Why?

• Because the world has changed– Many don't carry cash or check books– Many don't use the mailbox – We're in a millennial generation • A lot of us are becoming like them

– Half of people are carrying smart phones, and more will soon

– We need to relate personally to members and non members

Do we have to?

• If it was good enough for my parents!• I don't do Facebook or Tweet or Four Square

or…• People shouldn't be using credit cards to give• Or lots of other excuses that people make

What can technology do?• Connect- Allow communications to reach

members and non members• Involve- Engage younger members where they

"live"• Make it easier for everyone to give

How can technology be used to Connect?

• Web site– Mobile friendly– Concise and easy to use

• email newsletter, not paper– Weekly email communications is better

• MailChimp, may be free for many congregations• Constant Contact

• Social media -even better for some people– Facebook

• Pictures• questions, news, events, polls, trivia, accolades, and more

– YouTube– Twitter- Pastor Doering– Google+– Pinterest?

• Social media– Facebook

• Provide opportunities• Recognize support of your mission

– Twitter- regular short communications– Google+– Pinterest?

• Create opportunities to make a missional difference– People don't give to pay the light bill– People don't want to join a Lutheran club– Make it easy for members to participate

• Electronic registration and payment
