● Structured data allows patient information to be easily retrieved and transferred

● EHRs are designed to reach out beyond the health organization that originally collects and compiles the information.

15

EMR vs EHR

EMR EHRLocation Locally in one

Practice/Clinic.Cloud

Who can access Accessed by only medical staff and physicians at a specific location

Clinicians and specialist of various location. (Physician offices, hospital, specialist…)

What data is held Hold patients’ medical data

Patient’s information related to all points of care. ( where was seen for any medical assistance)

Other information Information shared outside with email or regular mail

All EMR information is transferred into EHR 16

Lessons Learned

26

What Went Well Opportunities for Improvement

Activation Support in offices and by OPS; @Lougheed by Epic and

management

Training gaps identified prior to activation resulted in numerous activation education updates

Teamwork & collaboration amongst Project EPIC; PPG Operations and

Epic

Communication challenges in following up on Issue tickets

Charge review queues and claims acceptance rate exceed activation

goals

ABN processes continuing to be defined

Per Epic, one of or the best activation they have been involved; most organized and relatively issue-

free

Development of training specific to workflow including specific to

specialty
