Healthtech Startup School

Healthtech is an industry that has extremely high rewards both financially and personally. Nevertheless, with seemly high barriers to entry, healthtech has often been perceived as an area that is difficult for startups and entrepreneurs to flourish, with many citing the need for relevant and easy-to-access information, support and guidance.

That is why techUK and BCS launched the inaugural Healthtech Startup School (HSS) in Spring 2014 and following its success, we are running the second series in Spring 2015.

Healthtech Startup School bridges the gap between ideas and startup success - up-skilling delegates so that they are market ready. It's the touch point of the healthtech entrepreneurial ecosystem which provides valuable contacts and resources, and teaches real world knowledge to progress a business concept through the iterative learning cycles.

Healthtech Startup School is designed for entrepreneurs that have a business concept or early-stage business. If you have a business model, an early product, your first couple of customers, or some early revenues, HSS can be of value. Fellow entrepreneurs and successful corporates will share their expertise, experience and energy in a professional and open setting, to help equip delegates with the skills and knowledge they need to build their own businesses.

The second series is bigger and better than the first. There are eight workshops, curated by successful healthtech entrepreneurs and corporate professionals, ensuring delegates gain personal insight and develop skills in:

• Business Plan and Strategy• Raising Finance• Technology Optimisation• Sales and Procurement

In addition to introducing our brand new session on 'How to Make It Happen', the second series formalises aspects of mentoring - there are now four business clinics which translate the experiential learning from the eight workshops into practical hands-on advice.

The clinics help delegates crystallise ideas and test business models through iterative learning cycles, which are supported by leading business mentors from Healthbox and Entrepreneurs Succeed With Us. The business clinics allow delegates to test their plans for:

• Strategy• Finance

• Building the Team• Marketing and Communications• Making Your Pitch• How to Make It Happen

• Sales• Technology Build
