we are honored to be involved. Or, do you just load up your gear and go? Like a lot of fishermen, you would like to be more informed before you head out fishing, but you don’t know where to find the information you need. Well, check out Lake-Link. Lake-Link is a company that puts together information on just about every body of water in the U.S. and makes it available to anglers. Basic information is free, just go to lake-link.com. If you want to share info with others and get some of their more detailed information (lake contour maps, etc.), you will need an account with them. Even the free information is super helpful before you head out and “try it for yourself.” In the case of early ice fishing, not knowing can be the difference between a nice day on the ice and a bad situation. HOW AND WHEN TO REBOOT MODEMS AND CABLE RECEIVERS If you experience issues with your Internet, Cable, or Phone, try rebooting your equipment. For Internet and Fiber services, find the main modem where service comes into the house (often in the basement) and unplug the power cord. If there is a battery backup, pull the battery. Wait 10 seconds and plug back in (and put battery back in). Then do the same with the router plugged into the main modem and any other equipment connected to it. For Cable services without a main modem, just unplug the power cord to every receiver, count to 10 and plug back in. Wait 5 minutes and try it! You can unplug the power at the box or at the wall/outlet. Rebooting does not fix service outages but it can restore service after a maintenance update or if your equipment is just not responding properly. If not, then call TCC! TECH TIP: lAKE-LINK WEBSITE When you want to go fishing, do you check the lake’s conditions, weather, ice depth, best bite times, or other information about the lake(s) you want to fish? Do you ask around to find out who’s been fishing it lately and what they’ve been catching? (continued below, to the left) MOVING? Are you planning to move within the TCC serving area? Do you need your services transferred to your new location? Please contact TCC at least 2 weeks in advance so we can schedule the work needed to connect services. Thank you!

If you would like to read the letter, please visit our website www.tccpro.net and click “About” from the top menu and then “News” or go to our Facebook page www.facebook.com/Tricounty.coop. IT’S STORM SEASON - MAKE SUREYOUR DEVICES ARE PROTECTED!When storms hit, make sure your devices are protected.Plug your major electronics into a good surge protector.A surge protector is more than a “power strip.” A surgeprotector has a fuse and a switch to cut power from yourdevices when it experiences a surge of electricity.

You can also unplug your electronics from the outlet whenthere’s a storm, or if you go away for the weekend when there is the possibility of storms.
