Abstract

Please join us for a detailed education session on the newest hybrid cloud monitoring capabilities in CA Unified Infrastructure Management. We will explore how CA Unified Infrastructure Management continues to deliver on its vision of powerful, unified monitoring that is easy to set up, administer and use. This session will cover the new hybrid cloud monitoring capabilities and monitoring public cloud (AWS), private cloud (OpenStack), hyperconverged infrastructure (Nutanix) and containers (Docker). With comprehensive monitoring coverage of the technologies that are driving the evolution of modern data centers, IT operations now has the tools to quickly pinpoint and troubleshoot problems that span private and public clouds.

OpenStack Monitoring Solution

Discover and visualize key Openstack components

Report on key events and metrics at all layers– Admin dashboard – performance and health of hosts

– Tenant dashboard – performance and health of VMs

– OpenStack services health – Nova, Neutron, Cinder, others

Analyze, diagnose and troubleshoot common issues such as service failures, poor performance, capacity planning, load balancing etc.

Docker Overview

Application virtualization – portable, secure, efficient

De facto delivery vehicle for cloud applications; second most popular open source project after OpenStack

Similar challenges to virtualization monitoring – ephemeral lifecycle and rapidly scaling sets of containers, sprawl, noisy neighbors, etc.

Docker Engine exposes APIs for container metadata, lifecycle events, and KPIs

Docker Monitoring Solution Elements

Collect key performance metrics– CPU and memory usage; network rx/tx rates; count of total and

running containers

Elastic configuration at scale

Dashboards displaying the performance and health of containers, container engine, Docker daemons etc.
