Tecleor LLC
Global loss of agricultural commodities and food products: 1.3 billion tons
per year, or 30% of the total amount
Foodborne and waterborne diarrhea diseases kill approximately
2.2 million people annually, including 1.9 million children
Reported annual increase in food poisonings in industrialized: 30%
Global increase in allergic reactions and pathologies due to metabolic
disruptions from insufficient safety of agricultural and processed food.
The ProblemWhy does the market need us?
2
Food Irradiation is a physical treatment in which food is exposed to a defined dose of
ionizing radiation.
Electron beam processing may be used for the following purposes:
Safety: reduce the incidence of foodborne disease by destroying pathogenic
organisms;
Quality: 25-40% decrease in product loss due to insects, bacteria and mold;
Economy: extended shelf life and reduce loss of foodstuffs by premature ripening,
germination, or sprouting;
Ecology: reducing the dependence on chemical pesticides
The Innovative SolutionHow can we change the world for better?
3
Processing does not require significant temperature increase, so the food will
not change the taste, flavor, or texture
Ionizing radiation safely disinfects through packaging, lowering risk of post-
processing contamination
The technology provides high degree of microbiological purity, sterility, and
safety for the consumer.
The Innovative SolutionHow can we change the world for better?
4
The technology is able to:
eliminate the risk of dangerous foodborne infections from wide range of produce:
meat, fish, mushrooms, vegetables and fruit
extend the shelf life and transportability of highly perishable products
provide a quarantine treatment of exported and imported goods
exterminate insects in grains, cereals, flour, nuts, fresh and dried fruit or vegetables
prevent germination during storage (potatoes, onions, garlic)
prepare food for people with weakened immune systems or those working in special
conditions (military, emergency, astronauts, polar explorers)
Application ScopeHow can we change the world for better?
5
Permanent installation includes :
pulsed electron linear accelerator
local radiation protection
beam shaping system
conveyor for feeding products
to the irradiation zone
power, cooling, monitoring and control systems
Products are fed by the conveyor belt into the chamber where a strong
high energy electron steam sterilize them.
TechnologyHow does the device work?
6
Advantages of the technology using an electron accelerator:
proven and tested technology that is absolutely safe
no chemical, biological and radioactive waste
production scalability by customer request (up to 5 tons / hour)
variable processing speed to match specific products
high accuracy of the processing time estimation and delivery
compact hardware, long service life
low maintenance cost, competitive processing price to the client
Key AdvantagesWhy are we better than competitors?
7
Competitive space
Food processing with ionizing radiation technology has been known since
1950s, it is commercialized in more than 50 countries.
However, there is no organized market for processing in Russia and
consumers do not have access to this technology.
Technology introduction requires an integration center for manufacturers of
accelerator technology and specialists of ionizing treatment.
Existing manufacturers of accelerator technology are focused on:
applications of selective technology (processing of health care products, disinfection
of medical waste, industrial processing of plastics)
direct sales of accelerators (import contracts)
military orders from the Ministry of Defense
8
The global market of services for radiation processing of food products in 2012
exceeded $ 2.3 billion.
The projected level in the long term (after 2030) is $ 22.5 billion, including
Russia’s $ 1 billion, with growth forecast of about 10% per year.
We offer Electron beam processing more than 100 kinds of food products.
Focus groups have shown that consumers are willing to pay
from $0.2 to $0.7 per kg
for the benefits of irradiated products.
The MarketOur clients – who are they?
9
Economic accessibility of services for radiation treatment (based on contractual
centers) for businesses of all sizes
Minimum batch of products: 1 ton
Price per treatment: $0.1/kg
Development and selection of optimal treatment regimens for each of the types
of agricultural products and foodstuffs
Our team combines years of experience in processing/applications reliable
accelerator manufacturing with Leading edge R&D (in conjunction with leading
industry Institute of Agricultural Sciences)
Factors of SuccessWhy our team?
