While Advantage Powder Coating (APC) was acquired by Tecvalco in 2017, the coating company actually opened its doors in 11 years earlier. In 2016, APC started operations in the Industrial Park of Battleford, Saskatchewan. The company began production with a batch system in a 2,500 square foot building and just two employees. In 2013, APC relocated to 101 Canola Avenue, in the Parson’s Industrial Park in North Battleford, gaining square footage and employees.
We now utilize 20,000 square feet to house both our batch system and our conveyor line system. Our batch system equipment can accommodate items up 8.5 feet wide, 7 feet tall, and 20 feet long. The 320 foot conveyor line system can accommodate items up to 2 feet wide, 5 feet tall, and 15 feet long. Additionally, an indoor sandblast area has been creat-ed to complement our larger outdoor blasting area.
The powder coating process began in Australia in 1967 and has grown exponentially, now being used world-wide. Powder coating is an advanced technique where powder is electrostatically charged and sprayed onto a surface. It is then heated in a curing oven so the powder particles melt to form a continuous film on the desired surface. The result is a uniform, durable, high-quality, and attractive finish.
Sandblasting is a common, highly-effective method of cleaning and maintaining a wide variety of surfaces. It can be
used to remove residues, rust, old paint, and other impurities. It can also be used for peening, decorating, and deburring. At APC, sandblasting is a key step in the preparation process for powder coating or painting. We sandblast the surface to ensure layers of paint, decay, rust, and other impurities are thoroughly removed before applying the powder coating.
APC is proud to offer the complementing services of sand-blasting and powder coating all in one place as well as offer-ing free pickup and delivery to Saskatoon and Lloydminster.

DiamondWrap HP, from Citadel Technologies, is a carbon-fi-ber wrap system that rehabilitates and restores original operational strength to corroded and eroded pipelines and piping systems.
It is engineered to provide strength, enabling a pipeline to return to maximum allowable operating pressure (MAOP) without shutting down. The system is comprised of three components, each one being thoroughly and independently tested at both the university and national laboratory level.
The first component is a solid epoxy primer, which guaran-tees complete bonding and load transfer between the repair and the substrate. The second component, and most unique feature of the DiamondWrap HP system, is its bi-directionally woven carbon-fiber material. This provides reinforcement in
the hoop and axial directions, and is the strongest available non-metallic repair on the market. The third part of the sys-tem is the polymeric epoxy resin which allows for uniform loading throughout the entire wrap. For repairs that require surfaces to be modified, such as heavy pitting, the high-mod-ulus filler putty can be applied.
DiamondWrap HP application uses an engineering assessment to compile information such as substrate mate-rial, wall thickness, wall loss, operating temperature, and pressure range.
Tecvalco is proud to provide pipeline owners and operators with a cost-effective solution and alternative to repair clamps, welded sleeves, and pipeline replacement.
Reduced thickness solutions with higher strengths. Exhibits minimal creep and its stiffness approaches that of the steel. Flexible design of the system and various kit options can accommodate nearly any installation environment. Simplistic install procedure of the product, limited excavation space and clearance required. Can be installed on horizontal and vertical pipe with ease. Damp conditions do not affect the product.
Diamondwrap HP can be applied to pipe with temperatures ranging from -20F to 180F. Proprietary epoxy based filler that can be pre-applied so that loads are evenly transferred to the wrap system. No additional tools are required. Diamondwrap HP is compliant to DOT regulation, ASME B31, .8, .4, .G and PCC- 2 ART 4.1, 4.2 and API 570. Please refer to API 570, Section 8.1.4 – Non-welding repairs (on-stream).

Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean that utility work stops – especially in Canada. Thanks to the FrostHog, exca-vations can carry on despite frozen ground. This product is a safe, clean, easy, and cost-effective means of removing frost and thawing frozen ground.
Commonly used to hand expose pipeline crossing, utility lines, graves, and much more.
FrostHog’s headquarters is in Rosebud, Alberta. From there, they distribute, sell, rent, lease, and service the FrostHog ground unit heaters. They have teamed up with Tecvalco Ltd. to be their sales channel partner and help support the line across North America. FrostHog has been providing a safe, clean, easy and cost-effective solution to let the excavation work con-tinue in even the coldest of climates for over 25 years.
The FrostHog unit is a quiet, simple machine that is easy to operate and transport to the jobsite. On its own self-loading trailer, it can be brought to the desired position for work, fired up and left unattended during the thawing process.
The heater operates on the principle of efficiently igniting and burning propane gas in a u-shaped tube. Using the pat-ented “Fire Tube Energy Saver” technology installed in the
combustion chamber, maximum heat is achieved. This device confounds the flow of the air/gas mixture through the tube thereby forcing all heat to the inside walls. In turn, this heats the outside of the tube to its maximum capacity. A ceramic insulated housing encases the heat tube and when this hous-ing is lowered to the surface to be thawed an extremely high percentage of heat is directed downward. Very little heat is lost to the atmosphere.
Depending on soil conditions, most frost is removed within 24 to 48 hours. The unit consumes approximately 2 to 100 lb bottles of propane in 24 hours. All burner controls and propane valves are enclosed to eliminate vandalism and the hood is insulated to maintain higher internal temperatures. There is no open flame and all units are equipped with flame arrestor cells, safety valves and automatic gas shut-offs, mak-ing FrostHog explosion-proof for use in residential and/or hazardous areas.
As recent as 2017, FrostHog underwent a full certification process to ensure it follows and meets all of the current ap-provals needed for this type of equipment. FrostHog prides itself on a unit that is safe, clean, user-friendly and effective!

ON THE ROAD: TECVALCO’S TRADE SHOWS
Have a great shot of one of our products in action? Send it our way, and it could make it into the next issues of the Tecvalco Today.
Tecvalco has kept busy these past few months on the road. We started off October with a trip to Williston, ND, for the Bakken Oil Product & Service Show! Later in the month, the team set up at the Waste & Recycle/Municipal Equipment Expo in Ni-agara Falls, ON, showcasing our MemFree continuous flow wastewater treatment system.
The latest stop on the road was the Saskatchewan Water and Wastewater trade show in Saskatoon, SK. The team spent a few days educating and answering questions on how our MemFree wastewater treatment solution could help across various wastewater projects.
Next month Tecvalco is heading to Edmonton, AB, for the Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops trade fair to wrap up the 2017 trade show year!
