Dear colleagues, It is indeed a pleasant opportunity and sense of duty to welcome you all at IInd National Conference for Society for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension on “Technological Interventions for Sustainable Livestock Production” to be held at Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu, R.S. Pura during February 21-23, 2017. The national conference is aimed to bring all the professionals working in the field of livestock/fisheries/agricultural research/education and extension sectors under an umbrella in an inter-disciplinary approach to provide an effective platform for deliberations. The forum will provide the best opportunity for exchange of knowledge and ideas amongst the field functionaries, farmers, scientists, researchers, teachers, students, technologists, industry people and policy makers for overall improvement (development) of rural community. We look forward to meet you in February, 2017 and for your active participation, contribution and valued discussion with eminent scientists from all over the country, which in turn will lead to the success of this conference.

Host Institute: SKUAST Jammu SKUAST Jammu is mandated with the responsibility of teaching, research and extension education in the field of agriculture, veterinary & animal husbandry, horticulture and allied sciences namely biotechnology, basic
sciences and agribusiness management. The university presently has three teaching faculties viz. Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry and Faculty of Basic Sciences in addition to School of Biotechnology. SKUAST Jammu has its headquarters at Chatha Jammu and FVSc
& AH at R.S. Pura which is about 15 from the Jammu Airport, 18 km from Jammu Railway Station and 20 km from the main bus stand. For more details please visit www.skuast.org.

The event will be organized at Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry of SKUAST-Jammu at R.S. Pura, Jammu.
About Jammu City
Jammu, the winter capital of the J&K state is situated on the bank of river Tawi. It has attained prominence on the tourist map of India with an unprecedented influx of pilgrims of the holy Shrine of Shree Mata Vaishno Devi, throughout the year. Vaishno Devi shrine is about 55 Kms from Jammu, enroute to Srinagar. Vaishno Devi Bhavan, a cave situated at the height of 1700 m from sea level is 30 m long and 1.5 m high and sacred to the devotees. Jammu is also known as the City of Temples. Apart from the holy shrine, there are other places of tourist interest in and around Jammu, viz. Patnitop, Mansar lake, Raghunath temple, Shivkhori, Bahu Fort, Asia's largest fish aquarium, Amar Mahal, Dogra Art Gallery etc.
Visit to Vaishno Devi Shrine
Visit to Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine will be arranged on contributory basis. Therefore, all interested delegates are requested to intimate well in advance and also to book the return reservation accordingly. Tour on other places can also be facilitated with the help of tourism department.
Weather
The temperature during the conference in Jammu is expected to be low, ranging
from 15-20℃ and the delegates are advised to carry woollen clothes and jackets with them accordingly.
How to reach
Jammu is well connected by road, rail and air. Direct flights and volvo buses operate between New Delhi and Jammu. Regular trains and flights operate between Jammu and different parts of the country.

Participation is open to all scientists, teachers, students, field officers and research scholars in the field of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Fisheries/Agriculture and allied subjects (extension, academics and research). Those

Submission of abstracts: Abstracts containing objectives of the study, brief methodology, results & conclusion; avoiding tables, figures or references should be mailed to [email protected] and uploaded in website www.svahe17.wordpress.com before 31-12-2016. Only original and quality papers will be accepted, out of which selected research papers will be considered for oral presentation and the remaining shall be included as poster presentation. You can indicate preference for Oral or Poster Presentation in online form on website or in the file.
Formatting requirements for abstract: Font: Times New Roman and font size 12 with spacing 1.5.Theme area: Best befitting theme area should be mentioned at the top of the abstract. Title: Should be in title case with genus/species/local names etc. in italics with size 16, bold and center aligned. Example: Adoption of Artificial Insemination in Dairy Cattle by Gaddi Tribe Members of J&K. Author(s) name(s) and affiliation(s): Authors name(s) bold and affiliations in italics. Corresponding author name and email address, phone number should be mentioned.
Abstract: Abstract should have brief background of the study, methodology, results and conclusion. Results should be presented in concise form excluding table/figures (Limited to 300 words).Keywords: 4 to 5 keywords arranged alphabetically and separated by commas.Guideline for oral presentation: For oral presentation speakers will present their work in MS Powerpoint (.pptx format). The presentation should be brought by delegates in a CD or pen drive. Necessary arrangement for projection will be provided and delegates will have 10 minutes to present their work, which will follow a 5 minute discussion.Guideline for poster: Size of the poster should be at least 2 x 4 feet containing objectives of the study, brief methodology, results & conclusion; with tables, figures and photographs.

The organizing committee has instituted Budding Extensionist Award, Mid Career Award and Innovative Extension Educationist Award for encouraging the spirit of the researchers, educationists, teachers, trainers and practitioners. The application in this respect should reach to organizing secretary of the conference latest by December 31, 2016. The candidate applying for an award in these three categories should be a life member of the SVAHE.
Accommodation Concessional accommodation on first cum first basis will be provided to limited participants in the University/Govt. guest houses subject to the availability. The accommodation on payment basis will be booked in hotels ranging between Rs. 1500 and 2000 (twin sharing basis). Besides high end hotel accommodation can be booked for the delegates on request.
